Ted's Painting

Did not complete work. Received a refund from Angies List.

Ted's Paining did not realize I had purchased an Angie's List offer for his services. Once we got passed that, Ted arrived on Sunday, December 9th to paint. He was very detailed, clean, taped and draped the entire work area. Ted is friendly and easy to work with. It took longer than expected (more than the 7 hours included in the initial deal) because there was a lot of detail work. The rate per hour (if work goes over the initial 7 hours) should have been stated in the offer, which it was not. He also said the offer should have stated 7 hours working with 1 paint color, which it did not. I brought this to Ted's attention. He is a professional painter, does a great job, and I would hire him again, but the terms of the offer should be more clear.

This job went remarkably well. Ted first had to sand off a glaze left by a previous painter. He taped all edges necessary, laid drop cloths, and with my two colors did a beautiful job. He primed over the old paints and laid down two fresh coats. This bathroom has lots of 1930s wall and floor tile and he didn't get a speck on it anywhere. Even with its irregular wall surfaces, and many layers of previous paint, Ted managed a beautiful new painted surface. With more time in the day he was able to paint a hanging wall cabinet too, so now the room is perfect! This was an Angie's Big Deal and I got a great deal! I'm veerrryyy pleased.

Ted's Painting came out and said that the job was too complicated and he would not honor the job. He advised me to get a refund.

I called to arrange for a walk through to determine the time and paint needed for the projects (we paid separately for paint). Unfortunately, at the time arranged the first time, Ted didn't show up. I called and initially there seemed to be some confusion, altho I had talked to the same person (his wife?) when the arrangements were made; she didn't seem to remember the plan. However, he came at the next walk through time, and came on time for the actual painting days. The painting was well done, and on time. The clean up was excellent.

The new look is amazing! Ted came when he said he would, called back when I left messages and was responsive to what I was looking for. We would hire him again!

Not on time but finished the next day his normal day off.

After talking to them, the painter and his wife I called you guys and had no problem with my refund. I ended up painting my whole condo 1,790 sq ft for only $575.00 and had it done in three days. He even shampooed my carpet and rehung picture and moved around all the furniture. He has a full time job or I would recommend him to you!

Ted did a great job painting the kitchen. He arrived on time when he came to do the work and he did a thorough job with the actual painting project and clean up. I would hire him again, and refer him to friends.

Arrived on time, painted neatly and cleaned-up well. No complaints. Would highly recommend. Involved an extra day beyond the coupon which was priced very fairly. We had estimates from other area painters and Ted was much less. We had another local painter a couple of years ago and Ted was as good or better. Make him your first call!

It went very well. As I said above, Ted was able to touch up and paint more than I had at first asked for. I didn't know how fast he would work, but he got a lot done in the time he was here.

It was fantastic. He did a very good job. He was thorough in his work and cleaned up after he completed it. He checked in with us at each step. The price was a good deal.

I purchased the coupon offer at the end of February. I was contacted shortly after and told the work could not be scheduled until May. I assumed the special offer contributed to the backlog. It was okay with me since my project did not have to be completed right away. I did have to contact them back near the end of May to set up an appointment. Once I made the contact, I did get a call very quickly to set up a date to review the job and was actually scheduled within a week. Work started promptly on the day we scheduled. He was very professional and careful to cover the floor in areas where materials could be tracked going to and from the work area. The job was completed on time and the work area was cleaned up pretty well at the end of the day. Since the bathroom was not huge, he was also able to fit in a small wall repair job in another room. I didn't expect to get that done with no additional charge, but there was none. The work was completed to my satisfaction and I would consider using the service again.

I live in Stoughton (in Dane County). Ted's Painting lists Dane County as its territory. I purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List and then had the following email exchange with Ted's. Note that at the time the company sent the email to me, I had prepaid for services. I was able to get a refund from Angie's List. The owner of the company personally performed the service in a friendly, professional, and competent manner. I was very satisfied with the service.

Ted showed up right on time and even stayed an hour past what my "special coupon" was for so he could get one more coat of paint on one of the walls in my son's room.

