It did not go well. They broke a desk, left many things at the house and said they were done, and complained about caring things into the house. And after I followed up about the broken desk they were not that polite on the phone. They did reimburse some for the desk but not replacement value.

I used Two Men and a Truck many years ago to move a sofa I bought second hand, and friends who recently moved had used the company and were very pleased with the job they did. When I called, the company contact answered the phone promptly and was able to schedule a move within a few days. The movers had another job earlier in the day, so they only had 4 hours available for the Saturday I wanted to move. I only wanted to move about half of my household in order to leave some items for staging sale of my house, so this seemed perfect. It turned out to be plenty of time, and the movers completed the job in less time than had been allotted. Two teams came: Alex & Josh and Devin & Rob. Alex was the one who coordinated the move and packing of the truck. These movers were professional, efficient, very hard working and a pleasure to work with. They were careful with my furniture, using furniture pads and giving additional attention to fragile items. They were very skilled at getting large items through narrow spaces, like up the basement stairs, and packaged the moving truck very efficiently. I was amazed at how quickly they were able to move everything.
Description of Work: Moved furniture and household goods to a new house within Madison, stopping by an antique store en route to pick up a piece I had purchased.

They showed up an hour and a half late, and upon arrival informed my husband and I that they would only be able to stay for about 30 minutes because they were going into overtime. We told them that was unacceptable, just because their previous move had run long and caused them to be late didn't mean we still didn't need the time we'd originally agreed upon (which was 2 hours). We even called the main office to complain but they basically said there was nothing they could do, if they were going into overtime they had to leave. We were from out of town and had no family or friends there to help us, and I have back problems and could only do very little lifting. So in the time we had, the two men along with my husband moved all the large items into the apartment (it was second story), and then unpacked the rest of the boxes out of the truck and into the garage and left. We contested the charge and ended up only paying about $100. I would definitely never use them again!
Description of Work: Two men "helped" my husband and I unpack a truck that we had driven ourselves from out of state.

The team of Matt and Cory got here right on time. We spent a few minutes showing them all of the rooms and looking over the pieces to be moved. All three bedrooms were on the second floor which could be reached only by an "L" shaped stairway. They got right to work. All furniture was placed per my direction . They worked quickly but carefully. The entire move was accomplished without one scuff mark being made on any of our freshly painted walls. When the team left you couldn't tell that anything had happened except that all of our furniture was back in the house. I also received a followc up call from the office to insure that all had gone well. Very professional organization.
Description of Work: The team moved all of my furniture back into my house after having the house repainted and recarpeted inside.

My overall experience was good with my only complaint directed at the estimator which I will comment on later. TM&T arrived at a reasonable time despite the snowfall the night before. Our crew consisted of Matt, Jeff and Justin. Matt was the lead and he was professional, knowledgable and earnest in his work. Jeff and Justin were also productive and consciencious in their tasks. I would absolutely use these three gentlemen again. The move took longer than the estimate but not because of the crew. They worked with speed and attention to detail. We had no damage to home or possessions. The problem was with the estimator. She knew that we were moving three floors in both the old and the new home. And she also knew there was an elliptical machine and a treadmill to move. These were the items that caused the most problems for the crew. The actual move took almost three hours longer than quoted. I suspect that the estimator deliberately underbid the time so that we would go with TM&T as she know we were competitively quoting the job.
Description of Work: Two Men and a Truck moved all furniture in the household to a new home 10 miles away. No boxes or packing was performed by this company and no appliances were moved.

Hi and thank you for sharing your feedback on Angie's List. I was glad to hear we warranted an A for this move......but concerned about the issues re: your estimate. I am sharing your feedback with our Sales Manager (I'm not sure who specifically provided your estimate). I'd be happy to have her call you to discuss this matter, as we certainly would like to resolve it to your satisfaction. Please allow us the opportunity to leave you happy! Please also know our team would never deliberately underbid just to get your business, because our goal is always to earn your satisfaction with our performance. They damaged a wall in our condo that they had to have repaired. The damaged serval fragile objects that they personally packed and moved which they did not replace. They stole our appliance dolly and shipping blankets which they would never return our call requesting that it be returned. The put over 75 pounds of free weights in one of our plastic laundry baskets causing it to break in multiple pieces. They scratched doors and walls and dented our screen door of our brand new home which they never repaired or apologized for doing. They underestimated the number of packing boxes needed for out move, so we have to purchase more at additional higher cost. They showed up late and took a long lunch which ate into the time we were lotted for our move. We had to pay for additional time for them to finish the move. The two guys who did our move were pleasant. We were disappointed in the theft and damage to our belongs. No apology from the two movers or response from the Company after over 20 calls to their office. I would not recommend them to anyone.

