Bob Kent installed a new tear-off roof on my home in April 2009 as a part of a real estate purchase deal. I bought the home in May 2009. In April 2010, the roof began to leak. I called for repairs and was assured that the roof was "under warranty." On 5/12/2010, I called again and Bob said he had fixed the roof but forgotten to call me. I informed him the roof was still leaking. He promised to send someone out. I called again on 5/23/2010 when no one followed through. On July 8, 2010, six weeks later, black tar-like substance was spread across the entire span of where this roof meets the sidewall of the house. The roof still leaked - now in a new spot. I called again. On 7/13/2010, Bob sent someone to attempt a third "fix" to my roof. Some flashing was added, although not properly installed and large globs of white caulk were piled on the edges of the roof and in both ends of my gutter. Rain now leaked from multiple places. He promised to fix it on 7/17/2010. No show. No call. On 7/21/2010, I contacted another roofing company who estimates thousands of dollars to repair the roof, install the ice dam membrane properly, re-hang the gutter, and install the venting needed to pass inspection. I sent Bob Kent two certified letters 7/27/2010 and 8/02/2010 that as of this date remain unclaimed. When I called him on 8/09/2010, 11 days after he promised to give me the name of the insurance company that insures his business, he hung up. A Better Business Bureau complaint was filed on August 2, 2010. Long story short, 119 days later, my roof is not repaired, the gutter he installed is tilted toward the house and away from the downspout, and the roof still doesn't have appropriate venting and has not passed inspection.
Description of Work: Bob Kent installed a new tear-off roof on my home in April 2009 that had never passed the village inspection when installed (unknown to me when I bought the house.) He also installed a 14' span of gutter. Because of leaks in April 2010, he was called to repair the roof, fix the gutter, and make good on the items needed to bring the roof to code and able to pass inspection.

We got the company's contact information from the contractor desk at the store where the doors were ordered. At first, everything seemed great-we spoke to the site manager, Dan Orzechowski. He gave us an estimate of $150 per opening (a "buck fifty" in his words) for a total of $300 total for the job. Then he came by the next day and gave us a written estimate. Everything seemed great-he was professional, checked the dimensions, showed us their insurance and BBB paperwork. When he left we congratulated ourselves for picking a great installer for a great price. Fast forward two weeks; the doors had come in. We called to schedule the job, but he had to finish up a roofing job. He was supposed to drop off a final contract in our mailbox. Two days passed; no contract. A follow-up call from us, and again, no contract. He said that he had fallen off a roof and that's what delayed the contract. So again, he was going to drop it off. When we tried to go ahead and pick a day to schedule the work to be done, he said that we couldn't because of the possibility of rain. (Even though he had seen our house-both doors areas are covered.) More time passed and still no contract. Finally, almost a month to the day of our initial phone conversation, we called again about getting the contract. He told us that he would bring by the contract, and he would begin work that day. He told us he'd be at our home between 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. 9:30 came and went. We called Dan around 10 a.m. and left a voicemail. Then we called the owner of the company, Bob Kent. He apologized and said that he would see Dan later that day and have him call us. By the evening, still no call from Dan. We called Bob back to let him know. Bob was surprised, but didn't offer any resolution. We told him that if we didn't hear back from them ASAP, we were going to go with another company. Later that night, we got a call from Dan. He was polite, but did not offer any explanation for why he did not come to start the job earlier that day. We went ahead and rescheduled for the same time the next day for him to come and do the installation. The next day started much the same. By 10 a.m., still no sight of Dan. Then we get a call from him. He said that he was on his way over to see what types of materials he would need for the installation and have us sign the contract, but that he did not plan to start the project that day. We were flabbergasted! (My spouse and I had both taken off of work for the sole purpose of being around when the work was going on.) We ended up calling him back and telling him that, although we appreciated his efforts, we were going to go with another company if the install could not be started that day. He hung up on us without a word. Very professional. We couldn't believe it. We called the owner, Bob Kent, to let him know. Bob apologized and said that he didn't blame us for going with another company. In summary-we will not be using this company!
Description of Work: We needed two new pre-hung entry doors and two storm doors installed in our 1925 bungalow. The openings were professionally measured, and the doors were special-ordered from a local home improvement store.
