The window replacement and screen door repair went well. They replaced the screen and the rollers. While they were at my home, we asked for an estimate to replace a broken window. They also noticed other windows that needed to be replaced. We agreed to replace two sliding door screens and the bottom rollers. We also agreed to replace two windows. owever, while installing the windows, they damaged two of our window screens as they were taking them out or putting them back in (they were a pretty tight fit). We found the damage later that day and called Broken Windows. They denied that they damaged the screens. They agree to replace one of the damaged screens if we paid to replace the other damaged screen. We paid for them to replace two other window screens. As it turns out, when we got the screens back, none of the window screens fit the frames anymore, even when we waited for warmer weather in May (in case the frames shrunk during the cold winter temperatures). We will now go to another company to replace all four screens and to replace all corners of each damaged screen.

I knew Bob from a previous job and thought I could swing some business his way. I had been been given estimates from other vendors for windows, had two replaced. Vendor said a couple windows could be repaired but they didn’t do it. Broken windows charged me $98.00 trip charge in the middle of snow storm. Never looked at two of three windows because he didn’t want to walk in snow. One window he never even saw. So without looking or measuring declares my windows unrepairable, says I only want wood windows not vinyl like I had just had two windows done. Was there a total of less than 5 minutes demanded a check for $98.00 and left. Got a email quote a day later that could not possibly be right because he never measured windows. Stay away from thi company at all costs

We had two double pane casement widows that needed repair - in one one of the panes was broken, and in the other there was a bad seal that allowed it to fill with condensation and mold. It took a few days from the time we called before someone could come to the house, measure the windows and prepare an estimate. They charge $60 to do this, but, credit it toward the final price if you accept their estimate and authorize the work. It was necessary to order replacements from the factory and so it was about two weeks after the estimate before the repair could be completed. The replacement took about two hours. The work was efficiently done, it looks as good as new. Both the man who came out to do the initial estimate and the man who replaced the glass were personable and efficient. For both appointments we were given a one-hour time period in which we were told to expect them. The man who came to do the estimate was about a half an hour late, but the man who came to do the repair arrived at the expected time. While i got no other estimates with which to to compare it, the price charged seemed reasonable to me, I was very pleased with the service and the quality of the work. I would contact them gain should the need arise.

They are okay. I would use them again. I have old windows and there is only few companies that deal with shaft replacements. I think they should have a done more thorough and professional job when they did the work. Spend the time to do it right.

It took over a month to receive the estimate and it was not itemized. We asked for an itemized estimate over a week ago and still have not heard back. It has been 6 weeks now and we still have no idea what the cost of the project will be, not to mention when it will be done. We are going with a different company because this is ridiculous. Also, they kept our $60 estimate charge and refuse to refund it despite the poor service.

The procedure was completed in a short time. The patio door screen had only been repaired once in forty years, and because of an existing storm window, it was rather difficult to remove from the window frame. But, Bob managed quite efficiently. In a matter of less than an hour, the screen was replaced and returned to the frame. It, now, looks lovely. It was a pleasure communicating with Bob, whose manner was friendly and professional. If ever I need any work done on windows, I will definitely call this company again!

We had been looking around at home shows and hardware stores and online for about 2 years before jumping into this project of replacing the original 70 year old drafty and decaying entry door and screen doors. We wanted high quality--there are pets and children--good looks, and functionality. Robert spent all the time with us we needed to help us make the best selections. We had to wait for the weather to warm up--which was fine with us--and once a 2 day window opened that worked for both of us--the doors went on without a hitch. They worked cleanly and quietly and we have received many compliments.

They were prompt for both the Est and the repair. I received a phone call that they would be early to do repair work and did not mind waiting for me to get home. The job was done quicky and they cleaned up all the broken glass. Price was a little higher than other Est but I have used Broken Glass in the past and knew the job would be done well. Since I'd used them before I did not have to put down a deposit at the time of the Est.

I went in to Broken Windows to get a replacement piece of glass for the frame my Ph. D. is in. I had broken the glass while the frame (sans degree) sat on my office floor. I took the frame in, told the gentleman what I needed, and he cut the piece of glass in no more than a couple of minutes. The only sticking point is that the piece of glass was under $5, their limit for using a credit/debit card, and I had no cash. There weren't any signs posted specifying the $5 minimum. I offered to write a check but the employee said he would run the card and deal with the owner later. I will definitely use them in the future. By the way, my Ph. D. is now proudly displayed adjacent to my Bachelor's degree.

I had my estimate in early May. The window company sent the wrong window panes... so it took a month & 1/2 to get my windows & cranks installed. Overall I thought the price was a little high and should have gotten a 2nd estimate. However they charge a $60 estimating charge... so I didn't want my $60 to go to waste. The owner is very nice and professional and finished the work swiftly once the windows came in. He also replaced 2 cranks that he wasn't supposed 2, so I was charged for those. Which I didn't like.

Hello. we just recently found your response and feel bad about your experience. once in awhile the manufacturer will send us the wrong product. we do try our best to make sure that everything goes smooth on our visit for the repair. the additional repairs you mentioned were they needed ? the customer does have the right to refuse if we notice additional work. we just like to mention it while were there to give you the cost savings. If you give us a call, we'd be happy to take care of any uncertainty or wrong feelings.

