It went really well. I had talked to many different companies and Champion, Window World and Frey Construction were the only ones that didn't use pressure techniques to bully me into buying. Although WindowWorld was cheaper they had the door with the lowest threshold. The guys who installed it were nice and prompt and left everything neat and clean. So far no complaints but we'll see when winter comes. If everything goes well I may do my windows next year because they had a light weight easy to remove window.

The sales rep responded the same day I called. He gave me the cost and took all the measurements. A second rep came the next day to verify the measurements and in less than a week the door was replaced. It has been a few years since the work was done and I don't remember the exact cost, but I do remember the outstanding service I received.
Description of Work: They replaced a patio door that was damaged from a rock picked up from a mower. The door was original from when the house was built and was in bad shape. So, I decided to replace it.

They were very professional, through and clean. They did a good job from the outside and nothing is falling apart. The warranty was good. They were not cheap but I wasn't looking for cheap, I was looking for efficient. They had a lifetime warranty that no matter how things get destroyed, they will replace it at no charge. I was very pleased. I had somebody who gave me the same bid like them but I just didn't think the quality was going to be there and their reputation didn't compare to that of Champion. They were cordial, did the inspection ,went in and listened to me. I could negotiate with them to a certain extent. They came, did the work and were efficient. They did it when they said they would. If anything came up, they would let you know. They kept me informed and were being very competitive.

They did the work in the timeframe they specified, did a great clean up job, and took away the old windows. Couldn't have gone better. We needed them to come back for one small issue. One of the basement windows included a flange for venting the dryer. We needed their help making the vent/pipe connection fit, which the did without question. Again, they came, they fixed and left the place cleaned up.

They did a good job. The guy who did the installation, Dave, answered all my questions. He actually left me a few tools in my bushes so I had a couple of free tools out of the deal. They replaced the windows and took the old windows away and cleaned up after themselves. He did it all in one day; I think he arrived at 10:00 in the morning and I think he was done by 5:00 in the afternoon. The windows were expensive. They were good at answering questions and we did have one minor issue with one of the windows; the caulking wasn't quite done right and they were back the next day to fix it. He was on time and he was a good guy.

The price that they gave us was really high. They guy showed up early even if we talked about the time very specifically and he stayed too long. He said it was going be like a half an hour and he was here for like an hour and a half. It was kind of a very hard cell kind of situation and our kids were going crazy. It's felt like not a good experience at all and then we got several follow-up phone calls even if we told them that we didn't pursue on using their service.

He was way, way off. The quote was about $6,000 or $7,000. I liked him but I just couldn’t afford him. I know the man and his name is Chase. All the windows were nice. It would have been wonderful but I just couldn’t afford him. He was too expensive but what he has is a good product. I would consider getting a quote from him in the future.

Based solely on the positive reviews on Angie's list, we went with Champion Windows. The cost was fairly high, $1400, but they assure us it's a once in a lifetime door and will never need to be replaced. The salesperson is Tom and he came out both time punctually. It takes six weeks for the door to be ordered and installed, so I will update at that time. My only concern is when we saw the price, over $1400, I asked several times, "That's everything, there are no additional costs?" And I was assured that was the case. But when I went to sign the contract the next day, Tom informed me there was an additional $70 charge for the removal of the old door in case there might be lead paint. That obviously brought up the cost. Otherwise, there's not much to report until our new door is in. I'm hoping for a high quality door and excellent installation experience.

