Fine, but having you over a log, they sure charge you for the service (it was on time and a half due to weekend hours). I'm sure they're all the same. That being said, I've used them before, and am perfectly happy with them. I will say, if they don't clean up after themselves, they should discount the price a bit. Service tech said his towels were frozen, but hey sh*t happens. Not having sewerage backed up in basement is a good thing. Don't be afraid to rent the tool from the big box and watch a few online videos, you can save big bucks. I didn't do it this time because I was recovering from surgery.

Two months later, it went out again. The guy came and reset it and got it fixed. It worked for 8 hours and went out again, continuing to go out every few hours. I reset it myself, and it worked, then quit again. I reset it again. I had the guy come back out, and he reset it again at no cost. I asked him why it keeps occurring, he said they will replace the part. He told me I didn't have to pay for anything and that it's covered. They called to let me know when they were coming to do it. I was not home at the time, and my son texted me that they are asking for payment. I called the office and spoke with the guy who told me it was taken care of, and he told me he did not say that. He then told me that it should be covered by the manufacturer, but I ended up getting a bill. I called them to see what was going on, and he said he would call me back and that was 3 weeks ago and I have still not heard from them. I am unsure whether or not the part was defective, or if they didn't install it correctly, or what exactly happened.
Description of Work: My water heater went out in Aprils so I called them to see what the problem. He replaced the gas sensor valve, and all I had to pay was labor since it was under warranty.

Removal was great. When they were reinstalling a large heavy radiator in the dining room they tried to move it sideways about 1/2 inch to complete the connection of the union by just tightening the union threads but instead of dragging the radiator sideways you could hear the snap sound as the union threads slipped. They did not have anyone in the dining room as they were filling the system so they did not realize that the union was leaking badly and they were flooding the dining room floor. Before they realized what was happening the dining room floor area was leaking through into the basement room below and raining down onto my wood working machines below.

Sales person was very thorough and knowledgeable in describing the various systems available, and the benefits of each system. Components were orders and installation was scheduled promptly. Technician arrived on time and installed the system, spending as much time as required to fully set up and explain the two pump system. We are very satisfied with the product and the business transaction. It should be noted that this was a very complex and state of the art system, intended to provide peace of mind during potential power outages. Between Joe DeBelak Plumbing and the installed system, we now have that peace of mind.

They were on time, professional and cleaned up after them selves. Every time I have used Joe Debelak they have done great. I know I can trust them for any heating / air conditioning or sewer problem. Our service technician arrived on site to troubleshoot a nonfunctional air conditioner. He disassembled the the air conditioner to find the compressor shut down on thermal overload(over heated). He repeatedly tried to get the unit to restart. It would not restart. He reassembled the unit. He then turned off the power and told the customer it needed to be replaced. He quoted her a new unit and then left. The other contractor was able to get the unit to restart and run "temporarily" because the power had been off and the unit was allowed to cool off, as soon as it ran a little while it would over heat and shut down again. To say our service technician did nothing is not stating the facts. To say she was quoted $40. for a service call is also distorting the facts.Any customer, that asks, is told the minimum charge is $138.. ($40 trip charge and $98. for the first half hour labor) We always waive the service fee, if the customer has us replace the equipment. If they have someone else replace the equipment, the service fee is not waived. An $800. price difference, for lesser grade equipment, is common. We sell only quality ,name brand equipment that has a proven track record.

Find a different plumber! I arranged with Debelak to perform service work more than 6 weeks in advance. I confirmed and double-confirmed directly with them... there was no misunderstanding or mistake on the schedule. (I needed to tear apart my kitchen ceiling to access a leaking second-floor bathtub -- and wanted to coordinate the various contractors far in advance so that the work could be done quickly.) When the magic date arrived... NO SHOW! They were supposed to be onsite first thing Tuesday morning. Late on Wednesday -- after promises, promises, and more promises, they said the earliest they could be onsite was Friday. But honestly, after this experience I couldn't trust their word! They were filled with excuses about their lack of internal coordination, other emergency calls, and so forth. In the end, it was all excuses. So, I called a different plumbing contractor (Ideal Plumbing) and they showed up immediately the next morning. Do yourself a favor and avoid Joe Debelak Plumbing and Heating! Find a different plumber!

Day one of scheduled work for Mr. [member name removed], we were unable to do anything as his plaster contractor could not seal off the area due to high humidity. We rescheduled our heating guy for the following day after no work was able to be done as scheduled on the first day. We assumed he would need to push the plumbing back one day as well. Mr. [member name removed] called that day wondering when the plumber would arrive. He was told the plumber had been rescheduled for service/emergencies and would not be there until the following day. This was unacceptable to Mr. [member name removed] and he threatened to call another contractor. He was advised to call another contractor if coming the following day was unacceptable.

