Contacted them to get an estimate on some drywall work. They referred me to their drywall guy (subcontractor) which would have been fine, but he's not responsive. Left him a voicemail, he never replied. Called again 2 days later and spoke with him. He said he'd call me back later that day, but he never called. I tried reaching him 3 more times over the next 3 days (once a day) and he didn't respond to any voicemails left for him. I hate to leave this review for Mike, because he seemed like a nice enough guy, but if you refer somebody, you have to stand by your referral.

After a few calls back in forth we agreed on a time to have two cabinets hung on a wall. We made an appointment for 3pm on a Tuesday, I remember him clearly saying that he would be sending a "two man team" and that he charges $50 an hour per man. I agreed to that and got everything ready for the install. Flash forward to Tuesday instead of his guys coming over it was just Mike. He was very nice and extremely knowledgable. He told me he would send his guys possibly on Thursday if possible, but if not, Friday at 8am for sure. I didn't like that the first appointment this wasn't done but I thought maybe it was just a miss communication. When the team didn't show up Thursday it wasn't a big surprise but after they failed to show on Friday, I was pretty upset and ended up doing it myself. I have a huge amount of work to do and was hoping to establish a relationship with a good contractor, no such luck! I'll keep looking. I wanted to "let Mikey do it", but Mikey has to want to do it first I guess.

[member name removed] contacted me about a job he needed done. I went out to look at the job on the said Tuesday. At that time, I told him the rate was $50.00 an hour, with two men. Not $50.00 each man per hour. The following Thursday/Friday came along. I had scheduled all my smaller jobs that week, and unfortunately, things became busier than I had expected and [member name removed] got pushed back. I called him Saturday to explain, and apologize profusely! Sorry this didn't work. I certainly didn't blow him off on purpose. Things came up and I ran out of time. Told him I could be there first thing Monday morning (tomorrow), but was told he took my advice and installed the cabinets himself. I strive to be timely and professional. I am sorry this happened.

Mike was very responsive, thorough and honest with his initial estimate to raise the back door of my garage to allow for concrete lifting of the adjacent patio. Work was good quality, careful and timely. They made 2 trips to remove the door and frame and do a temporary re-install, and then came back to do permanent re-install based on level of raised back patio. Also sealed a section of gutter that was leaking. Cost was fair for work and very good communication and information. I'm having them come back for another project to build a deck over a concrete back stoop.

The bottom line is that I was very impressed with Mike and his crew (Nami and Paul). They are all professional, reliable and very friendly. I will definitely call Mike again when I need home repairs. I was tired of hearing my bathroom fans screech so loud that they would wake up everyone in the house. So, getting the six fans replaced was a top priority and cost approximately $4,000. This included an unanticipated expense of $500 to have new roof venting that Mike subcontracted out. The original fans had not been properly vented and Mike handled this unexpected event very professionally. Mike quoted me the subcontractor's expenses and then Mike and his crew completed the connection from the fans to the new roof venting at cost-of-materials. This seemed more than fair to me. One of the fan installs required some drywall work which Mike subbed out. The drywaller was great and no seams show. Mike's crew painted the ceiling and it looks terrific.. I also had a huge list of minor home repairs. Mike knew I needed some light bulbs replaced pronto and he came over even before we had agreed on any prices for the fans and other repairs. He replaced those right away. This was a big relief. I was also very impressed with how Mike and his team handled the home repairs. Each one exceeded my expectations. A few stand out as particularly impressive. The laminate trim on my kitchen counters had come loose. Rather than just re-glue the broken pieces, Mike took a strip in to have it color matched and ordered new laminate strips. He replaced all the stripping and left me with some excess for future repairs, if needed. Mike also trained one of his crew on the repair, passing his knowledge on to another generation. Eventually, I will replace the kitchen counter-tops, but with this repair completed, I can do it years down the road. In the meantime, the counters have no unsightly missing trim and I can feel good about the kitchen. The other repair that was particularly impressive was Mike's handling of my dryer venting. He isolated the design problem with my existing venting and corrected the error when installing the new venting. This decreased the linear footage on the venting and made the venting easier for me to clean. Of course, my to-do list grew and Mike and his team tackled everything cheerfully and at a reasonable price. Each day, the crew arrived on time and cleaned up after their work. In a nice win-win, I offered some equipment that was in good shape if it could be dismantled and moved away without any cost to me. One of Mike's crew accepted the offer and off it went. They even saved a donation receipt for the equipment they were not keeping. I was happy reclaiming the space and knowing that the equipment was in good hands and recycled! It has been four months since all of the work was completed and I am very happy with all of the repairs and the bathroom fans. Great workmanship from start to finish. Mike, I will be calling you with my next list...
Description of Work: Purchased and Installed new fans/lights in six bathrooms and installed new roof vents for three. Extensive to-do list, including: Replaced 30 light bulbs in cathedral ceilings. Replaced laminate kitchen counter trim (included materials) Rehung mirror, toilet dispensers, towel bars, curtain rods, closet doors, railings Replaced one electrical outlet Replaced fan/light in bedroom with light Replaced mailbox Re-vented dryer etc.

