Accurate Basement Repair

We purchased a home with a finished basement and when we began pulling it out, we discovered some cracks in the wall and loose bricks. We called in several different companies to determine what type of work was needed to make repairs. The other estimates we received recommended excavating the basement to repair the walls. Bob, our specialist from Accurate said we could do the excavation if it would make us sleep better at night but all we really needed to do was some simple tuck pointing. He even told us how to do it if we wanted to take it on as a do it yourself project. He left us with estimates for doing a basement excavation as well as just tuck pointing the basement. We decided to go the tuck pointing route and not do it ourselves. The Accurate team showed up when the said the would, were professional, neat, and completed everything as promised. The basement looks great and we're thrilled to find a company that we are comfortable working with and trust.

Accurate Basement Repair were wonderful. Phil was great. They knew what they were talking about and they completed the project quite quickly. The only problem I had was with the electrician that they brought in.

What started as our concern with a growing horizontal crack and wall displacement over the winter led to the discovery of more extensive damage. This damage was not visible but behind paneling that had been installed years ago by the previous owner. The damage included wall sheering, more extensive horizontal cracking and several large step cracks. The folks at Accurate were very helpful in finding and explaining what was causing the problem, and how the issues had not been resolved by interior and exterior repairs to one corner of the basement that had taken place prior to our purchasing the house over 10 years ago. Communication was very good with the owners and staff of the company throughout the estimate and repair scheduling processes. The repairs themselves took about a day and a half. The first was a short day to due rapidly changing weather and risk of rain storms, and consisted mainly of dropping off equipment and supplies. The second day a full crew showed up at around 7am and worked into the early evening finishing the job and cleanup. This was a full mobilization of trucks, tools, and manpower and a very well directed and professional operation. The crew explained all stages of the process, took special care to protect the lawn, and cleaned up the interior and exterior work sites and the street in front of our house. If you need basement repair you owe it to yourself to talk to the folks at Accurate. We went with this company due to its positive reviews on Angie's List and their reputation is well deserved.

He was on time and courteous. We thought we had a major drain tile issue, but he narrowed it down to needing a better gutter/drainage system outside. The specific area of the roof was draining to a small gutter and downspout making water overflow and enter the basement. He was very honest and saved us a lot of money by telling us what could easily be done to fix the problem. If we do have water issues in the future, I will definitely call them again.

Did a great job, had someone come over for issues that came up during a home inspection. They gave us an opinion of the work that needed to be done without charge and despite the scope being less than what they normally would work on. They were professional, and didn't push for more work to be done just to have a job and collect a check. Would highly recommend again.

We had about 8 oz. water come into one corner of oir basement after a 2 in. deluge. We called Accurate Basement the next day. Bob came out right on time and allieved our concerns with some expert advise on preventing it from happening again.

