He was extremely responsive, friendly and affordable compared to others.

John stopped by to perform an evaluation of why our TV has been flickering when the power surges due to an appliance turning on or off. We tested the process in which it occurs, and since the lights did not flicker during the power change, he did not think it was a wiring issue, but an issue with the TV. He offered to and quot;rip apart the wallsand quot; to check, but did not think it was worthwhile. I appreciated that he was honest about the situation and did not attempt to sell me a service I did not need. He recommended I check with the TV manufacturer to ensure that is not an issue with the unit, and then suggested I check the switches and outlets to ensure the connections are intact, which I am able to do myself. He provided reasonable advice given the situation, and saved me from a large bill that may not resolve the issue.

Overall, the experience was excellent: top-notch! He responded quickly and was very punctual. He was also friendly and responsive when we asked him questions about other work we might need done in the future.

Simply put, John did a superb job and is going to be our lifelong electrician. We were thoroughly impressed with his services and no-nonsense approach. He did't put any nonsense and quot;tripand quot; or and quot;serviceand quot; charges, and simply quoted us a very competitive hourly rate + parts. I believe John quoted us at $40/hr but he is easily worth twice that. Very friendly guy, he gave us an estimate on a Thursday and did the actual work on a Sunday morning w/o any weekend surcharge. He fixed a couple of our loose odds and ends with lighting switches for free. He didn't mind side conversation while he was working, didn't sell me on anything, and offered great advice on my questions (ex. flood lights, creating a wiring closet, etc.) He cleaned up after himself and kept everything tidy. For all of my questions and request for estimates, John gave me options, pros and cons of each choice, and his honest opinion. Thank you Angieslist for helping me find this guy.

John is a very friendly and personable young man. His estimate was competitive with two others we had received. With my first impression, Angieslist reviews and wanting to assist a person with his small business, we went with John. On the day of work, he was punctual, demonstrated a tremendous work ethic and very patient with my questions and conversation. It took about a day and a half to do the work. I was very pleased. He even assisted in helping me identify and label all the circuits in the house without adding that to his bill. I was most impressed with his ability to troubleshoot some faulty outlets, locating some wires that had never been connected and solving the problem that had been caused by earlier electricians. Based on this experience, I would not hesitate to recommend John and will certainly contact him for future electrical service needs.

I contacted John for an estimate. He made two trips to my house, without charge, to insure the estimate was compatible and complete. On the agreed day, John arrived right on time, and went right to work. He clearly knows his craft and kept me 'in the loop' throughout. He completed all work within the promised time frame, and even removed an obsolete pipe as a courtesy. John is courteous, punctual, and professional. He performed all work, including installation and wiring, quickly and with care. He was tidy, and completed all work within the time frame promised. John is a nice guy AND a skilled worker.

Contractor responded promptly to the initial telephone voice message left for him; arrived on time for the appointment; and completed all work in a professional and timely manner. Will definitely call on him for any future electrical work needed!

He cheerfully returned my phone message in less than 24 hours, and offered to come out to do the work in less than two days. Minutes after the scheduled appointment he called to tell me he would be 20 minutes late. He removed his shoes and went right to work upon arrival. He was personable. He completed the work in just over 2 hours and the charge was a reasonable $80. I would call upon him for further electrical work.

John was very pleasant to speak to on the phone. He quickly visited our house and gave us an estimate on the cost of the project. I hadn't purchased a bathroom fan at the time so I told him I would call. I bought the fan but forgot to call back for a couple of weeks. John called me to see if I was still interested. I made an appointment and he promptly arrived at my house when he said he would be there. He was very friendly and professional. He charged us the price he estimated, no surprises. I love the new bathroom fan and lighting. Great work!

We could not have been more pleased with the experience. He was friendly, honest, punctual and did great work. I'd recommend his services to anyone.

He was very fast to respond to calls. Came out and gave us a very thorough quote. He broke the quote out in case we wanted to do some of it now and some of it later. He talked over the whole setup with us and made no assumptions. He was very professional and down right nice. He came and did the work on the planned day, gave us a fantastic price and we have been happy with the work. I highly recommend him!

My daughter called John when she lost power in her house. Here is her review: We lost power in half of our kitchen and two of the bedrooms in our house. We didn't have a go-to electrician, so we called several and left messages. John got back to us quickly and seemed to have a good idea of what the problem was after hearing my vague explanation on the phone. He offered to come that evening (a Friday at 7:30 PM) to investigate the problem. After arriving on time, he determined that the problem was most likely the fault of MGand E, and helped us look up their emergency number. MGand E said that they could send someone within the hour, and John offered to wait to make sure that the problem was, in fact, their problem. We didn't want to keep him, so I asked him when he might be available to come back if it was our problem. He told us that we should call him, and that he would come back that night. The problem ended up being MGand E's fault. John didn't have to fix anything for us, but he did correctly diagnose the electrical problem in our house, and did not charge a service fee for his visit. He was very knowledgable, professional, and seemed to genuinely care about helping us resolve the problem. We will definitely call John first the next time we need an electrician.

