Our house was built in 1961. Our old wooden garage entrance door was rotting at the bottom, half the door had windows, and the lock barely worked. Recently, our neighborhood has had several break-ins and we were looking for something more secure since our garage is attached to our house. John Kokette and we discussed our need for a more secure door but one which would still let in some light in our very dark garage. He recommended a metal door with a half-moon window placed high at the top of the door. AND, it was on sale with a $20 rebate, which he passed on to us. He gave us a very reasonable quote. The original door was an odd size. John talked with us as he made the needed changes, including us in all of the decisions including the need to remove the pre-attached bottom threshold and customizing it to fit. He even made sure that there were no longer tiny spaces around the doorway area which had been letting in mice and chipmunks. We also asked him to replace some rotting plywood above our front entry door in preparation for our painting the house. He did an excellent job getting the old plywood out, dealing with the very-old scratchy insulation from the ?60s which tended to fall down all over him as he worked. He checked to make sure that no other water damage had been done in the area before putting up the new plywood. He very thoroughly cleaned up the fallen insulation, making sure there was nothing remaining. John always arrived when he said he would. He cleaned up thoroughly each day before he left. John came with the highest neighborhood references where he's done lots of work. He can do just about anything, from fixing a leaky sink to remodeling a basement or building an addition, all of which he's done for our neighbors. He meets in person to discuss projects and provides old fashioned QUALITY work. Besides all of the above, he?s a really nice guy.
