For the carpentry we were given an estimate (because you can't really predict the extent of damage before you start fixing it). We were ok with that, what we were not ok with was that in the progress, the repair cost grew from 1000 to about 3500, and no one ever said a word to us, except asking us once if we wanted to repair more things which would have taken one day more (which we calculated, would have costed a few hundreds dollar extra). We both work so we were not present all the time the work was done, so we could not tell how many hours the carpenter took to do the job. Never once we were approached to say that we would have had to pay so much more, until the bill came (we could have decided to keep the house of the same color, to save 1000 dollars, for example). As fas as the painting, that was done on bid and it took relatively a short time. The porch pavement took quite longer, but partially because we also were out of town. Unfortunately, bubbles started appearing right away after it was painted, and Thomas told us to poke the bubbles and scrape the peeled painted off, so that he could come back to paint it over (for free). We repeatedly tried to schedule this over the fall and in this spring, and only after a sequence of no-shows (and a threat of a bad review), this was finally done. However, now it really looks ugly, probably because the previous paint has now aged and the new paint shows up. Thomas offered to bring someone to sand the floor off, and promised he would repaint it for free, but since then he has not replied to any of my contact attempts and he has still given two no-shows (where he tells me he is coming at a certain time, and either he does not show up or he shows up at a different time). In addition to the above, after almost a year, there are some little things left undone which we requested to be done on the day we paid (we should have never paid before the thing was over): for example the very tip of the entrance door is bicolor, and in spite of me reminding them about that, it has not been fixed (I'll end up doing it myself, but it's hard to think you need to finish after a professional you paid more than 8k). I think the quality of the job is probably good at the end, but I do not know what the problem is with this company. Maybe they are over booked, or maybe they need someone who specifically deals with customers and organized their jobs. I personally think it's a pity that they get this review (but I am really ****** off, at this point, and tired of trying).
Description of Work: We hired Thomas's company to repaint the exterior of our house and porch pavement, and fix a deck water leakage issue. The exterior required replacement of some boards since they were pretty old, so a carpenter was brought in to work on that. The work was done mainly in summer 2015