I called Accurate after receiving an inspection report from a structural engineer hired by the people who had just made an offer to purchase my home. The engineering report called for over $30,000 of work to be performed on my basement to remediate settling that had occurred over an unknown period of time in my 104 year old basement. Paul from Accurate came to my home, arrived on time and began examining my basement before reading the engineers report so he would not be biased by its contents. He came to the conclusion that while a few long term maintenance tasks should be performed, my basement was in overall good condition. He then read the engineers report, rechecked the areas outlined for the expensive work and again reconfirmed that the soil boring and bracing called for within the report was not required as there was a plausible explanation for the settling and that that it would not reoccur. He then recommended that I get a second opinion from an alternate basement consulting company. It's very rare that you have a contractor to your home to give you a quote and he refuses to give you one because he ethically does not think anything is wrong with your home. Last week, I scheduled an appointment with Accurate Basement Repair. A gentleman named Paul came to see me. He was very polite, cordial, and on time. I had a few different concerns about my basement. One was a wall where we had recently removed a workbench that had been there for many years. I was concerned about some damage to the wall behind the work bench. The other concern was regarding some work done in the past by a different basement specialist. I wasn't sure if I needed any updates (or even if the work had been done properly the first time) and asked for an assessment. I was extremely pleased with the very methodical approach Paul took. He was almost like a detective, exploring and examining how the parts of my particular basement fit together. He didn't just look at one area and make a snap judgment that work needed to be done there. He was full of knowledge, and was able to show me the history of my basement. My house was built in the 20's, so there have been many changes over time. He took out a few books and showed me diagrams so that I could easily see how things fit together. He also called a colleague to consult briefly on the work that the other company had done in the past, as the way they had completed the work was very unusual. I can't tell you how surprised I was when his conclusion was that I didn't need to have any work done by his company. Paul didn't just leave it at that though. Regarding my wall, he showed me a few things to do to take care of the problems. He also suggested a number of things as he walked through the basement. He provided a referral to another company to remove an old oil tank, suggested putting glass block in one of the windows, and talked about how a commercial grade dehumidifier would make a difference with dampness. Furthermore, we walked around the exterior perimeter, and he made a number of suggestions regarding landscaping, explaining it's impact on my basement. He even offered to be available for my landscaper if they had any questions. Finally, he gave me suggestions for improvements to the basement that a handyman could do. Paul also handed me a very nice folder with materials that helped me know more about Accurate Basement. I can't tell you how pleased I was with this experience, and I hope that all of you reading this will utilize these folks. Clearly, they are honest and experienced. I tend to research everything and I'm a hard sell, but I would go with this company in a heartbeat if needed.

We are new to the Milwaukee area, and unfortunately we found out after purchasing our 1927 home that we inherited the prior owner?s seepage issues. When Paul came out for the first (of his many!) visits, he analyzed our dilemma and referred us to a foundation repair consultant. Having a consultant come in was important for us of the legal action against the previous owners. After the consultant provided the evaluation and did a drain tile test, Paul returned to design an interior drain tile repair. He was very knowledgeable, professional and thorough. He explained the necessity for our basement needing two sump crocks and was very descriptive of how the repair process would unfold. The crew arrived on time everyday and we found them to be very hard workers and they knew what they were doing. Plus they kept the jobsite as clean as possible, sweeping and mopping at the end of each day. Accurate surpassed our expectations. From our first contact with Andrea (who is really nice and responsive) in the office through our final walk through with JR, we were definitely impressed. Without a doubt, we made a great decision by hiring Accurate. Basement issues are no fun so do your homework, talk to multiple people but in the end we strongly recommend them to anyone in need of basement repair work.

Bob was on-time and very friendly. I took him in the basement to show him the areas of seepage. He immediately withdrew a moisture-detecting device that looked like a stud finder. He concluded the moisture was high on the foundation wall, especially near the area where there were gutter downspouts. He concluded the problem was with outside grading and the gutters being overwhelmed (they are too small for the size house we have). He then walked the outside perimeter to verify that the problem is with the grade of the landscaping. He didn’t try to sell me on new drain tile or sump. He was very knowledgeable. I won’t get into what two other “basement specialists” told me about my problem, but I assure you it involved tens of thousands of dollars. Bob said we take care of the landscaping and gutters, our problem should go away. If it doesn’t then he’ll come back and we’ll discuss more options. I was extremely depressed after two contractors came out. It was refreshing for a contractor to educate me on how basement drainage works, and who recommends less evasive solutions even if it means they will not get a sale. I HIGHLY recommend this company. I will post later after we try his suggestions to report back whether they worked or not.

We had small water issues and concerns with the foundation. Chris was very thorough and explained everything in detail to us, and never once did he pressure us. Most of our water issues could be corrected by improving grading. He suggested we do that before we spend any money on waterproofing. His advice was practical and he was trying to keep the cost as low as possible. He explained where we had significant foundation problems and needed to address now versus others we could postpone. In the end we did it all as we wanted one and done and not have to deal with this again in the future. The crew that did the work was excellent. Given that it is a dirty job to break cement and dig in the dirt, they did an amazing job at keeping the house clean. Other than dust from the jack-hammering, which is inevitable, the basement was completely clean when they left. The quality of work was excellent, and Junior took the time to explain to me everything that was being done, and answered all my questions. They did the entire job in one day and worked hard to minimize the disruption. The price was very reasonable for the amount and quality of work completed. I would highly recommend Accurate for any foundation or water proofing work.

