The project went great. We contact Cruz's Roofing for an estimate on hail damage. Nick Cruz came over promptly and gave us an estimate and left me samples of shingles selections. Their price was excellent so I selected them out of the three quotes we received. We were in a pinch because we are selling our home and agreed as part of an accepted offer to replace the roof. We had a tight deadline to get this done because of a short closing date. Cruz's got us in quickly as they knew we were under this deadline. They were very professional and great to deal with. Provided us with their certificate of liability insurance upon our request, showed up as promised on time and did an excellent job. Rick Cruz stopped by to inspect the work during the job and came back after completion to make sure the work was up to his standards. Their crew was professional and courteous. Clean up was great and you would have never known they were here with the exception of a nice looking new roof. Rick and Nick were both professional, really nice guys who seem to care about the quality of their work and making their customer happy. Great experience over all.

They never followed to request documentation from insurance company, never returned phone calls after repeated attempts.

They were super excellent. I like how quickly they did the job once they started; it was late in the season but they got it done. The discovered that some of the sheeting was not in good shape so they just took it all off. With our attic entirely exposed, they found that our venting was installed improperly and there was water in the insulation so they reinstalled things properly. They probably saved us a lot of money down the line. They paid a lot of attention to detail and they used very good materials that will last a long time without costing an arm and a leg. It seems like they have a good reputation amongst other roofers in the community and they have been here for a pretty long time.

We really liked that Cruz recycled all the old roofing and aluminum siding materials. And each day the job site was left cleaned up. Rick Cruz was always available by email or cell phone to trouble shoot any concerns or problems so that the project went along very smoothly and was finished on time (3 weeks) as promised. He was always very professional and pleasant to work with. The team of workers who performed the work each day were efficient, did quality construction work, were pleasant and easy to work with. We did have to submit and pay for the city work permit. We trust that if any problems or concerns arise in the future that Cruz Roofing will stand behind their work. They are a family run company working in the Madison area for over 40 years.

The Cruz brothers asked us what our goals were - just to have it continue standing - showed us where we would need some continuing repairs, where to look for rot, etc., and then gave us fair estimate for replacing the back wall and roofing. They came, did it very quickly with a minimum of fuss - even threw in some old roofing tiles they had from a previous job. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs roof repair or rough carpentry of any kind. We were in an emergency situation with half of our garage uncovered and winter coming on. They were prompt, thorough, and professional.

Due to a severe hail storm in September there were many homes in my neighborhood with damaged roofs. I called a friend of mine who's been in the construction business for over 30 years and he recommended Cruz Roofing. I received a prompt call back and inspection and quote and had a new roof within two weeks, one of the first ones in my neighborhood to get a new roof. I was very pleased with the job, and liked the idea that this is a local family owned business that's been around for many years. The sons now operate the business as well as doing installation with crew, but their dad still came around to deliver shingles and "supervise"! It was a good experience with quality workmanship and I am very happy with the new roof. I would definitely recommend Cruz Roofing to a friend or neighbor.

They were very down to earth, legitimate, open to questions. They seemed to know everything. I just felt very honest.

They are hard to connect with, but do a great job

The gutters on the garage are fine, but the gutter repairs on the house were not completed well. The gutter still overflows and doesn't drain. We called Cruz back, and it took them a few weeks to respond. They sent someone back to do more work on the gutter, and while it might be marginally better, it is by no means fixed completely. We decided that we didn't want to wrangle with them again, and we just left the gutter as is. If I had seen the reviews in the roofing category instead of just the reviews in the gutter category, I would not have hired Cruz. I would not hire them if I could make the choice over again.

The roofing replacement went without any problems. they removed the old shingles (two layers) down to the sheathing. The replacement of the roofing material went well and the venting was completed correctly. Cruz Roofing removed the chimeny down to the basement floor, but did not remove the very last course of bricks that were mostly barried by the floor. The inside wall was repaired to give more room to the room that used to have the chimeny running through it. The new wall and ceiling were primed. The subfloor was patched, but the bracing under the subfloor was very basic, but not up to code. I discovered only after the roof was on that the building permit was not gotten as stated in the estimate. As for the basement remodel it took longer than the planned timeline and a number of small details were either missed or completed incorrectly. The Shower stall was not installed correctly or and not sealed. The drain that came with the shower stall was not installed, but replaced. The tile was not sealed and the base of the toilet was caulked when it should not have been. There was a cost over run on the plumbing and the receipts were not proveded when requested. It was hard to get a hold of the subcontractor to get the project completed. I have given up in getting the last details completed and have finished them myself. The Roofing was an A- the bathroom remodel and chimney removal were about a C-/D+

We had them out for an estimate on window replacement, and the time he spent with us was pleasant and interesting. He went up on the roof to check for hail damage with my husband and found some dings on our siding. However, he never sent the estimate for the window replacement to us, even after a reminder email from me a few weeks later. We ended up using Brunsell Lumber. I can only imagine he must have had enough business from repairing roofs and siding from hail damage and forgot about us.

I have nothing but positive things to say about them. They did a great job in a timely manner. They did as good of a job as I could've imagined. It was a very positive experience.

I liked the quality of work and their punctuality was good. They were a little hard to schedule. I think after I accepted their quote, it took quite a bit of time before they were able to come out and do the work. That was just a little inconvenient, but they eventually came out and did it and it was fine. Their price was good too. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

The work was delayed in part because Cruz didn't promptly return our calls.

