Description of Work: They removed a 7 year old driveway and replaced it with a new concrete (tinted) driveway. They did an excellent job. They were professional and prompt. I would recommend them again.

this philosophy so beware.
Description of Work: On the original installation, I thought everything went smoothly. But 18 months later, the driveway was falling apart. Three people in the concrete industry said something must have gone wrong at the installation and agreed he should replace it. After a lot of discussion, the owner agreed to replace all but one square. He only agreed because I said I would write a negative review here and would contact the local tv channel's consumer reports. Months went by without the work being done. I acknowledged that weather was a factor but I asked for it to be done within the next month. I received a letter saying that apparently I could not be happy with them and a check for $2000. I sent the money back asking for enough to cover the project. He then sent nothing so is paying no money at all and said they don't guarantee their work. He was rude and did not hold to his word. He said it was due to winter conditions but if that was the case all driveways done by their company should look this way. I followed all the rules about not salting and sealing. I know that when I make a mistake, I need to make things right. His company does not follow

Response from D&M Concrete Co Inc
Thank you for allowing D&M Concrete to respond to the concerns of one of our customers. It’s my hope that anyone reading this will not only read this response but also all the other reviews here and on our website dmconcrete.biz and then hopefully contact us to help with your concrete needs. Since D&M Concrete started our family owned business in 1960 we have worked hard to build a reputation we are extremely proud of. Customer satisfaction has always been Important to us as evidenced by the presentation to D&M Concrete of the 2011 and 2013 “Best of Middleton “ customer service award and the 2012 and 2013 “Talk of the Town” Customer Service award. We currently have earned an “A+” rating with the Better Business Bureau and an “A” rating with Angies List. Our company prides itself on our customer service and overall customer satisfaction. These are the facts in regards to this situation. On 3/14/2010 we were contacted and asked to submit a bid on replacing the client’s concrete driveway. D&M sent out the contract on 3/17/2010 which featured the job specifications, the jobs final cost of $3,388.00 along with “Lien Rights and ”right to cure” info. The contract also included our one year warranty we offer which follows the strict guidelines for residential construction set by the M.A.B. A. The quote also features a Special note which is in large bold print and clearly states that damage to the concrete surface that is weather related and/or out of our direct control such as scaling of the surface is not warranted. The client signed the Contract on 6/14/10. On July 6th 2010 we completed the project as specified. We do not require a down payment as a sign of trust to the homeowner. This way we feel the homeowner then has control and will only pay us when they are satisfied. This gesture of trust has worked beautifully for 54 years. The job was evaluated by the homeowner. She was very happy and she paid the bill in full for the amount of $3,388.00 the exact amount that was bid. The check was processed and a paid in full receipt along with a “Concrete Care” maintenance Brochure which recommends sealing the concrete every fall was sent out. In Early Feb of 2013 I was notified that the driveway which showed no signs of ware during the Winter of 2010 – 2011 and the harsh winter of 2011 - 2012 now was in its third winter of 2012 – 2013 was starting to scale and flake in some localized areas of the driveway. What the client described to me was scaling of the concrete surface. I explained in detail the importance of understanding that the driveway is not deteriorating. The driveway is structurally sound and the scaling is cosmetic in nature and does not affect the structural integrity of the concrete. I also explained what causes scaling of concrete. Such as freeze thaw cycles, the concentration of water saturation, the use of salt and deicers (which are commonly used to melt ice) which chemically attack and weaken the surface. The presence of Pesticides and fertilizers which can spill on or blow onto the concrete surface which weaken the surface as well? I explained that all these things are weather related and/or completely out of the control of D&M Concrete and that’s why D&M and the Concrete industry in general can not warrantee the scaling of concrete. I then advised our customer how applying a concrete sealer this spring and in the fall would neutralize the scaling from getting worse. I reassured her that the driveway was not being structully affected, only cosmetically. It was not Deterioting. On Feb 11th I was contacted and asked if I could come over and look at the damage and offer any additional advice I might have. I gladly stopped by and looked at the driveway I then sent her a detailed report of what I found with documentation of specific dates and severity of weather events which led to the scaling of the Concrete surface thru freeze thaw cycles along with the record setting amts of salt and/or deicer used to melt the ice from the ice storms that had covered the area. It was my hope that she could use this specific documented weather data and factual information to possibly file a homeowners insurance Claim much like hail damage claims to a roof or siding. I truly felt I was providing the customer service we are known for. To my surprise On April 1st I was contacted and was told by the client that “before she pursued legal options” I needed to meet her on site to discuss the scaling of the surface. I was told that her neighbors husbands Father knew Concrete and told her that we “over finished it” and that we should replace it. He stated we were responsible for the scaling. I contacted the client that same day April 1st 2013 and expressed how yes concrete can be over finished. It happens regularly by amateurs and weekend do it your selfers not by experienced craftsman and certainly not by the experienced craftsman we employ. Three of our foreman have over 30 years of experience each. Our other Craftsmen all have over fifteen years each respectfully. I told her to suggest that any of these men with the level