HILLESTAD HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS

We have used Hillestad for 30 years at our home that had a steam furnace. We've always been impressed with their knowledge. This time we used them for a new forced air furnace and AC for our condo.. We spent lots of time discussing alternatives to replacing the electric hot water heater present in the condo. They do a very good job.

The man who came to our house was polite, explained everything to us and even told us how to care for it if we ever had this problem again. He was prompt, even called before he came. I will use this service again

We were very happy with their service. They were prompt, they did the work and I had no problems with them. The people were coffer-ed, and they were happy to be doing the job.

Our furnace blower failed the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I called Hillestad after looking at a list of contractors on Angie's List. I talked to Jeff. Jeff patiently spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me trying to diagnose the problem. We determined that the furnace was about 20 years old and that it made sense to wait until Monday to get estimates for repair and/or replacement. On Monday we got a repair estimate that was high enough that we thought it made sense to replace the furnace. We got estimates for new furnaces from Hillestad and one other contractor. Hillestad's estimate was about $600 lower for a similar furnace. They were able to find time in their schedule to do the installation on Tuesday afternoon. Everything went smoothly, and our new furnace is running well. We are very happy with the service we have received from Hillestad Heating.

We had a great experience with Hillestad! Jeff was our contact person and he was great! He talked us through a variety of options.... keeping steam, converting to hot water or replacing with a forced air system (which would have involved duct work)... Ultimately, Jeff made us very comfortable with the idea of converting to a hot water boiler. We wanted to stick with the comfortable heat, but we were nervous about the conversion. Hillestad has more experience than any other company we talked with when it comes to hot water conversion (and we met with at least 4 highly rated companies). It's been about 1 month since the conversion and so far, it's fantastic... no problems. We are looking forward to the higher efficiency of this boiler and to the comfortable heat. Jeff and his team went above and beyond in responsiveness and installation. Huge SHOUT OUT to Hillestad! In a home that needs a lot of work, we are grateful that this all went smoothly.....We highly, highly recommend them!

To-date I have always been pleased with Hillestad since I purchased my furnace from them. The $98 included a coupon from Angie's list.

I called Hillestad at 1am on a Saturday evening - during a rash of 100 degree + days, followed by 90+ days, our air conditioning failed. Rachel answered and it was great to hear a voice - the only place that I heard a voice that wasn't an answering service, and she said if I wanted someone to come out that evening, she had to page Jeff. Jeff called back promptly. I explained my A/C had stopped working, and I had hoped to wait until the week to call (with the house cooling at night). I had already checked fuses, electrical components, etc... However, despite the cool-off outside, the house continued to heat and was 88 degrees and climbing. The critical component that my wife was 4 months pregnant and the heat was a danger, so I needed emergency service. He said he felt bad, but there was nothing that could be done (before he even looked at it). He said he would have to page his guy in Deforest and get him out, he understood it was an emergency and they offered that service, but this was too much truble for them.Obviously, I do not recommend - they may be good for service in regular hours, but if you have a dangerous situation after hours, find someone else - otherwise you may end up in a hotel for a weekend until you can find another company. In our case, Harker saved the day, going through options on the phone, trying to ID the issue to identify if I could fix it, and once we determined I could not, ensuring if they came out they would have necessary parts on their truck. Within an hour Randy from Harker was onsite, and an hour after that, multiple issues were fixed and we had cool air again. Hillestad certainly does not do after hours emergency work - at least, not unless it's convenient for them and they're in the mood - and even then, I'm guessing it's 50:50. Hopefully their listing will be fixed to indicate they do not provide this service.

Hillestad responded quickly and sent someone over to check out a broken furnace in my rental property. They were unwilling to tell me what the problem was over email. I asked three times for them to please do so because I was travelling and unable to talk on the phone, but the office person I was working with continued to refuse, saying the situation was and quot;complicatedand quot; and that the technician and quot;does not communicate well over email.and quot; Eventually she did give me a rough quote of $20,000 to $25,000, which turned out to be nearly ten times what it actually cost.