We were very disappointed in the service provided. To provide context, I have used professional movers (often smaller local movers) 4 times in the last 5 years (company moves). I was making a local move and unfortunately was unable to book the movers I've previously used. Two men and a truck was the only option available. The two men that arrived were 30 minutes later than the window they told us they would arrive. As I mentioned before, I have supervised 4 moves in the last 5 years. Had I never supervised a move before, I may have not known any differently. However, this team were not efficient in their moving. I say team because the lead guy was good but his partner was dragging him down. They were not efficient in their moving, did not utilize the dollies, often making trips to the truck without much in their hands. They chose to use an elevator ( I like on the first floor but they needed to go down 10 steps to get to street level) which took longer. Again, I have moved from this exact apartment building and previous movers used the stairs and never the elevator. By the time that they were packed up, it had taken 4 hours. In other moves (from the same apartment and furniture) it has taken 2-3 hours. Unfortunately, my disappointment had only started. They did not show up at our new apartment to unload at the expected time. It turns out there was a medical issue with one of the men and he had to go home. The truck was waiting for a new guy to show up. I understand that these things happen. However, there was no proactive call to let us know what the status was. We only found this out after following up multiple times to the actual men and dispatch. Ultimately, they credited us for time related to them waiting for the new mover. However, in my opinion that wasn't sufficient given the inefficiency of the movers. To be fair, I didn't attempt to get anymore credit. I did not want to work with this company anymore.

SELECTION: I ended up choosing this company because the estimate process was quick, courteous, and professional. I was told that the estimte I received included a little buffer time so that my estimate would be the maximum I should expect to pay. I thought I could help reduce my cost by doing some packing/moving ahead of time, but in the end I still paid more than I was quoted. MOVING DAY: The movers were nice, helpful, and personable, but that's where the pleasantness of the move day ends. They arrived around 8:45. Well within the 8-9 am time frame I was given, but since I was being charged starting at 7:45 am, I'm not really sure why it took them an hour to get to my apartment (Google maps estimates it's a 15 minute drive between their location and that apartment). Once there, packing went exceptionally well. They actually packed in less time than estimated, so that was good. Loading time, however, was longer than it should have been. Previous movers from a local company were able to move my stuff in 1.5 hours. The estimate included a little over 2 hours to load, and a little over 2 hours to unload. In reality, the loading/unloading process took over 6 hours, not including the hour or so that their truck was broken down and no moving was happening. I think a big part of the loading time issue was that they didn't bring out hand trucks/dollies to help move until the very end of the unload process. They were taking boxes to/from the truck one at a time. They also spent time disassembling furniture that didn't necessarily need to be disassembled, as previous movers were successful in moving it without disassembling it. In the end, I probably could've overlooked the extra moving time if the move had been done well, but after all was said and done, I had a full SUV load worth of stuff that was missed by the movers and I had some furniture I had to learn how to assemble by myself because the movers missed it. I do appreciate that the company seems to be concerned about customer experiences once the move is complete. I have followed up with representatives from the company who put me in contact with the assistant manager. I am currently waiting to hear back from the assistant manager about this experience. BOTTOM LINE: If on time, on budget complete moves are important to you, I'd consider a different company. **UPDATE 01/23/13: I did receive a refund for 1 of the hours that the movers went over the estimated time. I appreciate the concern that was shown by the people I talked to after the move, but I wish it didn't take 3 complete weeks to come to a resolution of my concerns.

