It's still a little tricky, but I thank him for not saying I needed a new door and masonry work. Very honest and easy to talk with. Highly recommend.

I was very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and their openness of my thoughts on the project. They were extremely thorough in explaining what was going to be done and why. They needed to set up scheduling for the chimney repair with my neighbors; they took care of arranging this with my neighbors all on their own. He did a very thorough follow up after the service.

Nice guys. Didn't bring a letter to inspect chimney. The cost for tuck pointing inside and out was very high. Claimed we needed yo replace bricks in the firebox which was not true. We had the repairs gone by another company for less than 1/2 of their estimate snd were very satisfied

Haven't heard from them. Want my money back.

Did not show up for initial meeting, had to call, they came the next day. didn't call to set up time to start, they just showed up one day. they worked 2 days late into the evening and did a very good job. cleaned up after they were through, you would have never known they were here.

Work will be done in the spring for $1,150.

They gave me a time when they were going to show up and they did not show up. Then we rescheduled and they did it again. Then when they did show up they were late. It did not sit well with me. I do not know about the quality, because I cannot get up on the roof to find out. It was for the chimney and they said that I needed some other stuff done. They said that they did not have the time. I was not impressed with them. They did call with in 24 hours to set up the appointment. I had to call them the second time. When they said that there was a whole bunch of stuff that needed to be done, it made me suspicious, because I had just had work done on it. I felt like I could not trust them and I would not recommend them.

Very punctual and professional. I am very pleased with the work that was done. He even repaired my sidewalk cracks for no additional cost

Took several weeks to respond to our initial phone call. Showed up to begin the work without any notice. | |Work was completed properly and in a timely manner. Just need to communicate with their clients a bit better.

He spent 30 min time here and gave me an estimate on the back of a business card for $14,000. He did not spend much talking about the job, he walked around the house, gave the estimate then left. I have decided to go with another provider.

The project came out much better than I ever thought it would. We had pulled up the carpet and tile on the basement floor and it had left a black mastic that we could not get up. We did not want either tile or carpet back in the basement in case of any water leeks. Although A O Handy is in Wisconsin, they assured me that it was not a problem for them coming to Chicago for the work. They ground down the cement floor in the basement (about 1000 sq ft) to remove the mastic and to level out some floor. In addition, they filled holes with a cement that matched the existing floor. They applied a clear sealer to the floor. While they were there, they suggested that they seal the concrete floor in the garage. Since they had all the materials there already, the cost would be significantly lower. Made sense to me, so I had them do that also. In that I had put most of the things from the basement in the garage, preping the garage was a huge job. The guys helped me clear out the garage and were a big help, especially with the heavy things. The only down side to the project was the odor from the sealer. The garage odor cleared out quickly, but it took weeks for the basement to air out since there was so little ventilation there. The finished results: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE??..

I never received a follow up call from AO Handy, and no employee ever responded to my location to provide a quote. Waste of time and cellular minutes. I would not attempt to contact this service provider in the future if they are unable to return a phone call.

I?m not sure how these guys expect to get customers when they treat people the way they treated us. We bought a deal for $49 inspection of the Chimney & Foundations. This was very good value considering it would normally cost $275. We got a call back to organize an appointment within 24 hours of purchase which was very prompt. That?s where the problems started. We arranged a 10am appointment for Saturday. 10am came and went but I thought they might just be running late. I rang at 11am and left a voicemail but never got a call back. Something may have happened so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I rang back Monday morning to the number I had and again no answer so I rang the main number provided on Angie?s list. They did answer. When I explained what happened they apologized and offered a further discount. I told them it was ok as it was already value for money and they told me they would be at my house at 3pm on that Monday. I took a half day from work to be at home but 3pm came and went once again. I rang back and left a voicemail but again no answer until I missed a call at 6.30 last night. I returned the call but straight to voicemail. My blood started to boil at this stage. I spoke to them again this morning and they were very apologetic but am I supposed to hope that they?ll come this time ? third time lucky?? That?s not how business works. I asked for a refund from Angie?s list. I?m sure these guys do good work but they lack professionalism when it comes to contacting their customers. I was extremely angry when it happened a second time and the fact that I took time off of work to be there and they couldn?t even call. What was it George Bush tried and failed to say about fools : "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". I am not going to try a third time. Padraig

Everything went very well. Late fall is their busy season, but they were able to fit us in by working on the weekends.

