This was a while ago, but Middleton Electric was one of the more positive encounters I had in preparing this house for sale.
Description of Work: Several fixes were required to bring the house I was selling into compliance with new codes and to replace a worn out ceiling fan and light in an upstairs bathroom which required access through a low attic crawl space.

A+ service and responsiveness were truly incredible.
Description of Work: I have used Bob before to put in several energy efficient light fixtures in a home that was built in 1986 and we purchased this home in March of 2007. Bob is professional and thorough. In January we call Bob as we had a lighting problem and he was terrific in responding and was actually able to address our situation quickly and efficiently. We higher recommend Bob to any home owner in the Madison or Middleton area.

It is a 65-year-old house and some things had been upgraded, but a lot of these things needed to be worked on and he did good work. He was prompt, very efficient, and thorough.
Description of Work: I recently worked with Robert Corrigan at Middleton Electric. He has been there in the last month or four to five weeks. He fixed a number of electrical items in the house that were needed to be upgraded or repaired. He replaced some light fixtures. We have recently changed our code and every bedroom now has to have a 10-year smoke detector and every hallways we had to install 8 smoke detectors. We already had 3, but new codes have 8 more. There were some outlets that needed to be in terms of having them at default, interrupt and near where there is water and some other things like that.

Description of Work: Brian installed a ceiling fan, outside light, gas pipe bond, 2 prong to 3 prong outlets in all rooms and added under cabinet light.

Not very well. The quote was to re-wire all the overhead lights and 25% of the outlets. Turns out the outlets weren't on knob and tube and if we had let them finish their work, I would guess the cost of the project would have been equal to or exceeded the quote even though a chunk of the work wouldn't have to be done. The original quote was for $7500. We were charged 6 hours one day for 3 guys to 'buy supplies and travel time'. At $65 per hour, that is a whopping $390 for nothing actually done in the house. They didn't show up 2 days and I had to call to find out where they were and if they were coming or not. The house did have a lot of construction going on but I would say they only cleaned up 50% of their garbage left behind. A big disappointment overall. The wiring work they did do seems to be fine.
Description of Work: Re-wired all overhead lights in the house because they were on knob and tube wiring.

THE SIGNED ESTIMATE #1828 WAS FOR REWIRING APPROX. 45 KNOB & TUBE OPENINGS (SWITCHES, LIGHTS, AND OUTLETS) AND ENERGIZING CIRCUITS. IT ALSO INCLUDED THE PERMIT AND INSPECTION. THE APPROXIMATE COST OF THE ROUGH ESTIMATE WAS $7500. THE TOTAL PAID BY THE CUSTOMER WAS JUST OVER $6100. KNOB & TUBE REWIRES ARE ALWAYS "ROUGH ESTIMATES" ONLY AND BILLED AS TIME AND MATERIAL DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE JOB. WE NEVER SEND MULTIPLE EMPLOYEES TO PURCHASE MATERIALS. THE CUSTOMERS WERE BILLED FOR THE TRAVEL TIME (PER MAN) TO THEIR RESIDENCE AND FOR THE TIME SPENT ON THE JOB. THE DATE TO BEGIN THE JOB WAS SET BUT THERE WAS NO PRE-ARRANGED ARRIVAL OR DEPARTURE TIME. CUSTOMER WAS NOT ON SITE DURING ALL WORK HOURS. WE ALWAYS CLEAN UP WHATEVER MESS WE MAKE. WE HAVE A REPUTATION FOR BEING NEAT AND CLEANING UP. THERE WAS OTHER CONSTRUCTION AT THE SAME TIME AND WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR OTHER TRADES CLEAN-UP. WE ARE KNOWN FOR OUR QUALITY WORK AND PROFESSIONALISM. THE CUSTOMER DESIRED TO COMPLETE THE FINISH WORK THEMSELVES, SO WE PROVIDED THEM WITH A LIABILITY DISCLAIMER AS WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ELECTRICAL WORK THEY WOULD COMPLETE. WE WERE SURPRISED BY THEIR COMMENTS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE COST OF OUR WORK CAME IN AT ALMOST $1,000 UNDER OUR ROUGH ESTIMATE AND OUR WORK PASSED ELECTRICAL INSPECTION WITH NO PROBLEMS.
