The whole experience was horrifying. Not only did he not finish the work we hired him to do, he charged us for times he wasn't working, charged us for his friends labor that was just "helping him for no charge", charged us more than 6 hours of time that he spent at Menards, and changed from charging us for the job ($1,000) to $40 an hour without ever mentioning to us that he was charging by the hour! It's fine to take your time, but don't do it and charge me double of what every other quote I got was-out of the blue! He tried to scam us out of 3 times the estimate midway through the job, and refused to due further work unless we paid him what he demanded. When we refused, he tried to blackmail us that he did not get a building permit and would report it, and the work that was completed would have to be removed and redone leaving us out more than a thousand dollars. He lied to us up front knowing we never hired someone to do work for us and said a permit was not needed because he wasn't doing work to the structure of the house...Turns out he lied.We requested a written estimate in the beginning and he never supplied it. We contacted other people he did work for and they also disputed charges, and were displeased with the work. I would never in a million years recommend a crook like Bill Bestle-Sensible Home Improvement.
