Action Heating & Cooling

Description of Work: Cleaned the furnace and installed new thermostat. Not sure about the date of service or the cost anymore.

Description of Work: Installed an Aprilaire in my existing furnace. He was very thorough, explained what he was going to do, gave me an understanding of just how it would add humidity to my system, and then after installation, he showed me how to set it, maintain it, and turn it off for summer months. He also cleaned up all his tools and scrap pieces.

Description of Work: Requested estimate for services to include bringing two used gas furnaces that were not working back into service. Property had been extensively vandalized over preceding winter, and furnaces from another property, that were working, were reinstalled by a handyman who did not do a very good job. Action Heating was asked to provide estimate to bring both furnaces back online into working order. Regarding punctuality, they were slow to return phone calls and schedule appointments, which was a problem with their office. When the contractor showed up, he reviewed the situation, and commented on the poor installation, which was accurate. His estimate was to repair the installation, including getting the vent pipes properly hung and secured, repairing how the metalwork was secured, etc. After this was done, he would reassess and suggest additional repairs, if they would be needed (and they probably would be). The primary work to fix the installation, was estimated at over $1300, and would not guarantee that the furnaces would be operational without additional work for unknown additional costs. He was excused, and I received an invoice for only the estimate/service fee, $47.47 (including tax). I then requested a visit from a different contractor (Burkhardt Heating), who fixed the major problems, made both furnaces working, and charged about $350 (see my Angie's List report under that contractor's name).