Did not seem interested in job, did not follow up.

It turned out very well. They braced the inside basement wall and they installed a drainage system on the outside of the basement. They're very diligent workers and they were on time.

Overall the job went very well. The work started when promised and went a little long but the job was extensive so no problems. All of the work was done by hand thus minimizing environmental damage by heavy machinery. The workmanship was of high quality. One challenge we faced was a slight language barrier, but we work through it just fine. I would definitely recommend them for small to medium sized concrete work.

Overall it was OK. The initial inspection went well. They didn't arrive on the agreed start date. I called asking where they were. Never got a response, the work crew just showed up the next morning. The crew was efficient & did good work. I was told they would color match our existing cement work which is cream color, however the repair work is all grey. At first, I hope would lighten up after it dried, but it has been a month and it is still a noticeable difference. The masonry group that repaired our chimney did a much better job color matching. A little disappointing for an A-listed supplier promoted via Angie's List Deals.

We contracted with AO handy after purchasing an Angie's List special for a masonry inspection. AO Handy was the only mason that responded to a request for an estimate for the work. Decayed wood had to be removed from the front picture window as well as affected 2x4 framing and flooring that had become moldy after becoming wet from a leaking window. Before this could be replaced, a masonry wall had to be removed and then replaced after the wood was repaired. Scott, the carpenter, was very helpful and diligent in his work, and did his best to get all the bad wood removed and replaced with new material. He did his best to reseal the window so that it would not leak again. Andy, the mason, did a good job of matching the new and old mortar in the wall and also to seal up the wall area against water leakage. Although the work was not inexpensive, it appeared to me that many masons charge a lot for their services, and don't seem to be very interested in customer service. Andy and Scott were different and did try to do their best on my job. I would recommend them, but don't expect the lowest price for a mason's services.

I was not impressed. I purchased the $55 coupon hoping that I would be able to get much-needed masonry repair done. First, no one replied to my Angie's List message, so I had to call. Then no one showed up at the agreed-upon time for the estimate. Again I had to call. The man finally arrived that evening, Friday, around 7 PM. He took all of ten minutes, in the dark, to do the estimate. He wrote a figure on the back of a business card. I never received a formal estimate.

They were very prompt. Estimator was 5 minutes late and couldn't apologize enough. Checked with a contractor I knew and he said the price was good. They were able to replace some of the bricks with a perfect match. The others were neatly repaired (can't even see where). I will have them back to do our chimney repairs.

A O Handy are very professional, very responsible, very prompt. Masonry is kind of messy work and you would never know, when they had left, that there was masonry done, other than the actual work that they had completed. They just clean up everything. They did an incredible job. They had three guys working their butts off for three days. Their price was very, very reasonable price. They came out right away to give me an estimate. They were so professional and knew exactly what they're doing. They came back the next week, as soon as they could, and got it done. I'd like to give them higher than an "A" for their grades.

They did good work. I was satisfied with the work. The boss came back to check on it, and came back to fix some minor work.

I did not get what I wanted and expected. I paid $425 as a deposit, the remainder at the time the work was finished. I was told I had to wait a couple of days for the grout to dry before I could wash the sand off of the bricks. It turned out it was not just sand but the cement which I contracted him to replace. I called him twice to finish the work, he came out the first time and wiped acid over the area which had no effect and did not come out the second. While he was offering his service, he said that the work would not be finished until I was "completely happy". He said this several times. Unfortunately, I am not happy. I called another mason who said the work would need to be redone. I gave him a 'D' instead of an 'F' because he repaired cracks in areas that I did not hire him for and those areas came out nice. He arrived promptly for the estimate and the work was done (or not done) when told it would be.
