SERGENIAN'S FLOOR COVERINGS

The carpet was okay, I wasn’t too impressed by the install. They were kind of pricey. They’re higher end carpet, so I guess their prices are comparable. I didn’t like the way they installed it. They installed my carpet, but within a few months I can see the seams in-between the carpet, like the places where they pieced it together. Also, the vinyl flooring where it has an edge, instead of prying up that edge they just went over it. Last, but not least they installed it too far into my storage area doorway and I couldn’t close the door. When I called them about it they said it would cost $150 to fix it. They were punctual. They seemed okay, like when you spoke to them they seemed real nice and stuff. They didn’t really stand behind their product very well and they didn’t do a very good installation. They were professional enough, they just didn’t do a good job. When you called them they called you back, they were responsive. I’m not too happy with the way they installed it.

It went very smoothly. The installers arrived on time and were efficient and thorough in their work and courteous and friendly in their attitudes.

Excellent work putting in the tile at 45 degrees to main cabinetry and extending into a closet and under a built in refrigerator. The whole process including store selection, estimator visit, scheduling and installation went very smoothly. We've used Sergenian's for two other projects, one 4 years ago and the other 28 years ago. All 3 experiences were great. They were not the lowest bid but we had the most confidence in them and were not disappointed.

Excellent service. Staff at the showroom were helpful assisting us in selecting the materials we wanted. Installers did an excellent job.

I have only recently become an active member of Angie's List and have been looking for recommendations for carpet sales and installation. I was surprised when I saw all the positive reviews of Sergenians, which sold us a laminate floor some years back. I don't remember exactly when we got the floor or how much we paid (so that information is approximate), but the thing I remember is that when the floor immediately began to show warping in the laminate, we were very dissatisfied. At first, it was just a tiny flaw that was hardly noticeable, but of course we didn't like it. Then another area started to look bad--like cheap shelf-paper that hadn't gone down smoothly. We called Sergenians and they sent a representative out to look at the floor. I pointed out the problems. He acknowledged that it didn't look good but said he couldn't help us. Not unless we were willing to pay a lot more for replacing the bad parts. He said the floor must have gotten wet. Even a drop of water--a little unnoticed slip from a water glass, a drip of coffee, the dog drooling--apparently causes damage to this floor. Even when it is wiped up promptly. What kind of laminate floor is that? Why would Sergenians even carry such a thing? Why would they sell it to unsuspecting customers? The Sergenians man essentially told us we'd been suckered and he seemed pretty happy about pulling one over on us. So, we've lived with this floor, ever vigilant about any little bit of moisture. A spill requires a mad dash for a towel and immediate, down-on-hands-and-knees attention to make sure not a trace of moisture remains. To walk into the room with damp shoes is a major offense in our house. We could never do business with Sergenians again, so, as I said, I have been surprised to see that other customers are treated with respect and fairness. Was our experience an exception to the rule? What did Sergenians have against us? Still, I suspect that there must be other dissatisfied Sergenians customers out there who, like us, have failed to speak up. I apologize to anyone whom I might have warned if I had taken to Angie's List or other social media back when this happened.

We recently purchased a 50 year old home with hardwood flooring throughout (stairs included). The oak floors were a yucky yellow-brown and there were stains in a few rooms. When I contacted Sergenians and mentioned that we wanted to have the floors redone before moving in, they did everything they could to fit us in between other jobs. Over a two week period they completed the work. The two employees were pleasant, hardworking and trustworthy. We entrusted them to lock up the empty house at the end of each day. Most days they were here alone. There were a few days where I was here painting where they were still not working in. Brian the lead employee, mentioned to me that the floors were taking longer than usual to refinish because as they were sanding, the old stuff was coming up gummy. I felt bad for them since they had to do a whole house of this yucky stuff. At first I wasn't convinced that they could refinish the floors without needing to remove the baseboards but I was wrong. Whatever sander they used, it got right up to the baseboards and every nook and cranny extremely well. I checked every closet because I couldn't believe how well they reached each and every corner. They caught every detail. The stains and minor gouges in the flooring were gone. We went with a clear finish and I am so happy with the results. The floors brighten up each room. As you walk throughout the house, it no longer looks as old as it is.