He answered all of my questions. His name was Phil. He was great. He was very nice and right on time.

The service was very good. If we do replace the furnace in the future we will hire them again.

They do different work for me. I call them and they come out. I like them. My overall experience with them has been excellent. They get all A's.

We needed to replace our furnace and AC and saw Hillestad's good ratings on Angie's List. We got very prompt response getting an estimate and chose them because they had a better warranty than anyone else and we were familiar with the brand they sell (Carrier/Bryant). They said they could clear our AC lines of old coolant and fill them with the new federally-required kind, instead of tearing out and replacing all the old lines. On installation day, the crew arrived on time, spread drop cloths anywhere they were going to step, were careful not to let our cat out, cleaned up after themselves, etc. They brought the current rebate form with them and had all their information filled in. We had taken the door to the furnace room off and hadn't mentioned that the door opened into the room and when we put the door back that evening we found that the new piping intruded about an inch and we couldn't close the door. I called first thing the next morning, and someone came and hiked up the pipe that day. Everyone was really nice to work with, and not only were patient with my questions, they encouraged them.

I called late yesterday afternoon and a service tech (Dave) was ready to check my furnace this morning! He was professional and certainly knew what he was doing. I appreciated his kindness and his explanations as to why my furnace was noisy. He fixed the problem and shared with me that I will need a new furnace in the not too far future. I was glad that he could fix my furnace at a very reasonable price so I can start saving for my new one. I also received a call from Jeff, an owner of the company, to provide direction about purchasing a furnace when I am ready. He was personable and informative and I plan to buy my furnace from Hillestad and have them install it too. Both Dave and Jeff shared a host of information on a variety of options available to me to meet my heating needs. They were everything I hoped they would be when I decided to call for their help.

I didn't find them first on Angie's List, but I did check them out on Angie's List. I got 3 bids from 3 different companies, and I liked them. I liked the way the guy worked with me. I will use them again when I need to do my air conditioner and for the maintenance of my furnace. I liked their professionalism when they installed the furnace and also when the guy came and talked to me about that. It was helpful.

They did a great job, arriving promptly in spite of a snowstorm. Removed the old furnace and had the new gas furnace heating the house in the same day. The work site was left very clean. Very friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend to others and definitely buy from them again.

They did an excellent job. They came out promptly, were very professional, and fixed everything right away. They thoroughly explained everything to me, and even gave me important information on my units that I was not already aware of.

They were really professional. They were quick to get the job done. We had an issue with the furnace and they came and fixed that immediately. I would use them again in the future.

The installation went well. The estimate was done efficiently. I had done my own calculations about the air flow necessary and his calculations agreed. We looked at the old furnace and saw that it was too large and inefficient. When I had it installed, the crew showed up on time and worked well. They did all the tin knocking to adapt the new furnace in. They routed the PVC tubes conveniently. And the furnace is working well. When I looked at it later, I noticed two black leads coming out of the water pump and called them to ask about it. The leads allow the furnace to be shut off when the pump isn't working. They came out and installed the shutoff and reviewed the installation. I was pleased with the results.

Bid process was interesting - first one to suggest zone heating after 4 other bids. Bid was not the lowest but was the most reasonable after comparing with top 3 candidates. Easy to schedule installation. Install itself went smoothly, wasn't as noisy as I had expected. Supervisor stopped to see how install was going since venting wasn't straightforward. Followed-up after as well. New furnace is very quiet, seems much more efficient - will see after I see gas bill. Installers noticed a minor gas leak on my water heater and fixed it for me. Very happy.

I've been using them for almost 14 years and they are always very respectful and really nice. They do a really good job. They replaced my furnace once on Christmas Eve day because it went out. They are really good to work with. They are going to come and replace my furnace in the next couple of months.

I have used them before and I like them. I will use them again in the future.
