Response from BIG DAVE'S SERVICES
As much as we are capable and equipped to do the work at your home, because you don't own it and rent from another person, I cannot do so. We discussed that I would need the contact information for your landlord regarding your requests for work, and I never received it from you. Without that information, I cannot and will not proceed with the substantial renovations and repairs you had requested. I am very sorry you feel the way you do. Simply put, it would not be proper and legal for me or anyone else to agree to make the door replacements you wished to have done without the property owner's knowledge, permission and consent. It doesn't matter who pays for repairs and/or renovations at a rental dwelling....it's a matter to decide who pays between a landlord and their tenant....but without proper authorization from the property owner or their agent to make any tenant requested repairs, I would be putting our company in jeopardy of legal repercussions from the property owner for agreeing to do substantial renovations (entry door and storm door replacements) without their permission. As much as you would like the doors replaced with smaller doggie doors for your pets, regardless of if you are willing to pay for them yourself or not, you do not own the property, you cannot legally control the nature of the repair/renovation and you cannot make legal agreements with contractors for permanent replacements of structural elements to the home you rent without the property owner's knowledge and permission. Tenants need to work out details of desired repairs with property owners or their agents or managers and be prepared to furnish full contact information for the property owner and/or their agents prior to scheduling an appointment or work order with a service provider.