We were given an estimate that the move would take take 4-5 hours. This seemed reasonable as I had previously moved out of the apartment and knew how long it took those movers. We were given a window of arrival between 8am - 9am. They were late. They arrived at 9:15. Overall the service was slow. They moved items one at a time. They weren't utilizing the tools as efficiently as possible. They often left my furniture/boxes in random places throughout the hallway of the apartment building. They wrapped some of my items very well. They used shrink wrap on the couches because it was raining (very nice). However, some of my items were not wrapped as well (didn't wrap the bed boards). Once I realized how long everything was taking, I requested they prioritize the bigger items and that we could handle the rest. Despite the fact that there was more room in the truck. I felt it would be faster if we did it ourselves in our cars. It took them over 4 hours just to pack up the apartment (and didn't even take all the furniture). In previous moves (in the same apartment) it took 2-3 hours to pack up my belongings . Their original quote was 4-5 hours for the entire move. Unfortunately, one of the movers got sick between the time that they left our old apartment and arrived at our new apartment. I'm aware that this is no one's fault. However, there was no call to inform us of the delay. We only found out once we called to find out if they got lost. In the end we were charged for 3 additional hours over our original quote. They gave us a credit for the downtime associated with their sick employee. However, that did not make up for the inefficiencies earlier in the day. I will not use this company again.

From the quote process to the execution of the move to follow-up after the job was complete, the service was uneven but generally trending toward the positive. The initial interaction with the office to develop a quote and set up the move was efficient and professional with the staff leading a conversation about the details of the move. There were a few glitches in the couple of weeks leading up to the move as there were some hand-offs of projects within the office that led to some confusion on our move but it was all resolved prior to the start of the move. The movers themselves were working hard throughout the move and were good at communicating questions and receiving direction. However, having used a half dozen movers over the years, I would suggest that the crew we had was less on the "handle with care" end of the spectrum and more on the "get 'er done" end of the spectrum. This isn't necessary a bad thing as it tended to reduce the amount of time we were charged for the move; however, there were several scrapes and cracks that could have been avoided with just a small amount of additional care. There was only one item broken (that we know of) and one small area of damage to physical property. After the move, we followed up with the office staff to address the small area of damage that needed to be repaired. It was repaired quickly and without any undo bureaucratic headaches. That is big feather in the cap of this company in an area that some moving companies will fight (no matter how big or small) tooth and nail. This was a B+ move in our eyes and in the world of movers, that in and of itself warrants our recommendation of this mover.
Description of Work: Services Performed: --Packing; This included everything from our flat screen TV's to beds to clothing to dishes and everything in between. It was a full service pack, which included purchasing boxes and packing materials from Two Men and a Truck. Two staff were assigned to packing process. --Moving; This included on the origination and destination end of the move and also the unpacked of several portable storage units at the destination. Two staff were assigned to the load and unload into two multi-level homes.

Scheduling -The scheduling process was kind of a pain because they wouldn't schedule us until we provided an itemized list of what we had to move. The Move There were indeed two guys. One was a younger, affable guy who drove the truck. The other was a mid-30's guy who seemed nice at first. After about 30 minutes of loading our stuff in the truck I knew we were in trouble. -They didn't wrap or pad anything or organize it in the truck so it wouldn't move around during the drive. They just kind of threw it all in there and pushed it to the back. -They carried delicate, antique furniture by themselves, even when my girlfriend asked them to do it together to reduce the likelihood of it breaking. I saw one of the guys bang a 100 year old set of shelves into our steps in front of the house because he couldn't pick it up high enough by himself. -They damaged at least two of our wall painting frames by carrying them close to the ground and banging the frames against the steps as they came into the house. One of the wall painting frames was brand new and now has a giant chip out of one of the corners, showing bare wood. -They tried to move our couches with the cushions on. They ended up dumping the cushions on the ground while turning the couch to get it in the house. It was kind of raining outside so the cushions got mud on them. I had to run out there and grab the cushions off the ground. -The mid-30s guy looked like he was going to die going up and down our inside stairs. He was really, really out of shape. My girlfriend was worried he was going to have a heart attack. We heard him telling the other guy that he didn't want to carry the big stuff up and down the stairs because he was tired; so he made the younger guy do it by himself. -The company called us a few days later to ask how the move went. We told them. They said they'd get with a manager to call us back to maybe discuss a refund. They never called back. -I've moved a lot and have worked with half a dozen moving companies. I've seen professionals do this job. These guys aren't professionals. They're just a couple local guys with a truck that move stuff. If you want professionals who will listen to how you'd like your stuff moved, not damage your furniture and know how to pack and pad things in the truck...hire someone else.