First of all, they brought in the window sales person, so we were able to make an informed decision about the exact windows we wanted. Then, they came in, did the work, and was done on the second day. We were confident about their work as we had them do our roof last summer.

(I am this member's neighbor who had the work done.) These guys are excellent and the best I have ever had do a roof. 4 guys worked for about 5 hours and got the work done professionally and with no problems, damage to the vegetation or anything. Rick showed up right away when I asked for an estimate, and then was very patient with several rain delays. He also opened the roof in one place for an insulator to come and inspect the insulation. Rick explained everything about what they were doing, the quality of materials, and how to take care of the roof. I strongly recommend this company and will use them again.

It went very well. Rick, the owner, is very pleasant to work with and explained everything step by step. They were here when they said they would be here and cleaned up after themselves.

Met with all of the brothers prior to the job being done, actually had several neighbors involved as we all had to get new roofs due to hail storm. Consolidated work and Cruz got 4 jobs done in two days! Highly recommended

The work, once started, went fine. However, the company had earlier required 50% down and then did not show up when promised, and did not return a single phone call in response to many, many messages, this over a two month period. I had thought they must have absconded with the money. When they finally showed up, no excuses were offered, just a comment that some other customer had been (more) insistent. The very same day the roof replacement was completed, I got a phone call from the company offering to come by my house to pick up a check for the balance, even though the agreement had been to pay by mail. What service! I declined, and sent the check that day. I have an excellent credit rating, live in an excellent neighborhood, and don't appreciate being dunned two or three hours after the crew leaves. This winter (2009-10) the roof leaked, because of ice damming. I called the company. Mike Cruz came out, removed a 3 foot section of the dam, and promised to send a crew the next day to do the rest. I was surprised, happy and grateful, until it turned out that no crew would ever show up. The Cruzes are very personable. Rick, who supervised the original work, was very pleasant. Mike, who seems to run the office and the billing (as well as doing checkups as just described), may be the problem, though he was also pleasant in person. But, absent any returned phone calls, it is hard to tell. I say the company as a whole is the problem. If you want average quality work (and a roof that may soon leak), for good prices, and don't mind being ignored, dunned, and deceived, I recommend them. Make sure to get Rick Cruz's personal cell phone number at the beginning of your relationship if you want to contact them again, I suggest.

I have been very satisfied with them pricewise and response compared to other roofing companies. The price randoms with what my profession does. I am into property management so I go from one end of the spectrum to the other. I have got multiple owners and they are always requesting multiple things. Some say replace it and some say repair it and Cruz is always able to accommodate them. They are good enough guys. They have stayed above a lot of people in that industry in that price bracket. They accommodate my needs very much so.

My wife and I recently purchased a home in Madison. Following the home inspection, I wanted to get a closer look at the roof due to poor ventilation and a lack of attic insulation. I called Cruz's roofing to setup an appointment but they were unable to schedule anything prior to our contract date. Once we closed on the house I figured I would see if Cruz's roofing could quote the needed repairs and scheduled an appointment on 4-Dec. The 4th of December came and went, no representative from Cruz's ever showed up nor did anyone call. I followed up with a phone call that still has yet to be returned. Since then, we've received a lot of snow and I'm having ice dam issues. Since Cruz's has good reviews, I figured I would give them one more try to see if they were interested in helping me with my roofing issues. I called and left a message on the 22nd of December and it is now 6p on the 23rd with no response. On the 22nd I also contacted two other roofing companies to setup appointments. One has already cleared my roof of the ice and snow to solve my short term issues and the other is visiting on Monday to quote my attic ventilation projects.

The project was delayed while I got permission from the city to have a tree trimmer remove some branches from an oak tree that were scraping the old roof. Once the signal to go was given, the reponse was quick, though extensive rain delays caused it to stretch longer than anticipated. Huge piles of old materials were placed temporarily where negotiated and quickly carted away. A large crew moved quickly and were very cheerful and polite in response to requests we made concerning our large dog and to provide access to all doors of the house during the teardown. Cleanup was efficient and flawless. The final quality of the roof is excellent and is quickly visible to my neighbors. We are extremely happy with it. I should add that the quoted price was several thousand below the prices quoted in several competing bids.

I think we mostly dealt with Rick's brother Nick. The first quote we thought included the garage, but the written quote did not include the garage - why would we not include the garage in nthe roofing porject? We went along with it because I thought they had underbid the job in the first place. The time for when we were told that the project would start came and went and for several weeks my phone calls were not returned until I got ahold of Nick's brother Rick. Then we got a firm start date, and the team showed up when they were supposed to. It was late in the season and bitter cold and snow was starting to come down, but they persevered and finished the job. Clean up had to be deferred until Spring. In the Spring, we again had unreturned phone calls and were starting to get worried because it was time to put down mulch, but then they came out again and did a good clean up except for some left over nails on the roof. Overall, the quality of the work was good and the value was good, most of our concern was about communication issues.

It went very well, workmen on time,professional, careful and courteous. Work completed in two days including complete cleanup. No leaks!

I called Cruz about coming out to give me an estimate. During the first conversation I mentioned that he would have to coordinate with a mold remediation company throughout the project. He said that he would have to speak with his brother, who had past experiences with working with mold remediation companies, and get back to me. I never heard back from them about that call, so I called again and spoke with the same brother. He said once again that he would call me back and he never did. I gave them one more chance and called them a third time where I spoke with the same brother and he still never called me back. I made three attempts to call and get estimates from them to which they never responded. I would not contact them in the future.
