Jill was wonderful in assisting me with organizing. Before she came I would shudder looking in my kitchen cabinets or hall cabinets and felt so overwhelmed and helpless to control my clutter. Jill came and showed me that it's a simple process really to go through little by little in order to achieve control over my seemingly-chaotic house. It feels like such a relief and such a weight off my shoulders each time Jill leaves. We also talked about systems that I need to have in place in order to keep things organized.
Description of Work: Jill helped me to organize my kitchen and my closets and basement ahead of putting my house up for sale.

It was a dream come true. I am proud to have someone to into my basement.
Description of Work: My basement went from dreadful to beautiful. I have hired her for another session this week. She is amazing, friendly and ORGANIZED. She was able to put things in catogories, had great storage ideas. Would definitely hire her.

In Dec. of 2009 I stood in my office and tried not to cry. I was so overwhelmed with the mess that I didn't know where to start. I had been injured in a freak accident in 1993. My injuries did not heal, in fact they got worse with time. In 2006 a doctor discovered that I had damaged my spinal cord. I had been bedridden for 18hours a day until the problem was discovered and treated. You can only imagine how hard it was to care for my family. Consequently, things piled up in the house. I realized that I could not deal with this alone, so I looked up organizers in the phone book and found Jill. She was terrific on the phone. She came to the house to assess the situation. I was so embarrassed but after she looked around she stood there with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. I asked what she was so happy about. She said "Your office is disorganized, but it is also clean. This will be easy and it will be fun!" Those are words I would never have chosen. As we worked together I found Jill to be a wonderful person. The biggest thing that helped me is that she was non-judgmental and nothing but encouraging. She could see how much work would be involved and knew what the end product would be although I could not. I was pretty despondent when we started the job, but she lifted my spirits as nothing or no one else had done in a long while. Every week I looked forward to her visits. We worked alot but also laughed alot. Jill is very personable and really knows what she was doing. It was the hardest thing to have to call help in. For one things, I didn't want anyone to see the clutter that had accumulated. I was sweating and talking fast during her initial visit, something I do when I'm embarrassed. Jill truly is non-judgmental. She saw how uncomfortable I was and did everything she could to help me relax. Jill told me how sorry she was about my injury and how long it took to be diagnosed and said it was no wonder things were in disarray. In fact she thought it would be alot worse from my desciption to her on the phone. Jill always kept her professionalism and seems to have an aura confidence and kindness. Jill is truly exceptional. We are now finished with the task I hired her for. I asked her if she could stay on with me and help me with the basement. To my delight she agreed. She said the basement will not take as long as my office because the items we will go through are larger. Going through all that paperwork in my office was excruciatingly tedious. Jill is estimating that we should finish the basement by the middle of July. Jill has truly been a gift since she entered my life last December. I consider her a friend and hope to maintain a friendship once our working relationship is completed. My life is truly so much better since I am not despondent over my situation nor am I anxious not knowing how to conquer this problem. I can now get on with the rest of my life and get back to my profession in Nursing. Thank you Jill!
Description of Work: Because of a chronic illness my home office was a wreck. I had numerous large boxes filled with loose papers and no filing system to speak of. Other things has invaded the room, unfinished craft projects, things to be donated to GoodWill and Lord knows what else. You could not walk into the room. Jill went through every loose paper, sheet by sheet to see what should be filed, shredded or recycled. We went through every item in the room like this. We must have donated 300 books. Jill then helped me use my space wisely, setting up areas to store office supplies, some books, photographs, craft supplies and my desk and computer. She has even helped me set up a filing system for bills and important papers. She honestly left no stone unturned. Jill definitely knows how to organize. She knows where to donate everything and on several occasions has gone to Good Will, St. Vincent's and the Madison Recycle Center for me after our sessions were over. Jill and I worked in blocks of 3 hours at a time. That was the perfect time period to accomplish enough so that you could see the difference in the room, but not too much time so that you don't overwork yourself. I think it worked out perfectly. She also would leave me "homework" to be done before out next scheduled appointment. Once I did not complete my homework because I was ill. That didn't phase Jill at all. We just picked up where we left off. There were some weeks where I did my homework and then some. It became sort of a game with me to see how much I could get done to surprise her. She would always notice what was done when she came back. As I said, Jill has her systems. We would start by marking paper grocery bags with a marker, designating ones for papers to recycle, shred and donations. When we were working on all the papers I would sit at the kitchen table and she would bring me a pile. While I was going through them page by page, she would be in my office grouping things that were alike. This made the stuff in the office look more manageable. Once I finished a pile of papers, she brought me a new one. When we would do papers on recycling day in our neighborhood, we would take our load to the curb and fill my recycle bin. If we still had bags of paper to recycle, we would check out our neighbor's bin to see if there was room for one or two of our bags. Jill would save the boxes as we emptied them so that at the end of 3 hours she would show me how much we cleared away. It was always amazing to me just how much we could do in 3 hours. Whenever we cleared away another "chunk" as I called it, it really lifted my spirits and motivated me to keep going. I have now completely changed the way that I clean, constantly scanning the room for things that need to be pitched or stored in another place. When my college aged girls came home during spring break they were amazed. They tease me sometimes by saying"Yep! Mom's in organizing mode!" Jill has taught me so much that I will use from now on.