Arrived within 2 hour stated time frame, set up their workshop area on driveway & start to finish was approx. 1 hr. 2 guys were professional & informative. Paid 1/2 the cost of window replacement estimate (deposit) for ordering purposes; balance upon finishing of job. Time from estimate to installation (including window ordering & measurement) about 3 wks; they called 2 wks. later to set up repair for following week.
Description of Work: They charge $98.00 to come to your house for an estimate & if you go ahead w/the work in the near future the $98.00 is credited back to you on final job. Once you are in their system the trip charge of $98.00 no longer applies; you are considered a customer. They replaced a Weather Shield Low-E window glass size approx. 23" x 57" due to a seal failure on a home built in 1987. 2 guys came to the house within the stated 2 hr. time frame; time to replace window approx. 1 hr. Both guys were professional & informative; setting up their work-shop area on the drive-way. Since I've never had anyone charge me before for an estimate; I realize they probably get numerous customer requests for estimates who don't necessarily go ahead w/the work which can be expensive for the Co. if someone isn't really serious. I admit I was suspicious due to a previous prior rating, but I'm glad I re-thought that feedback & used them. I gave them a "B" on price since I don't really have any idea what it would cost from another installer. Note: They are Certified by Weather Shield for window glass repair/replacement.

As indicated, they never replied with an estimate, but did call over a week later to schedule the work! We declined. We would not have considered them at any price after their lack of follow-up (and their reps insistence that one person could do the job which clearly required 2 persons)
Description of Work: Broken Windows initially wanted nearly $100 to come perform an estimate on the labor to replace two windows. Since the total cost of labor was only about $200 in the end, this is an outrageous figure, especially in the current economy. Broken Windows did indicate that the $100 would be deducted from the total IF they performed the work. After some prompting from the Homeowners association they did finally agree to provide an estimate but never followed up in writing or by phone/fax after sending someone out to view the job.

I do not trust this company. The person who came by seemed knowledgeable, but when the window manufacturer was called for more information on the window itself they gave me different information. The manufacturer stated that the fix was going to be much simpler than Broken Windows claimed and that they were charging me for new hinges which they get reimbursed for. I called BW up and gave them the new information, asked if the work took less time if they would then charge me less labor. They offered to reduce the price of the hinges but did not give an answer on the labor issue, said I'd get a call back from a manger which never came. I called back again, was told the manager would call back, never did. Finally after a month I called to have them fix it with their quoted cost and to schedule an appt, and was told they couldn't do it and that a manager would call back. Who never did. The last person I talked to was Steve, who was quite rude and unprofessional. I found a new company! Update: It is now 2013, and this company has just inquired about my review for them that I did five years ago. I have a record of my check written to this specific company "Broken Windows" for $55.00 on February 19, 2008, which disagrees with their claim that this review is not for their company. I try to be very careful to make sure I attribute a review to the correct company!
Description of Work: They charged $55 to come to the house and give an estimate and recommendation on how to fix my casement windows that no longer shut all the way. They stated the $55 would be reduced from the bill when they performed the work.

The workman was very prompt and polite. He completed the work in a timely manner and left no mess. My only comment would be that it would be nice to reach an employee by phone when I had questions. I had to leave a message a wait for a call back.
Description of Work: We decided to replace the glass and muntons on one double hung window and one casement window. We had a quote from another company that included these another half window for $1200. Finding this to be too costly, we called Broken Windows. Bob indicated that he might be able to do the job for less. The final quote was around $100 less the same so we amended the job to omit the half window. The casement window also needed its crank replaced. The estimation visit was very professionally done and I was well informed about what his company could do. After a number of phone calls to secure a time for the work to be done, it was finally done about 4 weeks later. The work was done well and we are quite satisfied. We would use this company again.

THEIR SERVICE DESK WAS VERY COURTEOUS WHEN I CALLED TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS JOB. THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE IN SETTING UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR ONE OF THEIR MEN TO COME TO MY HOUSE TO DO THE WORK. THEY ALSO CALLED AN HOUR OR SO BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING WAS STILL ON (A NICE TOUCH). THE SERVICE MAN DID A NICE JOB IN TAKING OUT THE BROKEN PANE, INSTALLING A NEW PANE, RE-GLAZING AND CLEANING UP AFTERWARD. HE WAS IN AND OUT, DONE IN A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR. IT WAS AS IF THE WINDOW HAD NEVER BEEN BROKEN. BROKEN WINDOWS, INC. IS A VERY PROFESSIONAL WELL RUN COMPANY AND I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN. THE ONLY OTHER COMMENT THAT I WOULD MAKE IS IN REGARD TO THEIR PRICE RATING. I CALL THEIR PRICING GOOD, BUT NOT EXCELLENT BECAUSE IT WAS A BIT HIGHER THAN I THOUGHT IT SHOULD BE. AROUND $100 WOULD HAVE PUT IT IN THE HIGHER RATING CATEGORY.