The work took less than two hours. He did the work very adequately. However, I was a little shocked at the price as I felt that it was a little high. He was very professional and did his job. He kept me informed with what he was doing. He put a really nice outside faucet in that I will not have to worry about it freezing in the winter. He did a good job.

Members project/repair was quoted as a repair or replace a leaking under ground water service.(Both options were given) There is no way for us, or anyone else, to know where the under ground water service is leaking, prior to digging it up. It is quite common to replace the entire water service, as the likely hood of additional leaks developing in the near future is great. It seems unfair to give us all failing grades, considering we did not get the work, and were unable to demonstrate anything other than a quote. If the pricing was higher than the other quotes, a poor pricing grade is understandable, but the other failing grades seem unresonable.

We called Joe DeBelak at 10PM, because our furnace wasn't working and the house smelled like smoke. They were able to diagnose the problem right over the phone and offered 24hr support. They offered to send out a service technician (for a premium fee - which is totally understandable). We decided to wait for the day time technician. He was at our home by 7:30AM and fixed the main issues within 2 hours. Professional, courteous and prepared. We'll use them again in the future.

too many visits to detail but they were puntual efficient without making a project out of the job. price was reasonable for what needed to be done. I have used others before but never again. these are the only people I now use. been using them for 4-5 years. I have gotten late night emergencey service plus multiple regular visits for various issues. the only time they have ever had to come back was when they tried to save me money by fixing/adjusting a part rather than the costlier expense of replacing the part. they informed me up front and i agreed. unfortunately it didnt work and they came back and replaced the part only charging me for the part. more than fair. the costs of the jobs varied but were reasonable. you get what you pay for.

We got the name of this company from the hot water heater manufacturer's website as a certified technician. When the tech showed up and saw the brand, he said they haven't serviced these for 3 years and they shouldn't be on the website, however he proceeded to work on it. He also told us we needed to tell the scheduler that the heater was under warranty (they didn't ask, how would we know to tell them that). He was on the phone for about 2 hours with the manufacturer trouble-shooting and replacing various items to determine the root cause. He had to leave and go to a store twice to get another part to service it. After about 4 hours, he left (it was 5 pm) and said he would come back Monday (fine, we were out of town for the weekend). He came back Monday to finish the work, again on the phone with the mfg getting guidance. The work was done, and he did eventually fix our heater. However, 1. he should have NOT serviced it with dated experience with the model. His inexperienced cost us $500. That was JUST for the service time he spend (and discounted), the parts were free under warranty.

The member's original call to our company was for no hot water and a leaky relief valve. He never mentioned warranty possibility or brand. Had he mentioned either, he would have been told that we no longer handle/service Bradford White for the manufacturer. We do service that brand, just not for the manufacturer for labor warranty, just parts warranty. We also do not stock their parts. Our technician, Rick, is a skilled, honest technician who has been with our firm for over 20 years. He has been trained in all models of water heaters and is proficient and qualified to repair them. When a water heater is under warranty, it is our policy to call the manufacturer while on site to do the following: 1. To verify the warranty and 2. Check for any service updates for that particular model. Power vent water heaters, like the one the member has, are somewhat temperamental appliances that often work intermittently, making it very difficult and time consuming to troubleshoot. Quite often, repair costs double those incurred by the member when parts are not under warranty. Some of the things the member conveniently fails to mention are 1. The technician chose to leave on Friday at 5:00 PM to prevent having to charge overtime. The heater was still working intermittently when he left. 2. Our technician, Rick, gave the member his personal phone number in case the water heater failed over the weekend. Rick told the member that he would stop by on his own time, as he lives close by, to reset the unit if it failed over the weekend. 3. The member's bill was substantially reduced (approximately 25%). The technician felt bad that it took as long as it did. Rick and I agreed on that and reduced the bill before ever sending it out. 4. The member received his bill on May 21, 2009, which is due upon receipt. His invoice was considered correct if not notified within 10 days, as stated on at the bottom of our invoice. When the bill was 30 days past due, we began calling him. I left him 3 messages which were never returned. The fourth time I called, he actually answered at which point I was exposed to the most verbally abusive customer I have encountered in over 20 years. He called me a (expletive) no less than 4 times. I was simply trying to collect on overdue invoice. I had no idea he was bothered by the cost, as he made no attempt to contact us regarding this. After calling me a (expletive), he said he put the check in the mail. I then thanked him and hung up. No other communication has occurred until this letter from Angie's List. We appreciate a consumer driven site/magazine/list, such as Angie's List, that the consumer can use to "check" contractors before using them. Our rating on Angie's List has always been excellent. We have been in business for nearly 40 years. We provide excellent service at a fair price. We never would have survived the many economic downturns if we had not. In closing, I will not resolve this in what the member believes is fair. I have already reduced the bill to a "fair" price. For what it is worth, I have also placed the member on our "do not service list," as no amount of work or money is worth the toxic spew that comes from his mouth. Should you have any questions regarding this issue, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. Sincerely, Bill Newsbury, President