of experience they posses, would allow over finishing of a driveway to occur was insulting. If that some how came across as rude I apologize. None the less I agreed to meet her on site on April 18th 2013 with the hopes that I could further explain how the driveway was poured correctly. I wanted to show her how the driveway could not have been over finished based solely on its appearance. The proof would be right in front of our eyes. All I had to do is show her. Unfortunately when I arrived on site on April 18th to meet her I started to show her and explain to her what caused the surface scaling, and explain how we were not responsible I was stopped in my tracks and was informed that all the documentation along with all the fact based information that I provided was being dismissed by her as not possibly being what caused the scaling. She stated that we were at fault and that was it. She gave me the ultimatum that I replace the driveway at my cost or she would contact” Her attorney, The Better Business Bureau, “Consumer reports” Angies List and all the Local TV stations and news papers.” I was shocked and just walked away shaking my head in disbelief. I could not believe what I was hearing. I was there trying to help. Instead I was being accused. I went back to my office and gave it some thought and decided that we would take the high road, hopefully create good will and most importantly protect our good name and our valued reputation and replace the sections. Even though I knew we did absolutely nothing wrong. Sometimes you just do what you have to protect your hard earned reputation. There was no question in my mind that unless I did as instructed she would follow thru with her promise of aggression and contact Her attorney, The Better Business Bureau, “Consumer reports” Angies List and all the Local TV stations and news papers.” The reputation that we have worked so hard to build for 54 years was being attacked so in order to protect it I reluctantly said I would replace the sections that were scaled. So I emailed the client and highlighted what had transpired at our meeting with the hopes she would reconsider her tactics, take some Time to truly review the documented findings and Factual information that was provided and do the right thing. I suggested that a more fair solution would be that we replace the damaged sections at our direct cost. No profit or overhead would be taken. Instead she reissued the ultimatum and promised to contact “Her attorney, The Better Business Bureau, “Consumer reports” Angies List and all the Local TV stations and news papers.” Unless I replaced the Driveway. So I begrudgingly agreed to replace the scaled sections. I again took the high road and asked what dates would best work for her and I would do my best to accommodate her request. It was now Mid April of this year. We had a late spring and also had lots of rain which caused us to get a late start to the season. We did not pour our 1st driveway until May 3rd of this year. We are still trying to catch up. So when two weeks ago in early July I was contacted by the client and was told that although she acknowledged it has been a wet spring she wanted her driveway done by August 1st. I truthfully responded that it was my goal as well but we were still trying to catch up. Apparently that was not enough of a confirmation for her so she reminded me that “she has kept up her part of the deal and has not contacted “Her attorney, The Better Business Bureau, “Consumer reports” Angies List and all the Local TV stations and news papers.” Yet!!!! AND SHE EXPECTED THE JOB DONE BY AUGUST 1ST. It became painfully obvious to me that D&M Concrete would not be able to accommodate her needs and/or meet the expectations of this client. This was heading south real quick. So I sent the client a check for $2,000.00 to cover the cost to replace the sections which were scaled. I informed her we would not be able to meet her needs and expectations and wished her well. She cashed the check and I believed this situation was finalized. The next week I received a letter and a check for $2,000.00 from the client stating that although she cashed the check she had talked with some people and had second thoughts and decided $2000.00 was not enough money and that she expects me to replace the Driveway or give her a check for $3,300.00 or she would contact “Her attorney, The Better Business Bureau, “Consumer reports” Angies List and all the Local TV stations and news papers.” It was then that I decided that she had gone too far with her “Promises” I refused to be “strong Armed’ any further. I sent back the check, She can keep the $2,000.00 And I considered this matter Finalized. The Final result is she has my $2,000.00 Dollars and now has taken the time to write this review. It’s my hope that she will reconsider her position and take the time to remove it as well. Thank you for allowing me to tell you my side of the story. Daniel M. Knipfer President D&M Concrete Co. Inc.

They are very professional and the work seems pretty good. They chipped the sidewalk but they said that they would be okay with coming out to take a look. They saved us a couple hundred bucks by pouring under our air conditioner. There was some discoloration in the concrete but I don't know if that is normal.
Description of Work: D&M Concrete Co Inc poured a patio and a sidewalk. They also widened the driveway.

Estimate was done quickly and efficiently then was mailed promptly to our home. Scheduling of the job left something to be desired. Once we mailed in the signed estimate we were told we would be called when their schedule was open. This left us with less than a week's notice for the repair of our driveway. However, they arrived at the date and time they promised and completed the entire job correctly by the end of that business day. They provided thorough written information for continued care of the new driveway. Overall we were very satisfied with the work they did and the fair price they provided us. We would recommend this company to our friends.

Everything went very smoothly. They got the job done in one day. Dan is professional and the workers were very friendly and neat. I thought they did a fantastic job. I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: We had several things done - had our asphalt driveway replaced, had 2 feet of the garage floor slab removed and replaced because it was crumbling, and had a step put in by the front door stoop so it'll be easier to step up.
