They were terrific! Punctual, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. They installed 6 lights that needed new wiring, and we expected to have to bring in a drywaller to patch the walls and ceiling when they were done. But it looked beautiful when they left. They even welcomed the “help” from our shepherd. I’d hire them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: They installed 4 ceiling wafer lights, 2 wall sconces and 2 chandeliers with existing wiring. It was an extensive job.

Fantastic experiences with several of the electricians from Northside Electric. Had major work done on one house that included complete replacement of the electric panel. It was done very well and at a price that was significantly below other area estimates. Also had a very small job done at a different house that was also well done. The electrician did the requested work, while also explaining how we could do similar work on our own in the future if we would like to minimize costs. Overall great experience!

I was very happy with the service, they were very professional, and on time and they get things fixed in less than 2 weeks. Northside Electric's prices, I find are cheaper than others.

Excellent -- Mark was on time, he gave us an estimate that was accurate and walked us through what he had to do and why. He gave suggestions for potential future work he could do in the area (but did not pressure us) and told us what kind of lightbulb to get to maximize the type of outside light. I will definitely be hiring him for all my future electrical work.
Description of Work: I had an outside outlet and light that did not work, and never worked for the previous owners either. Mark came to take a look and resolve.

I have had quite a bit of work done by these guys and overall I am very pleased. The latest time I was invoiced for work that has since not been performed or performed unsatisfactorily. The issue I am having now is that I cannot get a hold of them for scheduling a follow-up or invoice questions. I sometimes call 3-4 times or email 3-4 times and they just don't respond. Like, I need help with getting the work completed to my liking before I pay them. I really want to give these guys an A and if I get a response, I will surely edit this and give them an A. They are normally GREAT. Just don't understand why its so hard to connect.
Description of Work: I needed a cable coax run to my upstairs, under-cabinet lighting installed, and a fix to my doorbell, amongst other services.

Northside Electric was hired to reconnect service to my house in working alongside our public utility company. Initially, the job looked like it was done decently well. However, the lines fell off the house after being connected for five weeks. The knob (a 6" bolt that holds the wires to the side of the house) wasn't installed correctly and as a result, the lines fell off the house. Per the public utility regarding their policy, attaching the knob to the house is the electrician's responsibility. The knob was temporarily attached to the sheathing rather than to the frame of the house. Northside Electric did not offer to take responsibility. If you're going to have work done like this in the future, make sure you communicate with the electrician and the public utility that the knob is attached correctly into the frame of the house.

Mark was punctual, efficient, reasonable, and personable. I am very pleased with his work.
Description of Work: Mark installed wiring for a new garbage disposal. He also ran a new line from main panel, ensuring we did not overload existing circuits, and installed a double switch into the existing receptacle so that we did not have any additional wall damage.

Panels were wired wrong. Did not find out until a few months after the work was done. Called to schedule a time to come back and correct the issues. No return calls. Wrote a letter and received no return call. Was going to take it to court, but just hired another company who I have been using for several jobs since. They provide much better quality, more punctual and as good of pricing. Also know of someone that had work done and it was completely screwed up and wired wrong. He to has moved on to another company rather than deal with the issues.

I had used Mark a few years ago and he was great. Showed up, got the work done. I called him again because some of what he had done wasn't working correctly--the sockets on the gfr's he put in in my bathrooms weren't working, and a sluggish hall light. We had a date, but he called me the morning of saying he was working on a house emergently that had been hit by a car. We talked later that day and set up for the following Wednesday, but like some others who posted here I had no answer after several phone calls this week and my work never got done. It was a small job, but it was following up on his own work. If he didn't want to do it all he had to do was tell me and I could have found someone else. So be careful. If he doesn't feel like doing the job, he apparently just won't, and won't be professional enough to let you know.

Not well at all, very poor communication, no estimate was ever delivered as promised.
Description of Work: Called Mark for an estimate to have my 60 Amp house upgraded to 100 Amp. Mark stopped out 2 times and was here 2 times with MG&E for some needed re-direction from the line to the house. I have not heard from Mark since 5/13/13 it is now 6/11/13 and after email attempts after email attempts, nothing. I need to get this project completed and have decided to look in another direction.

Very easy to work with. We were also able to leave our dog out for the day and they worked around her. We lost an email address but a simple email to Mark cleared up the missed email address. I also mixed up dates that he was coming but he was very considerate of my mistake and promptly rescheduled another time to come within the next week.
Description of Work: Mark rewired our kitchen for us. He put the microwave on its own breaker and the dishwasher on its own breaker. The entire kitchen had been wired to one breaker. He installed a new outlet in a cupboard above the microwave without being asked to, a very pleasant surprise and a nice clean up of the counter. He also replaced a security, motion light on the garage.

Installation took most of one day. Everything was complete and clean when they left. The hardest part of the whole job was getting the estimate organized.
Description of Work: I had an entire basement with only two circuits, and one was overtaxed already. The job had two components: The first was to bring a line from the main breaker panel (which is in the garage) downstairs and install a subpanel. The second was to install a number of outlets. One in the garage off the main panel, and several in the shop area in the garage. The area in which I needed outlets doesn't have walls and so they installed two drops (special cords that come down from the ceiling and have an outlet box at the end). Also had a couple additional outlets installed, one quad outlet by the workbench and another near the subpanel. I made some suggestions about routing the power lines, although they identified a better alternative in a couple instances.

I contacted Mark at Northside Electric about an electric service upgrade. He came within a day or two and provided an estimate. I followed up with phone calls and e-mails and received little or no response. The two times he did respond, he led me to believe that things were on track and the job would be proceeding on schedule. I then had a major power problem and contacted him by phone and he never responded back. I then contacted another contractor who responded almost immediately. Although friendly and seemingly responsive on the estimate contact, Mark was virtually non responsive after that.

The first day he spent 3 hours and 90m minutes on the second day to resolve our issues. All in all he has done great job with a great attitude. Thanks Mark.
Description of Work: My wife called Mark to fix a failed series of electrical outlets (tripped breaker) in our kitchen and some ceiling fan remote controls that needed to be adjusted. He checked over the outlets and replaced some suspect fittings and got the system up and running. The next day however the breaker tripped again and we call Mark back to take a closer look. Upon an extended inspection he discovered that the wiring was far from code with outside lights and a circuit breaker incorrectly installed and the root cause of the problem. He replaced an aging outside light fixture following my suggestion to replace it. He also reprogrammed the remote controls to work as they should. A complex bathroom light switch box and circuit breaker was also non functional and Mark disassembled the switch box and retied out all of the connections to ensure the safety of the system. He also replaced the circuit breaker.

I emailed Mark through Angie's List and he didn't respond. I called him three days later (he apologized for not answering the email) and we set up a time on a Saturday for him to see the job. On that Saturday, he didn't show up. I called him 45 min after our scheduled time and he had forgotten about the appt. But he was able to come over that day. He came over and spent about an hour talking with me about the job. He was very nice and I got a good vibe from him about what type of work he would be doing. He said he would email me the estimate that upcoming week. That week ... nothing. I emailed him and have still received no response (it's been two weeks now). Updated ... Got an estimate two days after I originally wrote this report. The price quoted was average - $1000-1300 with a couple options based on my ultimate decisions. I'm not sure I'll be using this company, still looking at options.

I found them on Angie's List. I am not really sure about the price. It is strange that they did the work in November and they haven't invoiced me for it. I have no idea what they are going to charge me. They were really fast and really professional. The only thing that has been lacking has been the follow-up with regard to the service and the settling of the invoice.
