I was very pleased with the competence of the plumber. He took the time to explain the controls to me, the type of salt I should use, and how much salt for my new water softener. He was an hour late, however he finished the job in less time than I was quoted.

+ -1 moreI called early on Friday morning and they couldn't get to me until Monday if that was OK. About noon on Friday they called and said they could squeeze us in on Friday. The plumber came. Cleared the clogged sink and replaced the cartridge in the faucet. He was done in less than an hour and cleaned up after himself. Great experience.
Description of Work: Unclogged a bathroom sink and repaired a leaky faucet in the bathroom.

+ -1 morethe old softener was running constantly *went through 100lbs of salt in a day* and we were unable to turn the softener off. Owner of FP came an hour after returning my call; he turned the malfunctioning softener off and scheduled to install a new softener system the following day. His son did the installation with his father (owner of business) checking in periodically to offer assistance.) Very fine people who did a complete job, leaving the work area clean and tidy upon completion of work. Owner checked back with me a few weeks after installation to ensure all was working well.

+ -1 moreI called to get then out for any of three different plumbing jobs I need done. They said they couldn't help me with any if them - not because they were busy, but because they "didn't di that." Two of the jobs,installing a new gas line and the removal of an attic expansion tank, are also HVAC related, so I know not all plumbers do them - not a problem. The third job, however, - roughing in plumbing for a bathroom in an unfinished attic space, what kind of plumber "doesn't do" that? They told me they only work with builders on new construction. The lady was nice on the phone, but honestly, what a waste of my time. I guess they only bother to work with actual homeowners if there's some emergency involved so they can charge an emergency price or something. There are so many other, more helpful plumbers who actually WANT my business, so I have no intention of ever wasting my time with these folks again.

We did have to wait on a part that needed to be delivered while they were at our home fixing the water heater, but we were not charged during for the added delivery time. Friendly and effective!

+ -1 moreTop notch job. He was very detail orientated installing the new dishwasher, making sure everything was level, even took time to read the manual to make sure he wasn't missing anything. First time using Fitchburg plumbing, won't be the last time.
Description of Work: Garry from Fitchburg Plumbing came out to remove an old dishwasher and install a new one. In addition he changed out the water valves for the washing machine.

Called another company and they called back, showed up, repaired the problems and left - still no call back from Fitchburg Plumbing.

+ -1 moreHe was very professional and explained to me how the original plumbing--NOT done by Fitchburg Plumbing--hadn't been correctly installed, leading to a problem with the kitchen sink. As a result of the original installation, it took him longer to get the new kitchen faucet correctly installed. He did a great job with that and with the new showerheads. I'd used another plumbing company in the past and found their prices were rather ridiculously high. Fitchburg has always responded quickly and their pricing is fair.

+ -1 moreFitchburg Plumbing seemed very knowledgeable about the available water softeners and helped us to make our decision to use Capital. They gave us a good price, slightly less than Capital would have charged to install the same unit. They showed up on time, when promised, installed the new unit, removed the old unit and provided us with some helpful ongoing maintenance suggestions. They seemed to do the job very efficiently and left the area clean. All in all, a very satisfactory experience.
Description of Work: We had a 22 year old Hellenbrand water softener that seemed to have a timer motor problem. Hellenbrand offered to send out a technician so see if the unit could be repaired, but advised that it was probably time to replace the water softener with a new model. Capital Water Softener indicated that they did not repair Hellenbrand softeners, but also advised that it was time to replace the old softener with a new unit. Based on very helpful discussions with a Hellenbrand representative, a Capital representative, a representative of Fitchburg Plumbing (all of whom had very good reports from Angie's List members) and our own online research, we decided that the Capital softener seemed comparable to, if not identical to, the Hellenbrand unit, but was almost $200 less expensive. We therefore decided to install a new Capital softener, but we chose to have it installed by Fitchburg Plumbin because their overall cost was slightly less than the charge proposed by Capital. The Capital representative was very supportive of our using Fitchburg, indicating that they were knowledgeable about installing Capital softeners and that Capital was happy if customers bought Capital softeners regardless of who installed them, so long as it was a competent water softener installer.

+ 0 moreI was very pleased with the experience! I think a guy named Randy came out who was very professional, nice, and very knowledgeable. They installed it in less than an hour and a half and billed me a week later. This was the part I was most pleased with because I was looking for a place that accepted American Express and on the bill I had 30 days to pay them without having to pay a penalty. This is great because I am going to wait to that 30th day, pay it, and then pay AMEX a month later without having to pay any finance charges. I get my credit card points and do not have to have the bill hit my checking account for nearly 3 months! Another thing I found very interesting was that he said that Capital Water Softener are not licensed plumbers but instead certified appliance installers (or something to that effect). He said that they can do a "hack job" if you get the wrong guy so in essence I had a licensed plumber install a Capital Water Softener for $50 less than Capital would have charged. I'll be using these guys for all of my plumbing needs from now on.
Description of Work: I had a very old water softener that I knew had to be replaced. I priced out deals from many plumbers and Fitchburg plumbing was the lowest at $700 for installing a Capital Water Softener. I called Capital Water Softener and received a quote of $750 for the same water softener which I thought was interesting. Hellenbrand was over a thousand for theirs which was ridiculous with most plumbers charging in the $750-800 range. I think Fitchburg plumbing was the only one at $700. They came out replaced my water softener and took away my old one for no additional charge.