John was a pleasure to work with. He arrived right on time, and quickly and knowledgeably diagnosed and fixed some of the vague problems we referred him to. Even though his price estimate was already better than the estimates from the other providers we had contacted, John insisted on sticking to the quoted price after doing a little extra work. I would be glad to work with John again and would strongly recommend him to anyone looking for electrical work.

His service was excellent. He came on time and we talked about what was going to be done and the cost. He went and got the materials and came back and installed them.

John came when promised; he did an excellent job of predicting when he would be available and how long the job would take. He did the work quickly and efficiently, taking care not to damage plaster walls. He came in exactly at the bid price, which was the most competitive price I got from 3 electricians. He was friendly and professional and his work was exceptionally good. I'm almost looking forward to needing more electrical work.

John arrived right on time -- in fact, a couple of minutes early. We were replacing a microwave that had a broken door. John suggested ways we might save money using the old one, but after discussion we agreed to go ahead and install the new appliance that we had purchased. Everything went perfectly. John even took down an overhead lighting fixture for me so I could wash it! We were impressed with John's workmanship and professionalism -- and he's a nice guy, too. He even suggested taking our old microwave to Habitat for Humanity Restore in case they could use it. (They couldn't, but they did recycle it for us at a good price.) We will definitely call John Potter the next time we have some electrical work.

He is very, very good. The work was great. He seemed to be very efficient. Even though it took longer than he expected, he didn't change the price.

Excellent. Everything was done to my satisfaction, the cost was incredibly reasonable and he works quickly. I have used John one other time for a big job in the house and knew immediately after he finished that I had a found an electrician I could trust and and rely on. YEA! Very professional and very personable, with extremely reasonable pricing.

Placed call on a sunday afternoon, called back to me a few hours later. set up appt. for Tue.s morning at 10 am. He never showed up or called, I waited until 2 pm and left several messages, but never heard back. Had to get another company to come out since the part that was burnt controls the pump to get water out of the well, we had no water since friday. Not sure what happened to him.

He came out on three separate occasions. He worked around my schedule, which is great because I'm a full-time student. He did what work he could while I was here. He even came out on a Saturday to do something. It was great. He cleaned up after himself, which I loved. He was really good with my dogs. It worked out really great. He is competitively priced. His work has been excellent. My husband was even impressed that he quoted a price for the work, and then at the end of the job, we ended up paying him less. I recommended him to one of my professors, and he was very pleased, as well.

John was great! He came over to scope out the job, came back with some options for which fans to buy (didn't charge us for the visit), supported our purchasing them online (saved a total of $150, which paid for his installation), and he installed them in 3 hours instead of the 4 hours he estimated. And he charged us only for the three hours and the ducting (which he purchased locally). We can actually take a long shower w/o fogging the mirrors and blistering the paint! This was the second job John has done for us. A month earlier, he solved a longstanding issue of tripped circuit-breakers in the kitchen, when we used more than one kitchen appliance. It was an involved process, but he methodically traced the problem, got the answer, and rewired the circuits to provide more-than-enough voltage (or whatever). Good-by, tripped circuit-breakers! At $579 (including materials), it was probably half of what larger companies would have charged. (And one of them hadn't been able to solve it, in the past.) John's The Man!

I had two light fixtures that were not working - had gone out intermittently, then stopped; also a lightbulb stuck in a ceiling fixture and a room switch that had a loose connection. John came a little earlier than the appointment (10 minutes), tested the switches and boxes for the two fixtures and then tested the actual fixtures and determined that they were both broken; cleaned out the broken bulb and put that fixture back together and replaced the switch and only charged me $40 for an hour's work although it was actually 1.5 hours. We live out in the country and rarely get by with less than $150 for any service visit. John was very pleasant and cleaned up after himself. I called him because of other reviews on the List and would recommend him.

Found Mr. Potter on Angies List and I have not one bad thing to say about John or his service. OUTSTANDING

I had a few small electrical jobs around the house. I left John a message over the weekend; he called back Monday morning and said he would check back if he had some time that afternoon; if not he would come Tuesday morning. He called back and came Monday. He was very professional and efficient, doing all the small jobs in about an hour. His rate is so reasonable, and Christmas is coming, so I gave him a tip.