They did get started a week later than planned, but it went well. As they discovered a few things not in the original contract, they consulted with us about cost and time, listened when we didn't completely agree and took down some tile in the kitchen when it was installed higher than we had indicated. Dan was at the house the whole time and he really is a jack of all trades and we appreciated his standards.

The owner was very knowledgable and personable. We liked him. He hired others to do the work. We were not well informed nor well prepared for the mess on the second floor apartment due to the installation and ventilation process. There was a fine dust on everything and small pieces of insulation left behind. I'm told the workers did cover things and clean up afterward, but still there was fine dust and small pieces insulation. I cleaned the area myself.

Will air seal ceiling mounted light fixture and bath fan on second floor. Insulate sloped ceilings using dense pack cellulose. Includes ceiling repair to paint. Blow in cellulose to R-60 in upper attic. Blow in lower attic space using cellulose insulation to R-60. Install new Kitchen exhaust fan in lower level kitchen. Includes all electrical, venting , switches. Repair ceiling to paint. Spray 2-3 inches of foam in sill boxes that are accessible. Replace windows in basement with sliding thermal pane replacement windows. Install 80 cgm bath fan/light in lower level bath. Includes electrical, venting, timer, and drywall repair to paint. Found Mike through Angie's List discount coupon for attic insulation. It took a while to get to my job, since he had other coupon customers. Mike suggested an energy audit first, which included a large city rebate. Good idea, since pointed out where insulation was needed, especially the garage wall next to the house. He kept to his estimate. He and his crew were on time, very competent, cleaned up after work each day, explained what they were doing, and answered all my questions. Since I was planning to replace old, sagging basement tile ceiling, they tore it down and disposed of it, while getting at the sills and other parts that needed insulation. To do this, they had to remove numerous shelved items in basement to do this. Nothing was broken or harmed. They were very careful on every part of the job. When I had a question near the end, Mike came out himself to explain, although I believe he explained before and with all the information, I must have forgot. Mike does other home jobs. He also installed a gas line to the kitchen stove. I will likely use his services for drywalling the basement ceiling.
Description of Work: Sealing and cellulose and spray foam insulation of my entire 1950's house, which had very little insulation. This included attic, bath and kitchen fans, sill boxes, and adding a wall between house and garage.

Mike's quoted estimate was on a par with other insulators for the sealing and re-insulating but his price for the removal of the contaminated insulation was considerably lower and he had good reviews on Angie's List so decided to go with him. Only issue I had was several date cancellations and rescheduling due to other jobs not getting finished and due to illness in his crew. Once work began it was done in a period of 4 days. The removal was a tedious and undesirable job but Mike and crew got all out and neatly bagged and removed from property. His crew was polite and worked hard at the job. I was impressed by the amount of work involved in the sealing of the attic. My house is noticeably tighter feeling and the thermostat drops more slowly at night when the heat is turned down. I very satisfied with the work completed by Mike and crew and will use them for future projects.

This review is written 5 months after the fact. To be honest, I cannot recall if there was any reason why I didn't get back to the customer. Anytime I have a customer pick out the faucet that they would like me to install, I always give them some hints of the bad/poor brands to avoid. Otherwise, I would like the customer to make the decision of which faucet to install, based on their liking. This certainly wasn't done intentionally, and wish [member name removed] had called again.