We had hired people off of Craigslist when we moved in and they had taken 45 minutes to unload our truck so we were expecting the same kind of quickness from professional movers. We were disappointed. Anytime we tried to contact them prior to our move, it would take the person we worked with days to respond and the customer service representative actually did not reply to the last email I sent. Our overall experience with them thus far was very poor - at 2:25 they called to say they would be arriving within the half hour - fifty minutes later they finally arrived and were ready to go. From the beginning they complained about the amount of work to be done - one person stayed downstairs and loaded the truck while the other took things to them. After an hour and a half, they took a break which was fine. When they started again, they kept complaining about the work load. They also decided that they weren't going to load up the rest of our things, just the heavy furniture that we wouldn't be able to move ourselves. They didn't quite seem to get that we had hired them to do the work so that we didn't have to. Not to mention that they left two of our boxes outside our apartment that they had dropped. We had told them they were absolutely not allowed to park on the grass when we got to the new apartment. Parking is a bit of a pain, so walked over and parked in the street to save them a place to park. It took them about fifteen minutes to arrive - even though it was less than a quarter mile away. We also noticed that they had not shut the back of their truck door all the way, it was open about two or three feet. They parked on the wrong side of the street and when my roommate pointed that out instead of moving they said @#!% the police. When the police did show up, they moved the truck but parked on the grass, which was something we clearly told them they weren't allowed to do. We know that parking in our complex is hard, but they didnt' try to find an alternate way to park. I had at that point in time called a friend to come over and help while they unloaded the truck. It took them a long time and once again instead of both of them carrying things upstairs, one unloaded the truck while the other moved our things inside. It was another long process and they really started to complain and asked my roommate inappropriate questions such as why aren't your boyfriends helping you move. When my friend and I moved things from our car, one kept asking us why we weren't helping them take our things up - we weren't because we had to move things from our cars even though we had hired them to move with them. When they left, they drove through the grass in the complex and honestly the fact that they were parked on the grass was very embarrassing and their over all behavior was a mix of frustrating and humiliating. We had hired people to move us and they only moved part of our things. We are currently talking with their management about our overall experience. I'm certain that there are some good people and movers who work for them but we just didn't get any. It was a very trying experience and we are hoping it can get resolved quickly. We truly do feel as if we were taken for and overall are very disappointed with our experience. EDIT: We did speak with a manger but their offer to appease us was insufficient since they only wanted to repay us for one hour of the time and we felt as that was not sufficient since we were using their service to move all of our furniture. Their operations manger was supposed to give us a call back today - but we have not heard anything back yet and it's after business hours. Anytime they are supposed to contact us it seems as if it takes them an incredibly long period of time to do so.
Description of Work: We were moving from a 550 one bedroom in Middleton to a three bedroom in the same complex. We had quite a few boxes, but they were all small since the boxes we had been able to get were all beer and wine boxes. We had no appliances and both were second floor.

The two men were polite, professional and courteous and moved all of our items very efficiently. Without being asked, they parked the truck in a location so that the sidewalk was accessible for apartment tenants. They also took a bed frame (which included a bookcase headboard) out to the curb for us.
Description of Work: Two Men & A Truck moved our household items from an apartment to a house. The apartment had a long hallway.

I had knee surgery and couldn't move these things on my own, so I hired them to help. They even asked me while they were here if I wanted them to vacuum since I paid for the hour. I was surprised they offered since they were getting paid to do that. One of the guys offered to take my dehumidifier out and drop it off on his way home. Another guy offered to take my TV off my hands. I've used them before and they have always been great. They like you to be packed when they come and the first time I used them, I wasn't packed up completely. They were very cool about it and a girl even helped me pack.
Description of Work: They took out my antique TV's, which were quite large. They moved some furniture around the house and moved in some new TV's.

They were good to me. What I paid was less then I anticipated. The people I dealt with exceeded all my expectations. They were strong, quick, fast, careful and everything. It was all very good.