Excellent--Sergenian's is one of the more expensive flooring stores in town, but their service and installation is excellent. Scott Wang was the salesperson and he's a true pro--gives you the information you need but also gives you the chance to digest it and make the decision on your own rather than trying to sell you on something. He always responded quickly to emails and phone messages. This job was part of a remodel of a house we were moving into--when it turned out my first choice of carpet was backordered at the mill he called right away with an alternate that was very similar and let me decide whether to go with my first choice and delay the project or switch to carpet B so the renovation could stay on schedule. We weren't living in the house at the time of installation, so I don't have feedback about that process, but the flooring has been done almost 3 years now and looks great.

Superior service from Sergenians. Whenever I called them, they responded to my request or question right away. Showed up when they said they would. High quality work done. I would recommend them for anyone who wants a project done the right way without any hassles.

They were very good. It was a big job.

.They did an excellent job laying the new carpet and were very efficient , friendly, and were always professional doing their job.. After completing their work , they helped place the heavy furniture back to their previous position. We were very pleased with workmanship and would definitely call them again to do any floor covering work. We must also mention Carmen Knight who was their interior decorator who graciously helped us choose the carpet and did the paper work for the project and our insurance company. Every one that we dealt with were pleasant , accommodating and a joy to interact with regarding this project.

Very knowledgeable at store. When we got down to final choices they explained the differences in performance and how the seams would go with each choice. On day of job Installation team was on time and very professional. They walked my wife through the work and gave options on transition points etc. before moving ahead.

Sergenian's said that seams are inevitable. However, the seam is in the front of the room, not back of room. This is wool carpet with no pattern repeat. Sergenian's said that the color lot was gone and would not consider redoing part of it. The rational from Sergenian's was that doing the carpet this way was a monetary savings to us. Even our interior designer considered this job below acceptable standards; also, designer considered Sergenian's customer service and managing of this project very unprofessional.

Excellent from start to finish -- worked with a great manager there to choose materials, didn't push anything in particular but spent a lot of time explaining durability and other aspects of different carpet and linoleum-like options. Installers came when scheduled and put materials in very expertly, including replacing base shoes and finishing them to match other woodwork. Would strongly recommend using Sergenian's.

The person Sergenians sent out apparently was sent out because he had other work or estimating to do up in our area so it wasn't out of the way for them to come up. The person they had look at our carpet stretching issues really didn't seem to really know what he was doing and the way he wanted to pull the carpet was just the opposite of what made sense. The person who looked at the carpet told my wife that Scott (the party she originally talked to) would call with a quote at the beginning of the following week. That is the last we heard from Sergenians. They never called or followed up in any way. They just dropped us.

Very well. Installers were very professional and did a great job.

The estimator and actual work professionals were very easy to work with. Sergenian's charges more than the average, though the process they use sucks the sanding dust outside of the home, presumably lessening the mess inside. They did not partition off the nonsanded areas from the rest of the house, which was included in other quotes. Overall, this sanding process seems pretty effective as the interior was relatively clean, though dusting was required. The job was quoted for 3 days, but took 4. The quality of the finish was good, though with time, I have found a couple of places where the sealer shows an uneven application and looks like drip marks, in the right reflective light, typically near a wall. They did a good job of not beating up the quarter round, where the wall and floor meet. The walls and wall corners were also well protected. Overall, I would say they were worth a premium, though I would have liked a better result in the final sealer application and a more accurate quote in terms of time to complete the job, versus what really took place.

We were on a tight schedule. Sergenian's sent someone out to do an estimate. We were actually able to schedule for the following week because someone else had canceled. They re-finished the floors in one week. I was impressed by the system because the person sanding was not even wearing a face mask. There was not much dust at all. They sealed the floors, and they look wonderful. We waited 3 days to put furniture in place. They did accidentally blow a fuse on our dryer, but they fixed it by the end of the job. Overall I was very pleased with their service.

