Description of Work: We have been taking our 2001 VW Passat to Bachar Auto Services for a number of years. They are truly the best, most customer focused auto repair facility that I have ever used. Description of Work: I originally brought my car in because it was having trouble starting. While they could not find the problem, I did have an oil change done while there, which was affordable due to a promotional rate. Since they needed to test cold startups, they gave me a loaner car for the entire weekend, which was a lifesaver! I do appreciate that didn't try to do unnecessary repairs (honesty), but understandably was just a little frustrated that the problem (ultimately found/fixed elsewhere) could not be found. Overall, they were polite, although sometimes I had to call back to chase an update. |I will try them again in the future.

+ -1 moreLeo is the front-desk guy, friendly guy. I had asked for a general and brake inspection on an earlier visit. There was a small charge for this. They found nothing wrong with the brakes, but did find a frozen front strut. The car rides hard anyway and the freeze-up was gradual, so I hadn't noticed it until they mentioned it. Leo told me I didn't have to have it done immediately, and explained it would be relatively costly because the easy pre-assembled struts weren't available for my car. I soon decided to have it done. They got me in on two days notice. New Monroe-matic struts. The car was ready by early afternoon.

+ -1 moreThe first time I went to Baychar, I was in need of a new repair shop and they were in the neighborhood. Did a great job on my front brakes. They recommended only what needed to be repaired that day (unlike the dealer who always seems to have additional add-ons) and told me what I may need for future consideration. The following week my son's car needed repair and again they provided great service. Now I use them all the time for all my service and repairs. They are trust worthy and friendly and only recommend the necessary repairs

I always feel that I am getting an honest opinion about what work is needed and what is not. Prices are fair and reasonable. My impression is that this is a friendly neighborhood business with many longtime customers.
Description of Work: Baychar replaced front brake pads and rotors, cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes and cleaned the throttle body.

+ -1 moreI have been relatively happy with them. I would tell my friends and family members to go there, I would not tell them to not go there. I haven’t done too much shopping around, so I don’t know how well their prices would compare with someone else who gives the same quality service. If their prices are comparable, and I know that they are not outrageous I would rate them as excellent, if they are not comparable, I would rate them as very good, I just haven’t done my homework. They are awesome in their responsiveness, I don’t know of anyone to compare them with, but I am very happy with them. I drop my car off, I get a quote within a couple of hours, and I am very happy. They usually squeeze me in, and I get my car done the same day. Their professionalism is excellent, and they are quite spontaneous. I can’t expect them to be in suits and talk like Phd’s but they are fine.

+ -1 moreThey are excellent. They get the job done. They repaired my car for free. They take care of it promptly. They wouldn't repair a car for me one time because it's too old and too costly. They encouraged me to get a different car. They will always take their work back and fix it. They're friendly and prompt. They always give me a loaner car for free, if it takes more than an hour. Most of the people they know, they give a loaner car to.

+ -1 moreThey were very polite and helpful on the phone from our first phone call . We chose them because of past Angies list reports and the first phone call . They checked the car , discovered it was not the water pump and called us to let us know it was only a hose . A long and important one . they gave us the new estimate , thrilled us with the savings and were very quick completeing the job . A very , very good service provider . They have earned a loyal customer for our future car repairs . A very high recommendation to them .
Description of Work: We have a Ford Windstar and thought our water pump was bad . It was just a hose and we were thrilled by that fact . We have been searching for a service provider that we can trust and they definitely fit ! We were very happy that they took the time to check where the problem was and didn't just put in a water pump . A lot of providers would have done just that and our bill would have been a lot higher . We called five different service providers and chose them because of past Angies list recommendations and they had the most reasonable estimate . When we took our car in ( we had it towed as it was overheating ) they were very prompt in letting us know the real problem and the price it would be . They had given us an estimate of about $400.00 and the real problem was only $150 .00 . We were very pleased with their service , they were very nice , polite ,helpful , and they explained everything . They have earned a great customer service award with me , and a strong recommendation to anyone needing an auto service . We will definitely be using them in the future for all of our repair needs .

Description of Work: I thought my power steering pump had died. Turned out to only be a hose that was on back order. They put in a temporary fix and followed up so that they received the proper hose and contacted me when it arrived to I could have it put in.

+ -1 moreThe Baychar employees are all professional, kind and knowledgeable. As a woman, I have sometime felt uncomfortable in auto repair shops, but not at Baychar. They made me feel very much at ease. Another great perk at Baychar: they have FREE loaner cars available. I think you need to request a loaner at the time you set your appointment, since there is a limited number of loaner cars. Most auto places charge for a loaner car if you are over the warranty mileage.
Description of Work: They have done many types of auto service work for me over the years, including routine maintenance like oil changes and major repairs like diagnosing and then fixing an engine problem. They are always careful to explain why a particular type of work is recommended to be done, and they are also honest in terms of saying that a certain portion of work could wait a few months, so as to soften the financial blow. I appreciate their straightforward answers and patience in answering what probably the same questions they hear over and over every day.

+ -1 moreBAYCHAR PERFORMED A LIMITED INSPECTION OF MY INOPERATIVE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM, BUT WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. THEY REFERRED ME TO ANOTHER AUTO REPAIR PLACE FOR A MORE COMPLETE EXAMINATION. I WAS TOLD AFTER-THE-FACT THAT BAYCHAR LACKED THE CAPABILITY AND EQUIPMENT TO CONDUCT AN EXHAUSTIVE INSPECTION. I WAS NEVERTHELESS CHARGED THE FULL AMOUNT FOR THEIR INSPECTION. THE SECOND AUTO REPAIR COMPANY DID HAVE THE ABILITY TO CONDUCT A COMPLETE INSPECTION (WHICH IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM) AND DID SO FOR AN ADDITIONAL $150. ALL IN ALL, WHAT SHOULD HAVE COST NO MORE THAN $150 ACTUALLY COST ME OVER $250. WHILE THE PEOPLE AT BAYCHAR WERE DECENT, I BELIEVE THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE CHARGED ME FOR AN INSPECTION THEY WERE UNABLE TO COMPLETE.

+ -1 moreANOTHER SERVICE SHOP WANTED $700 TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND ANOTHER $700 TO REPLACE THE A/C. BAYCHAR SAVED ME OVER $900. INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE A/C THEY REFILLED IT WITH A COLORED DIE AND WATCHED FOR A LEAK, LOCATED IT AND PATCHED IT.
