The final product is good and the price was good. The structure all seems to be high quality and with double pane windows it can hold the climate or out well as needed. With screens all around we can let the air move through when we want. The design process was a good experience, but we were not warned that our decisions in dimensions would result in difficulties with regulations and the electrical work. The lack of communication between sub-contractors during the process resulted in several delays. There were times when we were told there would be hand-off and it didn't happen until we prodded them. We kicked it off in the early spring and it didn't complete until August. Early on, the delays were unavoidable due to weather and ground conditions but after the foundation was in it took to long to complete the structure. The problem is not specifically the total time to complete but being left with very little time to replace the yard and driveway before winter.
Description of Work: Adding an attached sun room with new foundation
Sunroom is an addition to the house, off the dining room, about 4 x 4 sqm Did a wonderful job, people were reliable, very friendly, kept us informed what they were doing and when. Alan, the owner , came frequently to check the work. We only hired our own electrician. Sunroom looks great. Took only a little longer than we thought, but was due to weather related back orders

Everything was great in the beginning: done on time, looked great and cleanup was fantastic. Once they had our money and we needed service afterward, everything fell apart. When a window leaked after a bad storm, we were told more than once that their service person was 'extremely busy" and it would be a while before he could get to it. He finally "fixed" it again, only to have it leak again in the same place. After an identical hassle trying to get him out here again, he "fixed" it again; and yes, it still leaked after another bad storm. Only now I was billed for his second visit. I protested to Al the owner by email, laying out the entire situation, and that even according to his own website "That’s why all Kool View products come with a Lifetime Warranty, for as long as you own your home." He did not.respond-- twice. The bills kept coming, and I finally refused to pay. Al finally responded, saying that the warranty against leakage was five years ( 1) This was not explained upfront and 2) we were within that the first time we informed them of the problem), but he said would cancel the bill. Real nice, since it never should have been issued to begin with, and the leak is still not adequately fixed. But wait, there's more. Shortly after their legitimate five-year warranties expired, the motor on the heating unit went out (ka-ching-- $1800), followed by the thermostat on the floor heating mat (ka-ching-- $300+) I understand that they are not directly to blame, but they did spec these products, and it added to the overall headaches, especially when the person who replaced who replaced the thermostat-- a Kool View sub who installed the original-- had to be bugged many times over six months to come out. I'm giving Kool View a D instead of F only because when everything is working properly, our sun room is a very nice place. Ironically, we gave them the job partially because they seemed more professional than the other options around here, which seemed like glorified general carpenters. We were sorely disappointed, to say the least, at their service after the sale, especially for what we paid.

We are so happy with the results. The screened in porch is our constant retreat now,. The workmen were wonderful and so very tidy. Our only complaint was that they didn't start as early ( mid June) as we had hoped due to weather delays. We would definitely recommend this reputable company!

They worked above and beyond to accommodate our needs as the deck was uneven and off center. I give them high marks on everything they did on the initial job. My concern now is with their follow up work and professionalism. The window on our door came apart after general use. We contacted Kool View and asked them to come out and check the issue and repair it under the warranty. Craig made an appointment to arrive Thursday, 5/12/16. I called him to check on ETA and when he called back he advised he wasn't going to make it as he was on another job and couldn't offer a day when he can come by. Craig advised he's very busy and doesn't get much "free time" and the best he could do is call me one day he may be in the neighborhood and drop by. I work close by and advised I could come meet him but I'm still very displeased with what is obviously a brush off. I have a hard time understanding how honoring a warranty is something done in this company's "free time." We are paid customers, fixing our issue should be done via an appointment, not "whenever I can get free time." This situation was handled VERY unprofessionally and I wound up having to fix the window myself. I was able to get it back together, but the bottom frame still tries to come apart when closing the windows and we have to "baby it" when closing.
Description of Work: Kool View enclosed our back deck with the rigid plastic windows.

It went well. We love the finished product. The job took a bit longer than expected due to rainy weather but they pulled out all the stops to get it as done as much as possible for a big party we were having. They were professional and pleasant to work with.

Kool View looked like they were doing a good job and everything. They were going to do the construction using a different technique and we just kind of like what we are doing with a different vendor better. We had them put in a sun room many years ago and they did an excellent job at that point and that's one of the reason why we actually had them bid on another project. They did it promptly, only there was a little hold-up with the cement contractor.Their bid looks good and everything, we just decided not to go with them. It wasn't that we had a bad experience with them or anything; we have to decide who we're going to go with. They were going to charge a little more but not that much more. The bid was competitive. The guy that came out and talked with us was impressive. It was well presented. Some contractors, they say yeah and when they come back and present it, it wasn't exactly what we wanted. They were very responsive to anything that we suggested. We called people that they had done projects with and they were happy with the results. They come whan theyt say they're going to come. They're all very pleasant.

