The actual roofing itself went great. A team of guys came in with their equipment and completed the entire job in one day. They cleaned up after themselves and by the end of the day it was like they were never here.

Description of Work: They were very prompt in getting back to us but we had to chase them down for an estimate. Unfortunately, you had already another contract by the time they got us the estimate. We were initially impressed, but they lacked the follow through.

They did not do what they were hired to do and it was a terrible experience.. They lied to us about the siding and were supposed to reuse a portion of it, but ended up throwing it away. They were also argumentative with us when we called them about another issue (the siding was crooked) .
Description of Work: We hired them to do some hail damage repair on our roof, siding, and gutters.

Description of Work: reroofed the house including the porch and a rubber roof. installed new gutters. blew in attic insulation. Everything went fairly well. There were a few little details we had them come back and fix - that took a while. Things like downspout size. Roof looks good, everything works great.

My wife and I contacted Chad when we felt our roof was showing signs of aging. He made the time to check everything and let us know where our needs were at. He was honest in that our shingles had another 5 years left on them but the plywood in areas underneath was showing signs of wear that needed to be replaced. Another problem we had was when we moved in only half the house had gutters and those were in the poorest of conditions as it was. We decided it best to act on this now and asked Chad for a quote. He quickly came back with some numbers which we felt were reasonable for the work. We decided to go the next step and replace the siding as well with Chad. He updated the quote and we quickly locked down with them considering how busy all contractors are this year. The work started in the next month or so. They were extremely efficient with their process and made very quick work of the roof and everything else. As unprepared homeowners, we through a couple last minute cosmetic additions at them that we thought of after they started. They were more than accommodating to those requests and took care of them without question. When working on the tear off of the existing shingles they found that the plywood was in a worse condition than they were able to anticipate. They were very honest with us and explained the circumstances. Because of the amount of moisture that was being trapped in our attic it had cause damage from the inside. In response they recommended a humidistat fan to be placed in the attic to prevent this from happening in the future. They installed everything for us and we didn?t have to worry about a thing. Each day they cleaned up diligently. I was always impressed with this and even when it came time for them to leave, it was as if they were never here. No nails, no garbage; nothing was left behind. Everyone acted with a professional edge, showed their knowledge and never seemed to miss a beat. In the future if I ever have any needs, I will contact Strander Roofing and anyone that asks for a recommendation my wife and I will tell them that Strander Roofing is who they should call.
Description of Work: Replace Siding, Roofing, and Gutters. Everything but windows and window trim was basically replaced.
told all fall, consistently contacted company to find out service dates, no connection or was simply told "Chad will get beck to you". He finally called end of December, and this type of responsiveness was continued throughout. 12/27, came and measured the windows, said they would take 3 days and then they would start the project. (While we were already having a very cold windy winter!) No contact for a month then suddenly a phone message on a saturday the end of Jan, they were coming the next tues. I had to call back and state thursday and friday would work because I was off work, not suddenly planning tuesday after 5 months of not scheduling the days, or not communicating where my projects were fitting in their schedules. Contract stated there would be equipment so waste is removed cleanly while keeping area clean and no ruts in lawn. On thursday, there are huge snow piles, it's very cold, (below zero wind chill), and they come, park trucks and equipment on lawn - broke downs puts and the salt for the trucks killed the grass. They started to do the roof- really not the time for year for weather conditions to be roofing. they had to stop for over 90 min. because conditions were so bad! The wind was so strong the dust and mold blew into my upper level including the bedrooms. the garbage didn't make the dumpsters, and blew all over. Started solar tubing, exposed the attic hole for over 4 days without plastic sheeting or Hepa filter. Took off my plastic gutter covers, and didn't replace them without my permission, have had clogged gutters and now have to replace these, but can't get up on the 2nd level ladder alone. Came back many days while I had to work or care for my grandson, had to trust. Walked into the house, left a tracked in mess, came home and found they replace a WRONG window, 3 more still to be done. Called--denial- then had to wait for another to be ordered without any apology or recognition of the mistake! Left the mess all over my lawn (the snow) and even nails dumped in the driveway, I had to complain to get some cleanup, plus there were goose and beer bottles found found up in my big barn. the worst was they finally blew insulation in March, told they would have to check inside the house to see that it wasn't coming into where it shouldn't. Well, I came home and discovered the insulation was blown into the cold air return ducts upstairs!! (AND IT WAS VISIBLE, ALL OVER WALLS AND FLOOR)!!! It took over a week for the contractor Chad to even come back and see the problems, and over 6 weeks for them to vacuum the cellulose out of the ductwork. My furnace shut off and no heat, plus sleepless nights with sinus problems since they started the work in January form all the dust and mold, 5 months of treatments for infections and mold in my sinuses!
Description of Work: contracted in summer 2013, replace 8 windows, replace roof on house with shingles and rubber on porch roof, blow cellulose insulation into wall cavity, install 2 solar tubes. included was window replacement and insulation to be done before winter, roofing could wait until next spring. I am a widow from a tragic death of my husband, and struggled to find trusted workers, these fell very far short!

The roofer showed up promply. He politely started working without ringing doorbell as to not wake anyone who might be sleeping. The job was finished and the area was cleaned up as if no one was there. So far the roof is not leaking. I would definitely hire them to do work again.

