Called office a week or so ago before leaving for vacation at 3 pm which was too late to have same day service. I called a few places through Angies list and had no luck with anyone coming immediately. Family was leaving for vacation the next day and needed the washer but it broke too late in day to have anyone come by. Dave's wife who handles the calls is very friendly and said that she could have her husband over first thing after we get back. Dave was scheduled to come by at 8 am and arrived a few minutes early which was great. The washer was making a great deal of noise before finally breaking down and he diagnosed that it needed a new drain pump. He left to go on another appointment and stopped to pick up another pump and was back by 9:45 am this morning and the job was done by 10:15 am. I was very satisfied with Dave's appliance and was glad that I went with them.
Description of Work: Replaced drain pump. $39.95 Service call, $60.00 Labor, $137.60 Drain pump. 12.12 taxes Total $249.67

The serviceman that came out was fine. He also checked out my ice maker which was not freezing water all the way. He had to come back second time to fix the ice maker. I paid both times with a credit card and both times I was double charged almost 1000 total. It took months to get the charges refunded. An employee had to right a personal check to refund the charges. They have numerous issues with the BBB leaving them unsatisfactory rating with the company.

He did a really good job. He had to take out the oven to see what the problem was and then he ordered the part and came back to put the part in later, always calling ahead before he came. He knew what he was doing.

We had a pretty good experience overall. Except that the even heat access control circuit board was apparently on a back order from most parts places. This was the culprit of why our dryer hadn't been working. This repair fell within the Thanksgiving holiday week range, so understandably it may have taken longer to get it repaired. The part cost about $121 so the labor was around $80 - 85 for about an hours worth of work while here. And then there's the tax of course. I suppose you have to figure the travel aspect over to our house to diagnose it.
Description of Work: Our 10 year old Kenmore series 90 dryer wouldn't run unless the start button was held in and then there was no heat anyway. Dave had fixed this problem.

What a horrible experience. They fixed the fridge the first time, and then the same problem happened. Now, even though I made the claim again before my warranty was up, it has expired now and I don't have a working water dispenser. They won't return my calls, and I don't know what else to do.
Description of Work: Dave's Appliance came out Nov. of 2006 to do a warranty repair on a new Frigidaire stainless refrigerator. The in-door water dispenser wasn't working. Scott, the repairman, came out promptly and fixed the problem, although he did say the problem might return. Guess what? In late March 2007 the problem returned. As my one-year warranty was set to expire, I wanted to get it fixed again. I called Dave's and Scott came out again. He told us the entire door would have to be replaced and that it would take awhile to get in. I called Lisa at Dave's after about three weeks of waiting. She responded that the door was in (she should have called me when the door came in) and we set up a time to have it fixed. They never showed up for the appointment. After numerous phone calls, we set up a different date and they didn't show up again, supposedly due to the repair person being injured. Now, after another two months, they aren't returning my phone calls and my refrigerator isn't fixed.

Scott diagnosed the problem and suggested a new compressor for well over $500. As this was a part that was still under warranty, I had to go with a firm that is authorized to work on my appliance. Make sure you understand the difference between servicing all makes and models vs. authorized to work on. When the second company performed the diagnostic, it was determined that it was not the compressor. Did Scott lie to me, or did Scott not know what he was doing? I contacted Dave's appliance for the return of my money, and it was denied.

The repair person came out initially to diagnose the problem. He determined that it was under warranty (the part, not the labor) and took care of all of the warranty work. There was no charge for the initial trip. He came back after the part was in and replaced it, tuned up the washer and the dryer (at our request.) He was prompt, thorough, and took the time to explain everything. The office always stayed in touch with us to let us know the status of the part, always called to remind us of the appointments, and always called to give us a report on when exactly we could expect the repair person to arrive. I would definitely recommend Dave's.
Description of Work: The drum in our front loading clothes washer had come loose and had to be replaced.

ON SEPTEMBER 22ND I HAD AN APPOINTMENT FOR DAVE'S APPLIANCE & REPAIR TO COME OUT AND LOOK AT MY DISHWASHER. APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES AFTER THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO ARRIVE I CALLED AND WAS TOLD THE TECHNICIAN WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY SAID HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO COME OUT THAT DAY AND WE SCHEDULED A NEW APPOINTMENT FOR OCTOBER 3RD. ON OCTOBER 3RD I HAD A 7:00 A.M. APPOINTMENT (FIRST OF THE DAY) AND WHEN 7:30 A.M. CAME AND NOBODY HAD SHOWED UP I CALLED THE NUMBER THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY GIVEN ME. HOWEVER, NOBODY ANSWERED THE PHONE AND NO ONE HAS CALLED ME TO EXPLAIN WHY THEY DID NOT SHOW UP TODAY. OBVIOUSLY, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE LEVEL OF SERVICE.

THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH ON THE PHONE WAS PLEASANT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. SHE WAS VERY DIRECT AND HONEST ABOUT THE FACT THAT IT WAS NOT WORTH REPLACING A BLOWN COMPRESSOR ON A LOW-PRICED FREEZER WHEN I COULD BUY A NEW FREEZER FOR LESS.
