LUMBER LIQUIDATORS

My wife and I thought we were getting great service initially. When all the measurements were complete we were estimated a price of roughly $11,000 to get all the materials for the above listed rooms plus the dining, kitchen, and family room. This included install. When it came to pay for the materials, the price quoted was now $19,900. The associate thought he had explained it to us the 1st time we were quoted the price. My wife showed him the document displaying that he quoted us $11,000. He said he might have made a mistake. We chose to overlook it and proceed to get the everything done but now in 2 phases because of the price increase. When the materials came in, I received an email stating that I needed to arrange pick-up. This detail was also left out of the initial conversations. My wife called the corporate office and they explained that out local Lumber Liquidators would deliver the materials. The local store said that I had to make that arrangement with their installer. The installer said I needed to call the local store. Needless to say we were getting the runaround as to who would be delivering our materials. So I went to pick up the materials myself in my car. The young man working that evening had major attitude. When I backed into the the warehouse, he looked at me with a blank face and proclaimed that I needed to go rent a big truck to load my materials and that he would not even attempt at putting anything in my car. I was very angry by this and we called the corporate office again. We also declined from using their recommended installer, as he was hard to contact any time we reached out to him. They refunded us the install and delivered the materials for free after our displeasure was shared with the corporate office. However, when we went to get the refunded money from the local store, the associate explained to us that the corporate office didn't really know the process of how delivery was managed or much of anything else. I will never go back to this local Lumber Liquidators in Kenosha, WI. They are not disrespectful to clients but also to the people who ultimately employee them.

It was a disaster. There installer was just going to lay the wood over the existing linoleum. They were not going to put wood under the dishwasher and they were not going to take up the existing side moldings. I went with someone ELSE that was highly recommended and would do an excellent installation. Long story short, my installer put in the floor, his workmanship was fantastic. The wood that he installed was not. The quality of the wood that was stated on the side of the container did not match the contents of the box, but since I was out of town at the time, I wasn't able to check what was INSIDE THE BOX - I trusted the label on the outside. I went back to the store to see what they could do about it. They had me wait and wait and finally they said I had to file a warranty claim as the flooring was fully installed. They said I should have read the warranty for the wood. The warranty has a clause that says that I need to check that the wood is of the correct quality and type. Sure, I expected some variations because wood is natural, blah-blah-blah, but when you pay for the highest quality materials, and what you get is substandard, then their is a problem. In the paperwork they never say that I was wrong, they just don't offer to assist in anyway. In the end, it has cost me about $2000 extra to replace some of the wood that was messed up. Ideally I would have replaced the whole floor, but I could not afford to do so. They did not offer a discount on the extra wood I needed to buy. Had I known what I do now, I would never ever do business with this company. Instead I would have bought my wood from anywhere else. On the positive note, the sales manager at the store was polite, but unfortunately he was ineffective at assisting me.

They sold us some staples that we didn't use and when we tried to return them 6 months later they wouldn't take them back.

Overall, everything was pretty good. We are having a few problems with the floor so far, but believe this is mostly due to the installation which was done by another company. When we purchased the wood floors, they didn't tell us there would be any problems with creaking. If we had been warned about this before, we would have purchased a different thickness of the wood.

Store was hard to find, but the location keeps the prices lower. Manager of the Caledonia store was very friendly, very helpful, and knowledgeable of his products. Unfortunately I didn't get to replace my hardwood floors, but when I can, I will start my purchasing process at Lumber Liquidators.

We had shopped with a number of retailers for hardwood flooring materials, and we purchased from Lumber Liquidators due to price. The retail store itself is utilitarian, but it carries a wide selection of samples to choose from. Our order arrived in approximately 3 weeks, which was reasonable. All of the materials required were included in the shipment. My husband installed the flooring in the room and had no issues or concerns. We did notice that the product darkened significant within weeks of installation, so areas that had covered rugs have had to be exposed to even out the floor color.