The first day he painted the bedroom with two coats. Upon inspection I realized he did not remove the registers but chose to paint around them. He also painted around a mirror hook rather than remove it (I had removed all other picture hooks.) I had removed all the switch and outlet plates, so I do not know what he usually does with them. I think painting around those items is lazy and not high quality painting. Further, there were many places where the old paint showed through near the door and floor trim. He simply did not do an acceptable job of trimming. I found a small amount of paint on the carpet in the room. He said he must have stepped off the tarps (which included towels) and said I should send him the bill for having the spot cleaned. I have yet to hire a carpet cleaner, so I cannot report if he will pay the bill. Before he proceeded to paint the hallways, I talked to him about my displeasure with his work in the bedroom.. He said that he 'forgot' to tell me that he always goes back the following day to check his work. After our conversation, he did go back to the room and made efforts to correct my complaints. I felt he made an effort to improve the quality of his work over the next three days of painting. However, I am not pleased with the overall result because I notice many places where I see flaws in his work, some of which I will fix and others I will live with. Admittedly, trim work is difficult, but I would never hire him again to paint for me. I expected better quality work.

We had a lot of pillars, high posts and trim that were very tricky to get to. Ted and his son did an awesome job. Very punctual on when they were coming, cleaned up after themselves, great detail work as well as just nice guys. I would definately recommend them to anyone and will have them do work for me in the future.

I have an apartment building in Madison and I have had some water problems, enough to mess up the paint. They are reliable and they kept on top of things. The gal on the phone in the office was very helpful. They are an all around great service.

Update after January 2013 work: Ted again exceeded our expectations with his painting. He painted an accent wall, stairwell and hallways along with the ceilings. Beautiful work, pleasant personality and reasonably priced, especially with the Big Deal coupon we used. Highly recommend! ------------------------------- March 2012: We couldn't be happier with Ted's work. Contacted him initially because of Angie's Big Deal coupon. He stopped by to look at the job and sent us an estimate within a day. Took about 4 weeks from time of quote to start of job but he did battle the flu during that time. The work entailed about 20 hours of labor and spread over about 2 and a half days. It turned out beautifully, such clean lines at the ceiling and between the contrasting walls. Ted was professional and friendly. He is a hard worker and a talented painter and we would definitely hire him again.

I contacted Ted via email, which is very convenient to me. We used phone to finalize meeting to look at the project together, and then he gave me a written quote. The tricky thing was timing. We were somewhat flexible within a certain window, and so worked together to find a time to get the work done that worked for both of us. Ted is the main painter in this business, so if he is busy, you have to work around his schedule. He did a great job of that for us, but we never knew exactly when the work would get done until right before. Ted and his assistant did a great job! They came when they said they would, were neat, professional, efficient, and did a quality job! he kept me up to date on progress, issues that came up, etc. I love the job they did! We were in no rush for a second job, so Ted gave me a quote and told me he would call when he had time. A few months later, he came in and did the job within a few days. It was great quality and worth the wait.

Great! Ted was very friendly and responsive to our needs. We took advantage of his great Angie Deal he had this past winter. We were in no hurry to have the work done and I always know there are customers who like work done immediately so we could wait. When he came for the estimate in early to mid February I mentioned that we could wait until mid March to have it done. When the date got closer he called and told us the most likely day and then called again the evening before to confirm. He arrived on time and was very professional throughout the whole process. The job turned out great! It was a huge relief for us to get the high quality of work for the cost we paid. Working with Ted I would identify the best areas were: price, quality, and professionalism. We will definitely use Ted again. This is one reason I am huge believer in Angie's list - I would have never known about Ted's Painting without the promotion this past winter.

The job went well. Unfortunately for Ted, he got sick and the job was delayed by a week and a half but we were not in a hurry so it worked out fine. He was here every morning around 8am and worked until sometime between 4 and 5pm. He cleaned up after himself and did a very nice job. Our ceiling had not been painted in 19 years and we have vaulted ceilings, so it was not an easy job. He completed the job in the estimated amount of time and we were pleased with the results. I will recommend him to friends.

It went very well. Ted was easy to communicate with. He appears quite experienced in his work and knowledge of materials. He was quite prompt in providing an estimate after I contacted him and scheduled the work quite quickly. The painting job looks very nice. We were quite happy with the quality of the work. He was also quite gracious in responding to many of my 2 year-old's questions about his work :o). The price was a bit lower because we had initially contacted him through the "Big Deal" program off of Angie's List.

Ted's performance throughout the project that extended over five month's was outstanding. The quality of his workmanship was excellent. Equally important, however, he was completely cooperative and accommodating to the concerns of the home owner and needs of the other contractors on the job. He was always on the job timely when he was needed and he was always willing to adjust his schedule to coordinate with other craftsmen during the project. Throughout the project, Ted specified a fixed price for the customer's approval for each task requested and he did not add on to those costs when circumstances required more time and material than he anticipated. I wholeheartedly recommend Ted's Painting for future painting projects.
