Mike was very easy to talk to about the project, prompt in showing up for the appointment, and willing to flex on the time due to my work schedule. His crew arrived a couple days early because this job was through the Green Madison Program and there was a tight dead line for completing the work. When does that ever happen? And they finished on time, even better. His crew was prompt and polite throughout the project. The cleanup was pretty good, and they were careful to put down plastic on the carpeting where they walked. This is one detail a previous contractor's crew did not do, so I'll still have to get the carpets cleaned. Mike knows a lot more than just insulation, like cleaning dryer vents, and wiring bathroom fans. So take a look at the other things he can do for you. As for price, he came in right on the money. I would call him again, for all other kinds of tasks that are beyond my expertise.

Exquisite and unique basement remodel. The entire job was preformed in ten days. All jobs where finished on time or ahead of schedule. The various jobs included electrical, drywall, finish work, painting and carpentry work. The 8 foot closet was custom built, with antique Japaneses doors for closures. The price was very reasonable and they finished on time which I was very impressed and appreciated. I have owned 200 homes and have hired many contractors but extremely impressed with this group.

We were very pleased with his work. He was on time, the work was done in a great fashion, and we just thought he was good.

Said he would be able to give me a call on Monday to let me know price estimate and could probably fix it Tuesday. Two people showed up on Monday and fixed the problem. I did not know what it was going to cost. However called him right away while they were here and got a cost of $80 an hour which was fine. But did not realize we would have to pay that for both people until we got the bill. (I did not realize 2 man job.) I was still very happy with the work and while they were here they helped on another handyman job within that hour. work done well and quickly. Workers were professional and friendly. I would use again, I would just ask more about rates next time.

Things well well from start to finish

The owner of Let Mikey Do It and his two man crew were professional and worked diligently to complete my long list of household repairs. Cost was close to estimated and final payment was very fair and included all labor and materials. The Crew came on time and left after cleaning up any debris. I plan to use the service again for some spring household window/siding related work.

They were competitively priced and did quality work Very professional in their interactions. Kept our home clean while working in it. Very responsive to new requests that emerged from us as the project progressed. I would recommend them highly and use them again for our future needs.

Mike is very easy to work with and Wayne and Gianni were great as well. They were very respectful in regards to cleaning up and keeping the noise down (we work night shift and sleep during the day). Any issues that arose were handled immediately and they did a nice job. We would definitely hire them again.

Never called to reschedule or cancel the appointment

Mike was very responsive. Came to give an estimate very timely. Mike is very knowledgable. The team laid out the plan and followed it precisely.

Mike did a great job, checking the padding underneath the carpet to ensure it was still in good condition. He moved the pad and carpet from Bedroom #1 to slightly bigger Bedroom #2, cleaning off old glue in Bedroom #1 that had held the padding/carpeting in place, and washing the floor thoroughly in both bedrooms before placing the carpeting and rug in place. Mike and his partner moved the furniture gently, and placed it all back in place perfectly, taking into account the placement of the carpeting. I was very pleased with how careful, efficient, and quick Mike was, leaving both bedrooms in tiptop shape. In addition, he "threw in" changing some light bulbs and fire alarm batteries throughout my house, some of which were way beyond my reach. I was also happy with how respectful and professional Mike was with the entire project.

Our house was built with a sump pump but when we bought it, the builder took it with them as "it wasn't in the contract." 8 years later it's pouring rain, late on a Sunday afternoon and the crock is filling up. Called Let Mikey Do it, we needed a pump bad. They came over and installed a temporary pump and saved our basement, working until 11 PM that night. Back at 8 AM the next day and installed a new pump and flush piping. Quoted estimate was dead on for final bill. Our neighbor wasn't as lucky. 6" of standing water in their basement. When they saw Let Mikey Do It installing our pump, they came running. Let Mikey Do It installed the neighbor's pump immediately after ours. This is just one of the many jobs Let Mikey Do It has done on our home. Let Mikey Do It has been doing jobs around our home for over 10 years. We will continue to use them.

I contacted Mike based on internet search of Handymen in Madison, WI and made an appointment to meet at property at 10:00am Friday June 19, 2009 he showed up at around 2:00pm. Went through projects that I wanted him to complete. He gave an estimate of $500 including materials and work was to begin the following Tuesday. He called to delay start of work which I okayed. He showed up on the day that we had agreed to reschedule work and called me at work to ask if I had a list of the work to be completed. I assumed that when I took the time to go through the projects with him in person that he would have taken notes and be familiar with what he was supposed to do. This was the beginning of the problems I should have fired him at that point seeing as how he had not paid any attention when reviewing the job(s) originally. He came and installed dishwasher but left the job incomplete. He disassembled sink drain assembly to hook up new dishwasher and reassembled leaving all connections loose (not even finger tight). The renters turned on kitchen sink and flooded cabinet under sink. Plumbing and electrical was already run to location as there was an existing dishwasher yet he charged 4 hours for installation even still the job was left incomplete. Installed new flourescent fixture in laundry room which seems to be working okay but then fixed other electrical items in that room which weren't broken and I didn't request be fixed and this I believe has lead to problems with outlets in the living room which no longer work. Described at length with Mike when we went over the projects how I wanted to put a shutoff and drain on a supply line to an addition to enable the plumbing to be drained. Charged 2 1/2 hours and I did not see anything done although he claims he installed an additional drain which isn't what I asked for. The whole purpose was to be able to shut off the water service to the addition to avoid potential freezing during extended absences. Charged 1 hour of time to tell me that the eaves trough couldn't be rehung to properly drain instead suggested adding another downspout which would come out directly on a sidewalk leading to the front door. I think in reality it was tougher than he thought and didn't want to bother. Overall he only successfully completed 2 of the original 5 tasks he was assigned. The dishwasher install he charged $225 for and it was incomplete. His electrical work has lead to other problems that now need to be addressed. The original estimate was $500 including materials the bill was $789 and half the projects are still left undone and there are additional things which now need to be addressed. His rate was fair $50/hour but I could have completed the work he did in less time so in reality his hourly rate was about $100/hour. Most homeowners have no clue on how to make home repairs whereas I am fairly handy but needed to get some work done fast to facilitate renting the home, I know better.
