I'm very happy with the results- I only wish I'd had it done sooner! Josh was able to begin the project pretty quickly after the estimate. On the first day he and an assistant showed up at the prearranged 7 a.m. time, and began sanding the floors. Later that day they put in the wood stain. I had two choices of stain; light, or medium/dark and a couple of choices for the finish (dull/shiny and less/more durable). The next day they returned to put down the finish. Throughout the project Josh kept me apprised of the progress and of anything I needed to do. An example... they used cloth rags in the staining process, and left those drying in the back yard overnight- I was told not to put them immediately into the trash because of the flammable substance. When the project was completed all that was left two neat medium sized bags of trash on the curb. One complaint - Josh did forget our first appointment. I was a bit concerned this would happen since other reviews claimed a similar issue. I called him after waiting about 20 minutes and he was apologetic and came over right away, and very quickly provided an estimate. My floors now look fantastic! My friends have been very complimentary, and one remarked that they looked like brand new floors, which is true. I had no idea I has such a treasure hiding underneath the dark, scratched up, stained floors!

I called around for estimates and Josh got the job because he quoted the lowest price per square foot for installation on the phone and he was very straight forward. He was one of four bids I got. He was conscientous in wanting to do a good job. I am very pleased with his work.

What I am disappointed in overall is the lack of basic customer service. I had 3 people provide estimates. Majestic was the only one who did not make the first appointment, called and set up a later one in which he was late. Since Angie's List gave a favorable rating, I went with them. I was told the job would take 1 day. When I set up the date for their arrival, he said they would arrive at 7:45am. (I don't have anyone else living with me so I need to have people arrive promptly so I can get to work on time). At 7:50am they called and said they wouldn't arrive until 8:30. Unfortunately, I have a job where I have appointments that I get to on time. Therefore, I had to leave the door unlocked which I don't really like doing. When I arrived home that day, I found out that they did not finish in a day. I did NOT receive a phone call letting me know that is the case. (Other contractors have called to explain this so I wasn't surprised). Once again, I had to leave the door unlocked so they could finish the next day. When arriving home the second day, I noticed they left 4 large garbage bags of junk in front of my house in the park lawn/terrace area. When I called to say the garbage needed to be removed, Majestic said that he would charge me extra because that would be above and beyond the estimate. Also, "we always do that." Even though the City of Madison garbage clearly states that they won't pick up garbage left by contractors. I had to move the four garbage bags from the front of my house to the actual place they pick up garbage, which is my driveway on the side of my house. Majestic said that if the city didn't remove it in a week, then they would remove it. Are my expectations are too high such that I expect people to arrive on time for appointments, provide "courtesy calls" when something doesn't go as planned, and remove their garbage or at least tell you up front that they will be leaving garbage behind?

Josh was very easy to work with. His brother and another employee tore out the carpet on one day and did the sanding and staining the next two days. They did an excellent job of the floors. There were only a few concerns. First, I was not asked about whether I wanted a shiny or dull finish on the floors, they were just automatically done in a dull finish. Luckily, this turned out to be a nice finish. Next, some stain got on the bottom of the doorways, leaving marks on the white trim that I, then, had to repaint. Also, the workers left their rags in the backyard and a pile of trash, carpet, paint supplies, Gatorade bottles in the front yard (although the garbage did pick up the items a few days later). The rags had to be left out because they were combustible, but I was not told this until I called Josh and asked him a few days later. Overall the floors looked great, but I would have preferred the clean-up to have been more professional.

They came when they said they would. They got done in a reasonable amount of time. Their price was what they said it was going to be. I would recommend them and use them again.

Excellent. He was predictable, trustworthy, and nice to have around. He works quickly and is neat. I expected a disaster area, with wood dust all around, but there was very little mess. He helped out with changes in schedule to work around other workmen. He came in separately to move appliances in order to protect the new floor.

Josh came on time to give the estimate. I also had 2 other flooring companies scheduled to give estimates but neither called or showed up for our appointment that I had made 10 days earlier. He explained what would happen each day, how many days it would take and what he would need from me to get the job done on time. Overall the job went well. The electricians (who were terrible) took longer then they said and so Majestic had to work with and around the electricians which delayed him a bit. The floors look great. We're very happy with the finish he used. The only thing I was not happy about is the garbage left outside on the curb by them. Several bags of sawdust and cans from the finish. I just wish I would have been aware of this before the work started so I could have been prepared to dispose of it. It is all flammable so it needs to stay away from the house and other garbage. All in all, worth every penny.