I scheduled an appointment with an "experienced" installer. His first question was "are you replacing the existing cabinets?" My answer was no, we want to leave them installed and replace the flooring up to the base, to which he replied, that's difficult, and I said that's why I want to pay a professional to do it. He then proceeded to measure all the while telling me things that would not look right when he got done. When the quote arrived, it was for installation only, no removal of the existing ceramic tile. It was obvious from the quote that the installers were not interested in this job, and their business is good enough to be able to pick and choose the easy jobs, however, a simple phone call telling me they were not interested would have sufficed. I had Bisbee's Flooring in Sun Prairie quote the job. No Problem! They completed the demolition and installation beautifully of our Asian Walnut floor. They did such a great job, we had them come back and install new carpeting elsewhere in the house.

Sales person spent a lot of time showing samples and we were able to take several home. Installation was on time and they did a wonderful job

Sergenian's is great to work with. Carman, the Sergenian's Interior Designer with whom we worked, is fantastic -- she's honest, helpful, and responsive in person and via email or phone. This was our second time using Sergenian's, and I'm sure it won't be our last. The quality of the flooring they sell is fantastic, and runs the gamut of price ranges. They usually have sales and specials going (both on carpet and installation), so make sure to ask about those. Everything was installed on time and as ordered.

The carpet layers were very efficient and polite. Did the job quickly and correctly.

We highly reccommend Sergenian's. The sales representative was very very helpful. The installers were very professional. They arrived on time and spent the first day moving appliances and removing the old flooring. They installed the underlayment and tile on the second day. Spent the third day installing grout and came back on the fourth day to move appliances after the grout had cured. The quality of the work is superior, and the final result is an excellent floor.

The buying process went very well and they were able to get the carpet installed very quickly as we were preparing to put our house up for sale. However, after the installation was complete it all kind of fell apart. The employee showed me the rooms and new carpet and I noticed that the bi-fold closet doors were sitting off to the side of one of the bedrooms and off the track. He casually mentioned, and quot;I couldn't get them back on so you will have to cut them down about an inch or so...and quot; I replied that I have no means to and quot;cut them downand quot; without having a saw. He said he would contact Sergenians and and quot;get it figured out.and quot; Of course, no one contacted me back so after a few days, I called the salesman we dealt with for the purchase (who had been so nice before). He was very quick to tell me that it was the homeowners responsibility to deal with any doors or molding that no longer fit with carpet installation. This was NEVER mentioned to my husband or I during the sale or installation scheduling. I told him that if this would have been discussed with us, we would have made arrangements to take care of this the same day as the installation instead of then having to wait for an appointment with a wood working company. He just continually replied and quot;well it was in the packet we gave you...and quot; He never apologized or offered to take care of this, since they had been negligent in even telling us about that possibility. The packet they gave us had about 100 pieces of paper in it and a TON of information. Something like this should be discussed at the sale and scheduling. We then had to call a special woodworking company to come cut the doors down but when he got there, one of the pieces from the door was missing (probably underneath the newly installed carpet) so it couldn't be put back on the tracks right away. Needless to say, after waiting for a woodworking company appointment, 2 trips to Menards to get the right piece for the door, and an additional $100 charge, the doors were finally put back in place. We felt like the job was not actually completed and were VERY frustrated with their response, or lackthereof. For $100, Sergenians lost us as customers forever.

I worked with Tom in the salesroom. When I told him I was preparing my house to sell, he immediately brought me back to their in-stock selection, which was much appreciated. He didn't try to sell me anything fancy. He gave me a quote and scheduled someone to measure. After the measuring, Tom called me with an install date. It didn't work with my schedule and he said he'd call back. He didn't. Instead, I got a call to confirm the install date, and Gretchen at their office was very kind and found a better time to install. They confirmed prior to coming out. The day of, Gretchen called to tell me that the installer's morning appointment had cancelled, so she wanted to know if I could move my mid-day installation time up to the first install. I didn't have an issue with it, so they got started at 8. Within 1/2 hour, everything had been moved out and the old carpet had been removed. They reviewed the options for the transition to wood floor and their recommendation looks great! They finished in about 2.5 hours (approx. 275 sf). The installers are subcontractors - they don't work directly for Sergenian's - but I knew that ahead of time. They were quick, kind, and helpful. The finished product looks great!