This month is the 3rd time I've had Mike come in to do 3-5 days worth of work in my house. He is my go-to handyman and I greatly appreciate that any time I have a problem he has stopped by the house to give it a quick look within a day and then makes a plan to schedule a prompt repair. Mike always arrives when scheduled and completes repairs efficiently and with care, and has very reasonable rates. His small crew will knock out 10 small items in the morning and more in the afternoon. Mike and his crew are very pleasant and professional, and I feel very comfortable leaving the house knowing the repairs will be done to my expectation. They go out of their way to do little things like matching the paint for the small board they had to replace on the outside of my house, instead of just priming it like the last company did. I was amazed last month when I came home and his crew had shoved the front sidewalk while waiting for Mike to position their trailer! I highly recommend Let Mikey Do It for any repair needs you have!
Description of Work: This month Mike completed lots of small projects in my house including fixing the mildew issue with the bathroom ceiling, re-insulating the attic, fixing the bathroom sink drain and upstairs door, installing a new ceiling fan and under the counter lights, etc. In the past I've had him do extensive work such as building a roof over a portion of my back patio, sanding my old windows so they open smoothly, installing beadboard on the porch ceiling, repair poorly installed trim from another company, etc. etc. I've never had a problem that Mike couldn't fix or bring someone he knew in to fix for him (for example, he brought in an excellent dry wall guy for a new ceiling).

Prompt response to email and phone calls Employed 2 friendly guys, who seemed to want to do quality work and cleaned up after themselves each day. Total time for initial work--4 days Subcontracted to a windows guy for evaluation of a problem. Subcontracted dry wall repair after replacement/removal of bathroom fans ? fantastic job. Hard to tell the repair from the surrounding plaster ceiling. Work pending: Identified mold in an approximately 6 foot area in basement sill boxes. Identifying the source/reason requires accessing from the outside under an enclosed deck. Mike suggested this be done in the spring since the winter weather is upon us. Fix some sill insulation that has shrunk and spray remaining area after mold issue is resolved. Discuss additional issues identified by Scott Sailor regarding indoor air exchange and sealing wall between house and garage. Overall, a good experience so far. Kept me informed as to the progress of the work. Employees and subcontractors were competent and trustworthy. Follow up comments on 1/20/2014: Kitchen fan mounted in the attic stopped working during the extremely cold temperatures in mid December. Mike promptly responded and replaced the fan. Later, during another cold snap, fan stopped working again (froze up?). Mike returned my phone call promptly and set up an appointment. When Namio and Paul came to fix it, the fan was working. Nevertheless, Namio adjusted the venting to prevent condensation from reaching the fan itself. The fan has been working since then. Also ,Mike to install a make-up air vent on the furnace ducts to ensure better air quality since the house is considerably tighter than before. Overall, I am satisfied with the work and especially with the prompt follow up when issues occurred. Mike and his employees are courteous, friendly, and seem dedicated to do the best job possible.
Description of Work: Initial work was done the week of 10/21/2013. Installed new fan in kitchen, replaced existing fan in bathroom, removed unnecessary fan in another bathroom and replaced with a can light, and vented all to the outside through the roof. Air sealed can lighting, basement sill boxes, external doors and windows, added weatherstripping to garage service door. Added 2 part spray foam to sill boxes in basement and replaced basement windows with thermopane insulated models. 1/6/2014 -- Installed make-up air vent.

I visited the home in December. He had many issues in his home, including a sliding patio door not closing properly and bathroom vents not properly vented. We looked at his house, and discussed his issues for an hour. At that time, I recommended that he have a home audit done. He told me he was going out of town and would get back to me when he returned. I never heard anything from him again until this review was written. I take great pride in the service that I provide, and feel that this rating review is unjust. At no time did I say the coupon was only good for inspection. It was to be applied to an insulation project, worth $500.00 off. I was surprised by his comments and did not realize there had been a problem or misunderstanding. I do a thorough job of insulation, and don't just throw insulation up in an attic. I have written up an estimate for Akira, and will hopefully resolve this issue.

I am very pleased with all the work that has been done. The window crank and shutters were installed right away. Mike suggested replacing the old pillars with treated wood and then "wrapping" them with cedar, this would be less expensive than full cedar posts. The posts were covered on all sides with 1" of cedar and moldings were put at the top and the bottom. They look great! Unfortunately they found that the octagon window had rotted and a new Anderson window was ordered. The cost of the window was ~$600. It was installed 3 weeks later and looks great. The oak trim on the inside looks better than the original did. Sadly the OTR microwave did not get installed. It seems that space between the cabinets where the range hood currently is slightly smaller that 30" wide and the microwave would not fit without damage to and retrofitting the cabinets. I decided to pass on that one. Mike and his crew were very professional, timely and pleasant to work with. Will definitely recommend and rehire
Description of Work: I requested to have the crank mechanism on bow window fixed so window would open & close, replace the pillars on front porch, fix the octagon window at top of stairs (moisture between panes), replace 3 sets of shutters and install OTR microwave oven.

[Member Name Removed] was very pleasant and patient to work for. Had to order a window, which took 3 weeks to get. She was very patient. Would love to work for her again!