After receiving estimates from several top tier basement repair contractors in the area, we decided to work with Accurate Basement repair. Most contractors were content with a simple fix, which included sealing the basement walls and installing a new sump pump. In reality, the concrete block was deteriorating and failing. Accurate Basement was the only company to address this matter and provide suggestions on taking steps to cure the problem rather than just patch it. Accurate Basement always acted in a courteous and professional manner throughout the entire process. A daily progress report was always provided, keeping us cued in to what had been completed for the day, and what would be completed the following day. After each work day, all tools/materials were cleaned up and put away, leaving the area clear. Their work was excellent.

They dug the parameter of the basement, replaced the drain tile, re poured the concrete, and also installed a sump pump. They did everything and did not subcontract any of the work. They were in and out. They were also tidy and pleasant. They explained everything thoroughly. If we had any questions or concerns they would come back immediately and make any changes. They are superior people. I would highly recommend this company.

This comapny was totally straight forward and honest with me. They never ever tried to pad the bill. They took the time to explain the work and responded promptly when I had questions.

They were very good. They were very thorough. They were very professional. My experience with the estimate was good. They were very good with their responsiveness and punctuality.

We had noticed that one wall of our basement recreation room was moving inward to the point where suspended ceiling tiles were bending and the tiles were displacing above the ceiling. We had to remove the finished wall in order for the block wall to be examined. We had three contractors provide estimates, with the last one performed in late September. One contractor concluded that excavation was required. One contractor concluded that only bracing with metal beams was needed. Accurate recommended only the bracing (based on measurements taken for the estimate), but included a higher price including excavation if we decided that we wanted the wall moved back to its original position. All three contractors stated that the wall movement was at or just past the limit for avoiding excavation. Accurate submitted the lowest quote and had the best Angie's List rating, so we selected them for the job. It is interesting to note that Accurate included with their quote links to two coupons that would reduce the cost of our job by $100. Nobody else provided comparable cost saving opportunities, even though $50 of the savings would have applied to all of them. Approximately 30 days after selecting Accurate for the job, one of their supervisors came to our home to take measurements for the metal beams they would be installing. He informed us at that time that the wall had continued to move and was now beyond the limit for avoiding excavation. We could actually observe the areas where there had been additional movement and agreed to revise our contract to include excavation. Accurate also had the lowest quote for the job with excavation. Another 30 days passed before the work was performed, and the wall had continued to move during that period. Apparently, the finished wall that I built for our recreation room was sufficiently strong that it restricted movement of the block wall. Over a period of around 60 days, the total wall movement nearly doubled. The basement work was started and completed on 11/18/11. The work appears to have been done perfectly, with minimum disruption/damage to our yard or the basement. We are extremely satisfied with the service we received. It was just unfortunate that we did not realize at the time of receiving estimates that the work had to be done immediately in order to avoid excavation. The amount of additional movement of the wall was not something anyone could have predicted. The additional work increased the cost from $2,100 to $5,800.

I liked the communication and the timeliness of the company. They are locally/independently owned company and that was nice. The owner was accessible and on site which I also liked. They did the job per contract. Any time there were bumps in the road, they were quick to fix and resolve the issue. All in all it was a smooth process.

Accurate did an excellent job with their serivce and enabled the house to be sold - it had been on the market for a year and within a week of their work being complete, 2 viable offers were received and the house sale will close within the month. The actual construction work was done very professionally, within promised time frame, and for the costs estimated. Additional work became necessary as the first phase of the job began and that work and associated cost was communicated effectively so that both phases could be accomplished without a break in service. All workpeople were courteous and neat. Mr. Mancuso, one of the owners came out to meet with my father and I was extremely impressed with how well he explained the process, particuarly as my father is 90 years old. He exhibited much patience and knowledge and helped us understand the process, completely. I have recommended Accurate to others and will continue to do so. They operate in an industry that most people do not want to have to utilize, but they make the process as painless as possible.
