Response from BIG DAVE'S SERVICES
I received a service request in Angie's List category of Handyman from the member above on 4/17 that stated as follows "Fascia board on south side of house ripped by wind storm" Because I was out on job sites that day, I was not able to respond right away, but sent the following message to the member the following morning 4/18 "Hi [Member Name Removed]- Thanks for choosing to contact us via Angie's List. I would love to talk with you about finishing the project list you have to do, however, we don't do fascia repair or installation projects. We specialize in kitchen and bathroom remodeling and repairs, and limit our work to larger mid grade to upscale interior residential remodeling projects only. My suggestion is that you seek out a siding contractor or a carpenter contractor who specializes in this kind of work. Besides Angie's List, Milwaukee NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) might be a resource for you. Thanks again for contacting us. Dave" The message above was my only contact with this member, and was sent to her via the Angie's List messaging platform. Imagine my surprise when I saw a grade of "F" from this member in the Bathtub Refinishing & Liners category at Angie's List. First, we don't offer exterior repair services, so it's not that we can't do the requested repair, but the service she requested is not one that we offer. Not every handyman service, home improvement contractor or other service provider offers every conceivable service an Angie's List member may want. We simply don't do exterior work. Secondly, I don't understand the connection between a fascia repair job and leaving an awful review in a totally unrelated category when all we did was respond to a request for service declining the work because we don't offer what she was looking for. In my opinion, this is a totally unfair review, and I have asked Angie's List to remove it from my profile. If this review remains visible, I will let you be the judge of its validity.
