They were very good. What we really liked is that they spent a lot of time looking over the entire property, not just the basement, before the work. The roof, gutters, and surrounding ground around the house were taken into consideration before the repairs and they gave us a lot of good information. They said they always do a drain tile test first which other companies we'd gotten quotes from didn't. They were very thorough and very careful about making sure that everyone involved in the project was on the same page. They were incredibly informative. The paperwork/estimate that was sent to us was very thorough and detailed.
Description of Work: They put in reinforcement beams, replaced about 30 feet of interior drain tile, and repaired cracks in numerous places in the basement.

An important part of the job is the estimator. Accurate's did quite well. He was a bit off on his judgement of ease-of-install, or 'fit', on one of the beams. The installation crew was able to get it fitted into place and secured without damaging existing joist or furnace ductwork. A poor estimator can cause the job to not go well. Next I did the demo of drywall and studding, exposing the hidden portion of wall. Then, with wall fully exposed, a project supervisor visited. He already knew I was doing the demo. His role was to inspect the job in detail, determine beam placement, and (in my case) advise any further stud or drywall removal AND tell me exactly which items had to be relocated. For me it was only electrical lines. No water or HVAC ducts had to be touched. This agreed with what the estimator had told me. I was 'told' by accurate that I had about 2 weeks to get all ready and in my case that was enough time. As far as getting the beams themselves into the basement I was blessed with having large windows in basement, allow beams to be slid into the basement rather than carried through the house. The install crew arrived as promised and was clean and professional. Quite noisy, which couldn't be helped, but I was not prepared for that. My wife and pets were a bit upset. I was able to engage, get and give input with crew foreman. I did stay in basement (with my hearing protection on) to observe and ensure no damage to joist or ductwork was done. I did make a point of staying out of their way, out of their space. Install time was a bit less than expected and they cleaned up and were gone. Accurate arranged the building inspector's visit but hadn't told me. Inspector came later than afternoon and signed off. After I paid the bill the waiver-of-lien form arrived promptly.
Description of Work: Install Steel Bracing Basement. There are two main types of residential basement/foundation repair: 1)excavate and rebuild, or, 2) install steel bracing against inside of basement cinder block wall. Ours was the steel bracing. I had a licensed professional engineer (Jendusa) inspect and provide the proposed fix. I don't know if Accurate would do this on their own or not. I wanted an independent evaluation. Then I shopped the actual installation relying totally on Angie list. I looked for a contractor with good rating, proximity, and experience installing the steel bracing type of repair. I checked with only one contractor. (I have some experience, so could do this; not generally advisable) Using the engineer's report, Accurate 'designed' the work. Part of our cinder block wall was covered with studding and drywall. There was a lot of electrical conduit to be moved. For personal reasons (I'm somewhat handy) I chose not to make Accurate a general contractor and do all demo and replacement of items other than the steel beams themselves. I did relocation of electrical and demo'd the drywall and studs. The $2,600 installed 11 beams along 26 ft of basement wall. The overall project was pretty simple and yielded a strong fix as the orientation of floor joists to basement wall was perpendicular. Braces were 2" x 5" x 7.5' tall. A really important part of such a job is to get the building inspectors of your municipality involved and in agreement. I live in Shorewood which has very strict and engaged inspectors. Accurate took out required permit and seemed to have a good rapport with village. Final inspection by village passed cleanly.

The estimator was thorough in evaluating the situation. He gave an recommendation that matched that of an independent basement assessor. He was not trying to push us for more services than we needed or could afford. He was responsive in visiting a second time to give further estimates on some additional work we are requesting. We haven't chosen to move forward on this work yet, but we will most likely choose Accurate for the job.

Paul came to my home to address some concerns I had about my basement. He explained the possible repairs in an easily understandable way. The company performed a spud test and a drain tile test. They gave me a full written report. I decided not to go forward with any work at this time, and would monitor my basement. Never did I feel any pressure from anyone in the company. I would highly recommend Accurate Basement Repair to anyone who has concerns about their basement.

The owner was totally professional, on time and looked to get the project done correctly and right the first time. As well, this group wanted to engage an engineer because it was a situation that required more than one set of eyes to look at it in order to decide the proper solution. They were on time and pretty complete in what they did. They cleaned up unbelievably behind themselves and took care of everything from helping me with the engineer to getting the permits required to fix; it is a first class operation.