Strander was recommended to me by another roofer that an acquaintance of mine used to work for, who turned out not to do flat roofs. Strander took a few weeks to get out here for the estimate and even longer for the work. When Chad came for the estimate he told me it would be a while till they got to my job. I thought it was worth it to stick with them because of the recommendation. I thought it was a good sign they were so busy. Their estimate was competitive with the two others I got, but the cost for replacing any sheets of plywood sheathing, as necessary, was a lot less. They finally came - on a Saturday. A big crew came at 7:30. I was at home that day, so I know they worked pretty quietly for a roofing crew. As I went in and out they were friendly. Most of the roof was finished by the end of the first day. No work on Sunday and it rained on Monday. On Tuesday a small crew finished the edges of the roof and most of the soffits, and the gutters were finished by a couple of guys on Wednesday. They left no mess on the ground surrounding the house; it was not apparent that anybody had been up there. Every corner and joint looks perfect.
Description of Work: Replaced flat roof on part of the house, replaced soffits, gutters on the entire house.

Both roofs were done very quickly and professionally. They even stopped back free of charge a couple months later to fix a few shingles after a botched satellite dish installation. I was very impressed. Several years earlier Chad (Strander) put on a small rubber roof on my home. It was the best quote i got and done very professionally and is still great after more than 10 years.Their work is excellent and they aim to please. My only criticism may be that their scheduling can be a bit vague and hard to nail down. It wasn't a problem for me, but if you are on a tight schedule, that could be a problem. I do understand that sometimes weather doesn't cooperate. I would not hesitate to hire them again.
Description of Work: I'm a little fuzzy on the dates (it was after hail storm some years ago) but I got complete new roofs for my home and a small rental home at a very good price.
Strander Roofing and Seamless Gutters did everything on the house. He redid the bathroom vents, reinsulated the attic and put some spray-on foam insulation on the parts that weren't getting insulated. He fixed the airflow through there. We were having trouble with the eaves being plugged up and he got that going. It was more than just a roofing job. He replaced the decking. This guy has studied the construction of attics and roofs. I had a problem with my house, which was built in 1962. It had a mold problem along the edges on the ceiling. There was a construction thing they did in those days which wasn't too good. There is a space between the top of the wall and the roof, so he sprayed all that with the styrofoam out of a can. He had a whole boatload of that stuff. He corrected the airflow in the attic and blew in 14 inches of insulation. The guy who built the house didn't put the stringers adequately on the plywood decking so a lot of the decking was warped, and he replaced that and did it right. One of his workers found a hole in my flat roof I didn't even notice, and they fixed that. Whenever I had a question, the crew was ready with the answers, and really forthcoming and willing to share what they were experiencing. I felt real confident that way. One of the things he did that was amazing was he brought in an army of trucks and trailers. The whole street was full of stuff, and he got all that work done in a day and a half. He had eight guys up there. I may have paid a premium for that, but I have learned that you get what you pay for. This guy really knew what he was doing. The quality of work was exquisite. He had a real professional crew up there.
Description of Work: Strander Roofing & Seamless Gutters did a lot of work around the roof: he did the bathroom vents, insulated the attic, used spray-on foam insulation where the regular insulation wouldn't reach, cleared out the blocked eaves and replaced some decking.

Our roof was replaced due to hail damage and I had multiple bids. The first bidder mentioned there were holes in the can vents and said we should get them "closed" as soon as possible to prevent water damage in the attic and he said it would cost $200 for this temporary repair. Later that same day Strander Roofing came to bid the job. They were also concerned about the holes in the can vents - but instead of charging $200 for a temporary repair - he patched the holes while he was here with a rubber material with an adhesive backing - and he did this at no charge! He (Chad) did this because it was the right thing to do - and he did not know at that time if he would even get the contract! Ultimately ....we did contract with Strander Roofing. The crew arrived as scheduled - very polite, and friendly. And rather than just throwing all of the old roofing material on the ground and then picking it up later as I had seen done at neighborhood houses - they used a small dumpster on wheels with hydraulics that they positioned around the house and most of the old roof was deposited there. Naturally there was some on the ground, but minimal compared to other roof replacements I had seen in our area. After the new roof was installed they spent a lot of time walking the perimeter of the house looking for roofing nails and other debris you normally find after replacing a roof. This is a local company with a local crew; a good experience from bid to completion.
Description of Work: Removed 1 layer of roofing singles, edge metal, can vents, pipe flashing and chimney flashing. Installed ice / water shield, high defintion shingles, galvanized valley flashing, and ridge vent (upgrade from original can vents).

The experience went really well. My parents are going with them. They are fairly priced. I don't think they are cheaper by any means but because the whole roof has to be redone, we were pretty impressed with the quote. The people are super cool. Our overall experience has been excellent so far. They were responsive and we had no problems with any of the staff. I think the person who came out was a little late when she came down for our roofing sample but, it wasn't that significant because by then, I had an electrician and a plumber. We are going to use them some time during this month.
Description of Work: I had a quote from Strander Roofing and Seamless Gutters for my parents' house a month ago. The quote was to do the roof, shingles and the gutters.
