Our electrician quickly determined our surge issues were coming from outside the house and the power company would have to repair. Later that day, during repairs an unexpected huge surge blew all GFI outlets and surge suppressors, filling the house with smoke. The electrician came back, determined the extent of damage, repaired the GFI's, reassured us that the house was not going to burn and that the house wiring survived the surge. We very much appreciated his quick response to our emergency.