We have a wall in our basement that has water damage. Paul from Accurate Basements assessed the wall and surrounding areas thoroughly, and concluded that the source of the water was most likely a clogged down spout that drained underground. He discussed the steps we should take to cure the problem and also made some other recommendations to protect the wall. Paul was very professional, very thorough and very knowledgeable. He did not try to sell us a costly repair. I was very impressed with Paul and this company and would highly recommend them!!

I think they did a quality job. Communication was not perfect 100 percent of the time. For instance, extra things that need to be done--installing a stationary tub, fixing the radon blower--are not included in the quote. Accurate may arrange for them to do something, but you are dealing directly with them as separate vendors. They are not billed through Accurate. It would be better if Accurate took care of the whole thing, either themselves or with subcontractors.

Fine, estimate only no work performed
Description of Work: Estimate only. Paul arrived at the scheduled time. After looking at what I described as a problem, Paul indicates that the problem was not as severe as I thought and while his firm could replace the column footing, handyman could perform a minor repair for much less. He suggested a firm that he was familiar with and suggested I check them out. It was refreshing to find a firm that worked In an ethical manner. I was grateful for Paul's honest approach and would certainly contact him the future

The repair crew arrived right on time, laid down tarps on our floor and steps to protect our carpeting as they brought all their equipment and the custom made reinforcement beams into our basement and completed their work efficiently and professionally in two hours! The work team was courteous and thoughtful, and we are very pleased with their work. We would highly recommend Accurate Basement Repair, and their 20 year transferable guarantee provides us with great security!
Description of Work: One of our basement walls had developed cracks and had begun to bulge inward approximately 5/8 of an inch during the last 18 years. Since any deviation of the wall more than 1" out of plumb requires outside basement wall excavation and wall straightening in addition to the internal reinforcement process, we called three companies requesting bids to repair our wall before our it bulged any more. All three companies came to our home and developed proposals they submitted to us. Accurate Basement Repair's proposal seemed liked our best option, so we accepted their proposal, signed a contract, and scheduled a date for their work. Prior to their appointment, they advised us of some preparation work that we could do to save money (pull up the carpet in their work area, remove the suspended ceiling, and remove some of the furnishings and cabinetry we had added. They explained that they could do all of this preparatory work, but I was glad to save money by doing these things myself.

We had other estimates but we chose Accurate Basement Repair becausewe were most impressed by their knowledge andthey were on Angies list and had so many great reviews.
Description of Work: We had the entire back wall of our home excavated also the south wall and 8 feet of the north wall. They were done with the evacuation by noon and they removed all the dirt and shrubs, ect. The walls were then waterproofed and straightened. We also had to have 1/3 of our drain tile replaced at the same time they had a crew inside and a crew outside working at the same time.Everyone knew exactly what their job was and they did it very effeciently and quickly. We appreciated the fact that one of the ownerswas on the job working and supervising the job at the same time. We would recomend Accurate to anyone who has any problemswith their basement. We found them to be honest and they really are very good at what they do.

Description of Work: We had what we thought to be a leak in the foundation floor of our basement. Accurate sent a rep out who not only evaluated the situation and described every aspect of floors, walls, sump pumps, drain tiles to us, he pointed out some tips to avoid water in the future. He was fabulous and if we decide to drop another sump pump in, they will definitely be who we chose.

Paul spent a lot of time going over the issues in the basement with us and describing in detail what was normal for basements in this part of the country and made us feel at ease about our basement. He made several suggestions as to help improve the overall condition of our home and basement. He also left us with names and contacts of other professionals should we need them. We did not require his company's services at this time, but would highly recommend them to anyone needing any type of basement or foundation repair work.

Paul Vaccaro came out to the house. He spent over 45 minutes going with us around the outside of the house and taking us around the basement, explaining why there were water stains. He gave us tips as to what we could do outside of the house ( install window wells, improve grading, fix a broken gutter, etc.) as well tips how to keep the basement dry. He said at this point his company's services were not needed but to let him know if his ideas do not correct the problem. There is no question that if Paul had not been honest he could have talked us into paying for unnecessary repairs. We truly appreciate his help and his honesty.