We started our search for good/affordable replacement windows in late summer of 2012. We had 6 companies come and give us estimates from July through Sept. We had pretty much decided on another company before Champion came to our house, and actually thought of cancelling the Champion appointment. Instead, we decided to listen to what they had to say and, in the end, ended up going with Champion. Their prices were competitive with other vinyl replacement window companies, but their windows had a couple features we liked better than some of their competitors; namely the release latches that allow you to flip the window down (so you can clean the outside of the window) and the Low E glass. Some of the other companies we looked at had windows that you just pulled down/open to clean and that was hard to do for my wife. So, she liked the ability to just click latches over and flip the window down to clean. After going back and forth with the Champion Windows manager several times over price, we were able to come to an agreement on a price, and signed the contract. Our windows needed to be special ordered, so it took about 5 weeks to get our windows. Our windows arrived inside the estimated time of arrival. Once the windows arrived, they called us and we set up a day/time for installation. The installation was estimated to take 1 day. The day of installation, the installer showed up 15-20 minutes early. He came to the door, introduced himself, and asked to come in to look at the windows that needed to be removed, and asked to verify which windows where to be installed where. The install professional was...well, professional, pleasant, and had almost 20 years of window installation experience; so he knew what he was doing.. I thought he did a very nice job of installing the windows, chalking/insulating, and cleaned up after himself. He arrived @ 7:45 am and was done around 4:00 PM that afternoon. The install did only take one day as originally estimated. Shortly after the windows were installed, I could feel cold air coming in around the frame of one of the windows. I called Champion, told them of my concern, and they scheduled a rep to come out take a look. The rep arrived on time and looked at the windows I had concerns about. Ended up he was leaving on vacation and couldn't set up an appt. right away, but said he would get back to me as soon as he got back. Once the Champion rep returned from vacation, about a week later, he called and we set up an appt. to have the windows looked at. On the day of the appt the rep and the installer arrived about 10 minutes early, we talked about my concerns, and I asked to have all the windows outer raps removed, so all the windows could be checked, and re-insulated where needed. They both agreed that would be fine and did not give me a hard time about removing the outer raps on all the windows and inspecting them. The window I had concerns about did have an issue. The insulating foam used shrunk more than expected and had about a 2" gap in it, that was allowing cold air to get in the house. They re-insulated the window, re-caulked where necessary, and checked the rest of the windows as I had requested. Overall my experience with Champion Windows has been positive and would use them again. With that said...I still don't care for the "song and dance" they give you when it comes time to give you an estimate. They give you a number, say that it is their "rock bottom" price, and that is the best they can do. Then, a few days later, they will "find" savings to give to you, and will give you another number. Then, a few days later, the same thing. In Champion's defense, ALL the window companies we had give us estimates did the EXACT same thing...all 6 of them. They came to our house for an estimate, gave us an estimate, and then a few days later called us back because they "found" some additional savings for us. So, it must be a window industry norm. Only thing is...you never know if you are getting the absolute best price or if you could have gotten your windows/doors for a few dollars less. My advice is NEVER take the first estimate they give you. Give them a few days and they will call you back with a lower price. Also, it amazed us, between the 6 companies we had come into our house for estimates, what a range of estimates we got: From $5000 to almost $13,000. So, moral of the story....make sure you get several estimates before going with any window/door company.

Don't take the first estimate from the salesman. He can always find "cost reductions" (ie, you got another estimate from another company, you pay in full, etc). The windows seem well made and the installers are great (punctual, neat, clean up after). My only complaint is that the windows themselves have too little glass and too much trim. The patio door has almost 8" of trim! The windows which had 4" of old trim, now have almost 6". I'd rather have more light in my house, and less vinyl.

We were very satisfied with Champion's service. The representative who came to give us the estimate was very nice and helpful. Everyone I talk to on the phone is very nice as well. I think they are a little pricey, but worth it. They hire contractors to do the installation and my husband said the installer was very nice and did a good job. However, when our sales rep was at our home I asked if the installer may be able to haul away some old interior doors as a courtesy. He said that shouldn't be a problem, as long as there is room in the trailer for them. The installer did say he could do that but asked my husband for $20 to do so. My husband paid him, but when I asked Champion about it, they said that was not ok. So Champion did reimburse us the $20 for that. We had to have someone come out a couple times to fix a couple small issues with the windows and door but overall we had a great experience with the company and would recommend them.

we decided to add a sunroom to our house. We obtained 3 price quotes, champion came in 2nd but the low bidder was not communicative and Champion matched their price. We had some lot line issues that required minor changes but the crew worked with us to make sure things were completed in a timely manner. The work crew was friendly and professional and went out of their way to clean up and help us fix a few other minor problems that cropped up ( nothing their fault, issues that popped up unrelated to the sunroom). They completed the work in a timely fashion and to our satisfaction.

We had a screened-in porch, and we had them basically take that out and put the glass windows in. The guys came, took everything away, and they cleaned up after themselves. I did not have a problem with that, but what I had problem with was afterwards; we had water leaking into the room along the floor, and I just kept calling and calling, and they were very responsive in coming out, but it took five times before they finally were able to get it fixed, so I was very disappointed as far as that aspect of their work. I was very happy with the room and everything else, but it was just a followup and how many times I had to call, and I had to keep waiting for it to rain to see if it was going to leak in again. I still think there are some leaks, but we are just going to fix them ourselves. I would use them again in the future if needed.

It took about six weeks for the doors to arrive. The doors were quickly and cleanly installed by the installation crew. They cleaned up after themselves and were very considerate while doing the installation. The new doors look great. We are very happy with the service and the product. My only quibble is the finish of the door. It's very well done, it just lacks the look of a wood door.
Description of Work: We asked for a quote on new windows, entry door and storm door. We decided to hold on the new windows but went forward with the doors. Chas (salesman) was very responsive and professional. He presented all the options in clear detail, made the pricing very clear and clearly set expectations for delivery of the door. He gets an 'A' for his service and professionalism.

One thing that concerned me was the warranty they have. I expect to sell my house in the next 3-5 years and although it's a lifetime warranty for me as long as I stay in the house, the warranty only lasts for 1 year for the new owner - which doesn't work well for my situation.
Description of Work: I got an estimate to replace all the windows in my home and on my screened porch. The estimate was detailed and the salesman made sure I knew the options for each type of window I was interested in (some sliders, some double hung) and put together a detailed estimate. The price was very good and the product looks good.