We found Kool View at a builders expo. Had the sales man out to discuss the 3-Season porch conversion. The quality of work was very high. After they started their work we added on additional services. Work was done very professionally and the crew was a pleasure to have in our house. They always worked in a very systematic way to keep our house warm and insulated despite the huge holes they needed to cut for the new windows and doors. They found and would replace ant or water damaged wood without asking and without pointing out to us what a great job they were doing. They replaced it because it was the right way to do things. The main carpenter we had on our particular job, in addition to being a very skilled carpenter, was a lot of fun and a great guy. I plan on asking for Monte for any of our future carpentry needs.

Description of Work: We had a robbery in an apartment building from someone looking into a window. We contacted Steve to see if a privacy film on the window would be an effective deterent to any future problems like this one. He spent time on the phone to help me understand how privacy films work and while it did not seem that it would be appropriate, per my request, met my husband at the apartment that same day to demonstate the film on a small portion of the window. While we found out that his advice had been sound and we did not pursue this further, we thought his information and responsiveness was outstanding and well worth the small amount he charged. We certainly would call him again for any future needs that we might have that Kool-View could provide.
I shopped around with all the local sun room distributors when I decided to add a sun room to my home. Kool View was very professional and responsive to my needs and vision for this home addition. The cost was a good value, as I am confident that this job was done correctly and the room is first class. Kool View offered many more options in choosing construction materials, colors, design ideas, etc. than any of the other businesses I visited. Their construction was completed on time, the craftsmen were excellent - skilled and very easy to work with. I now have two french doors (air lock entrance), 12 x 8 foot sun room, a relocated entrance to my garage, and a new stoop/deck area outside the sun room. This three season room has heat, A/C, multiple electrical outlets including in the tile floor. The three glass walls slide open to become a screen porch and the glass ceiling lets me star gaze or watch the snow and rain storms in my protected enclosure. I have twice had my home appraised since this addition and both appraisals increased in value over the investment in my new addition.
Description of Work: I added on a sun room, as well as two french doors for a new entrance to my home. They moved the entrance to my garage and created a new stoop/deck area. Their services were all inclusive - heat, A/C, electrical work, foundation work, carpentry, dry wall, etc.
Al came to our house, took measurements and gave us a quote for two different quality levels of windows. Both were offered at a pretty attractive discount, though I suspect that had something to do with the economy. There were lots of options for levels of finish, and we ended up doing everything--heated tile floor, cedar siding on the walls and ceiling, etc. It should be noted that we had to procure the tile and the ceiling fan, etc. In addition, there was an allowance for HVAC and for electric, and we paid the contractors separately for any extras here. We paid our deposit and ordered the windows. Construction started on time, and proceeded on schedule. The quality of the work is excellent. We're very happy with the space.
Description of Work: Converted screen porch into four season porch. I opted for top of the line everything, so the project got pretty expensive. However, we now have a beautiful space that we can use year-round. All changes were documented on change orders, so it was always clear what the cost would be, so no complaints there. Al, the owner, is a nice guy and takes a personal role in making sure everything goes right. I would recommend them if you want to do a sun room or a conversion project. It's actually one of our favorite spaces in the house.
Koolview provided a free estimate and free design for a Four Season Victorian Conservatory Sunroom. They explained the project in detail and gave us a 3D design of the completed project. I was provided with references of past customers. When I met with the people they worked with the customers had only great things to say about their sunroom and the project team. This was especially appreciated after my bad experience with a previous contractor that we left. Everyone working on the project was great: great technical knowledge, professional and genuinely nice guys. Easy to work with, everything went smoothly. The guys took time to explain different options as well as the different scenarios that could happen while performing the work. They took the time to clean up after being done. Excellent work and excellent service! The project far exceeded our expectations! Thanks Koolview team!
Description of Work: Koolview built a Four Season Victorian Conservatory addition with subflooring created to support a Tulikivi fireplace. They removed a wall, replaced old sliding glass doors and created a magical space in our home with the addition of the Victorian Conservatory.

Everything was first-rate all the way. Deck was reinforced and design was accommodated smoothly into our house, but at a "unit" price that was lower than total custom work. Work was performed as scheduled. Owner and workmen asked us preferences on small items all along the way, instead of just "assuming" things. Cleaned up nicely every day after work. Very few callbacks, but they were handled quickly and professionally. First rate all the way!

I did not use them. I signed with a company for new skylights, installation and rot repair for about $6,400. ($25,059.)
Description of Work: Wanted to get estimate for sun room repair. They wouldn't warranty the type of repair, wood rot, so they quoted a new modular sun room. It was, by far, the most expensive option I found to fix some bad windows and some minor wood rot.