Description of Work: I have an outstanding problem on a building permit that I wanted solved before putting an addition on the house. In about three weeks I will have the other company do the work on the house and write a review.
Description of Work: We were in need of major basement work (approx 20,000.00). We had contacted several companies give us estimates. We had an engineer come and inspect the basement so we would know what the problem was and how to fix it. After a legal battle (two years) we were now ready to have the work done. We had narrowed it down to two companies. We did have Accurate Basement back out along with the other company. I liked Accurate mainly because they were less money. We made our choice to go with the other company. There were lots of reason why we did. I did write an email to Accurate thanking them for their time but we were going with another company. About a half hour later I got a call from Accurate Basement. Paul from Accurate seemed upset that we chose someone else. He was drilling me on what the other company was going to do and the cost of their repair. I felt put in a corner and tried to explain. I did tell him a couple of the reason but began to feel as if I was defining my choice of basement companies. I had to finally tell Paul, "hey look as home owners we make the best choice we can with what we know, we weigh all the options, and read contacts that are given to us and make a decision." I was and am very taken back by the phone call from Paul with Accurate. I believe this is very unprofessional for a company to act this way this is why I gave them an F. They may have done a good job for us I am not sure. However I am glad that we chose someone else.

Response from Accurate Basement Repair
First and foremost, we would like to apologize to the customer for any misunderstanding. We are disappointed (not upset) that we were not chosen as the customer basement repair contractors. Accurate Basement Repair understands that we are not going to get every contract we bid on. When we are chosen as the repair contractor we like to know why and when we are not chosen we like to know why. Good contractors need to know these things in order to constantly improve. Paul had been working on this proposal for over 2 years and had just completed another revised proposal about a week prior. Receiving a brief email rejection didn’t provide us with the critical constructive information needed for our improvement. We encourage Angie’s List members to read the many reports on Accurate Basement Repair. In fact, Accurate has 63 outstanding reports, compared to our closest competitor who has 10. We are Angie’s List Super Service Award Winners for 2010 and 2011, and expect out 2012 Super Service Award is just around the corner. Accurate Basement Repair cares about our customers, and it shows.

I came home from Afghanistan this spring with money saved to work on my basement. I wanted to put in a bedroom, but knew I needed to first make sure the basement would be free from the occasional, but bothersome, leaks I was experiencing. After getting 5 estimates from top companies on Angies List, I chose Accurate. After doing my homework, I based my decision on the number and quality of the reviews they received and the extensive repairs that they performed. Also impressive was that they gave me names of 4 independent foundation inspectors, one of which I hired to help me sort things out (the only company to do that). Paul was the estimator for Accurate, and performed a thorough inspection, giving very detailed explanations and contract. Once hired, they worked with the foundation inspector's report. This was an extensive project. A week of rain and 2 illnesses can cause that. The first full day of work was one very busy day, with at least 10 guys and 4 trucks working simultaneously to get the bulk of the work done. The rest of the work was done over the next few days. There were a couple hiccups. What I liked was that Accurate was willing to work out those hiccups and make it right for me.In the end, quality work shows. And I am very pleased with the work that was done. With such a large project, it was not cheap, but it was definitely worth every penny!
Description of Work: Home is 24 x 24 ft. Removal and replacement of front and side door stoops and concrete slabs. Excavation of front basement wall, straighten wall, install egress window. Braces to front and west basement walls. Repair of cracks on remaining walls. Installation of interior drain tiles plus new sump pump in new location with new electric outlet. Remove old Palmer valve (floor) and cap pipe. Remove old cement double stationary tub and replace. Regrade 3 sides of house.

My basement had water seepage and efflorescence so I contacted Accurate Basement. Paul took the time to provide me with a thorough education on my home's water management system (gutters, drain tile, grading, foundation, etc). I felt that the advice he gave me would be the same advice he would give to his own relative. I would have gladly paid $75 - $100 for the consultation as I feel Paul saved me hundreds by making a few simple recommendations that I could take care of myself. He explained that other companies could have sold me a sump pump system when all I needed was to fix some minor grading issues with a little dirt and make a few adjustments to a couple of downspouts. He truly had my best interest in mind.
