+ -1 moreI am now calling in a gutter company and a landscaping company to improve the drainage of the water from my roof.
Description of Work: Cliff Verette checked my drain tiles. Another company had said they needed $4300 of work. He showed me that the drain tiles were fine, and that it was probably the guttering and down spouts that were causing the moisture in my basement walls. This was a clear case of honesty and competence on Cliff's part. There seems to be a lot of dishonesty in the foundation repair business. A third company gave me a $25,000 estimate on fixing the drain tiles. Cliff Verrette is an honest person. A rare find.

+ 0 moreThey showed up the day before the job, came into my basement, did the premeasurements. Came out today on Thursday at 8 a.m. with a full crew of 8. Placed down tarp's over my kitchen floor, covered my stair case going down stairs. Chipped away the crack 1 inch on either side, and patched it according to engineers spec's. Cleaned up all trash and could not tell anyone was here. They were Professional easily to get along with informative and answered all questions as they came up.
Description of Work: Foundation wall repair, installed 8 pillars.

Only two issues, one the first day they were here they left door wide open; second they unplugged sump pump, thankfully I didn't need it during that time (only one day that it was unplugged). Minor issue after job completed, but they will remediate when weather improves.

+ -1 moreThey did a very good job. It was extensive work. He did a good job analyzing what the problem was. He got his crew in and got the job done. They cleaned up. They put the walls up and did a great job. I was very happy. The price was competitive and I got a complete job. We were just moving in and they got it done within 3 or 4 days without the door. He had somebody else come and look at it. He said they were crazy and did it a different way. I was just stunned.
Description of Work: I used Verette Construction to do basement repair. They had to reinforce interior basement walls that had already been built.

+ -1 moreMy experience with them was really good! Actually, there were no bad experience at all! I had three different crews in here, and everyone of them knew exactly what to do. I don't know how they do this, but they got out of their crew truck and everybody started moving. Everybody knew what to do. They were very organized, and nobody's saying much. They just knew what to do. They did a really good job, and I'm happy with it! In addition, I thought their price was reasonable. I definitely would recommend them to anybody. If I ever need a work done on the outside, those are the guys that I would call. Everything they did was excellent and professional. I can't say enough about them.
Description of Work: I used C A Verette Construction last week. They did the internal tile.

+ -1 moreHe came out in May to give an estimate. I'm selling a house and my realtor said that I should have somebody check the basement just to make sure it was okay. He was very nice but he didn't measure anything. He just looked and said that some of the walls have to be fixed. Subsequently I had an engineer come in who told me those were the wrong walls that C A Verette had pointed out. He hadn't measured anything but he just eyeballed it and if I had followed his instructions I would have done a wrong thing. That was why I didn't hire him. He returned my calls and he came out promptly. He was professional and nice but did not give me the right information. I don't think he did a very good job.

+ 1 moreWhen we purchased our home there were known basement foundation issues that we had to remedy. We obtained 5 total estimates, and felt most comfortable with Verette due to the knowledge, experience, and solution they suggested. We worked directly with Cliff, and he and his team excavated both our north and west foundation walls (including removing the trees that added to the damage), replaced and fixed the concrete blocks, installed beams as support, waterproofed the entire area, and did a great job with the fill and grading on the outside. Prior to their work we would have pools of water in the basement after most rains - now we don't have a single drop, even though many of our neighbors have had numerous issues with the floods we've been having the past few years. They did an exceptional job!
Description of Work: Due to water damage, north and west walls of home had to be excavated, concrete blocks repaired and replaced, area waterproofed, steel beams put in place, and exterior backfilled and correctly grated.

+ -1 moreThey were supposed to come yesterday morning. They never called to verify the appointment. About 10 minutes before they were supposed to come I called to see if they were still coming. There was no answer. 20 minutes after the scheduled appointment time I called and he answered, he said that he left a message a week ago saying he couldn't make the appointment. I check my messages and never received that message. I canceled the appointment.

+ -1 moreI'm having foundation issues and Rob came out and did an estimate for me. He didn't bring any tools, levels, measuring tapes to see how much my basement walls had moved. He just went off of the home inspector's report. I was disappointed to not be able to get a professtional's second opinion. I got two other estimates for the work that needed to be done and he was by far the most expensive. He also spoke badly about other basement companies. His work/company should be able to stand on it's own two feet without having to make other companies look bad.
Description of Work: There has been movement in my basement walls and rob came out to do an estimate on the work.

+ -1 moreGreat. That a contractor would spend that much time with someone to explain why his services AREN'T needed says a lot. I hope not to have spend a lot of money on my basement anytime soon, but if I ever do, Verette will be the person I call.
Description of Work: I used Verette Construction in May and June 2007 on a major basement repair project in my old home in which he did a drain tile test, stabilized a wall by installing beams, excavated about 600 square feet of the foundation and resealed it with tar, replaced the area with clean fill, re-graded around another area and installed a second sump pump. That whole project was over $3000, and I feel like I got more than my money's worth. When I sold the home, Cliff even met with the buyer to explain his work. So, when I started having seepage issues in my new home, Cliff Verette was the only one I wanted to call. Mercifully, the issues could be solved with landscaping, but Cliff spent 45 minutes with us, poking around the home on his hands and knees, inside and out, pointing out cracks, signs of earlier attempted repair, potential trouble spots, explaining the basic physics of our problems, and explaining how certain materials and landscaping efforts could help solve the problems. That a contractor would spend that much time with someone to explain why his services aren't needed says a lot. I hope not to have spend a lot of money on my basement anytime soon, but if I ever do, Verette will be the person I call.

+ -1 moreThe visit went very well. I'm afraid I don't remember the contractor's first name, but he arrived on time. Very friendly and courteous, he listened attentively to what I specifically wanted and why. He was very careful to disturb as little as possible in the house, and when he came back up after inspecting the crawlspace, he made recommendations for both maintaining the crawlspace and for keeping it dry and as warm as possible. He seemed very knowledgeable and professional. I was pleased that he did not even charge me for the house call since no work needed to be done. I will definitely call these guys when I do actually need work.
Description of Work: They came out and inspected my crawlspace to make sure that it was still supporting the house properly and needed no maintenance.

+ -1 moreConfirmed what I already thought. Our drain tiles are clogged, but was refreshing to see an honest contractor not trying to sell us more work than is needed. Only a portion of the drain tiles needed to be repaired (which we haven't done yet), but we will likely use Cliff to do the repairs. The cost of the test is deducted from the cost of repairs if you use him.

+ -1 moreCrew arrived on time and were very efficient. Had entire wall dug out in one day and prepared the wall for corrections. Moved appliances and were inside and outside, had trucks moving dirt and really seemed to be experienced. Our area inspector is quite strict so we had to install a sump pump and crock but this possiblity had been discussed beforehand so we were fully prepared for it. Every crack and block was repaired and the grading and soil replacement looked better than before we started. The inside was swept and appliances returned to their original place.
Description of Work: Excavate and repair 25 feet of basement wall with reinforcement steel columns. Repair cracks and tuckpoint, water proof outside and replace drain tiles. Straightened wall.

ESTIMATE CAME IN A LITTLE HIGHER THAN THE WINNING BID, BUT IN THE BALLPARK. ALLEN EXPLAINED PROCESS THOROUGHLY, AND HAD I NOT BEEN COMFORTABLE WITH THE COMPANY WHICH HAD THE LOWER PRICE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY COMFORTABLE HIRING VERETTE.
