I called and set up the appointment for the inspection and asked for radon testing as well. The price quoted seemed reasonable. Rick was already at the home when we arrived 5 minutes prior to the appointment. He was impressively thorough. He started on the roof, worked around the exterior, checked the garage, each room, the attics and the basement. He allowed questions at any time and explained his judgements thoroughly in easy to understand terms. He was clear about which things were expected wear and tear, which were current problems, which were old problems that had been remedied, plus what kind of problems are likely to show up in the near future. When he made recommendations he had samples or brochures so you could see what he was talking about. In general I was very pleased with his knowledge, experience, attention to detail and how he was being respectful in how he interacted with us. The radon testing was done with a special tool that required 48 hours for the test, so those results came later.

Jerry came out to inspect our new home. A thorough home inspection was crucial because the new home was a model that had laid vacant for some time. We were buying the home from a developer that had taken over from a previous developer. As such, we could not depend on a warranty from this new developer as he had not built the model home. We expected a thorough inspection so that we could supply the seller with a list of problems that could be addressed and negotiated prior to closing. Jerry did not come through for us. As to be expected, he did catch some problems. He, however, missed some major problems that would end up costing us hundreds and hundreds of dollars. For example, he failed to point out split seams in the gutters in the front of the house. This led to water collecting close to the foundation of the home. The water seeped into the basement and down the walls onto a shelf. The collection of water found its way into a plastic bag containing a winter comforter. By the time we noticed the problem, the $400 comforter could not be saved and had to be trashed. The main, major disappointment pertained to the master bathroom. Jerry did not perform the necessary tests to determine leaking in both the shower and the sinks in the master bathroom. When the shower was operational it would supply a steady water drip to the basement floor. When the vanity was running for under full flow for less than 45 seconds, water would stream down the poured basement walls. Once we identified the problems (unfortunately after closing), we asked Jerry to come back to diagnose the problem with the master bathroom sink. He thought that one of the pipes was punctured. He estimated the cost of the repair to exceed $3,000. That was his opportunity to apologize or better yet offer to help financially with the problem. HE DID NEITHER. I delayed writing this review because I didn't know what the outcome would be and I had to ensure I was able to pay for a potentially costly repair. For example, aside from the pipe, we had no idea if insulation or wall stud or two needed to be replaced. After thoroughly researching the problem and talking with true professionals about it, my wife and me were able to resolve the plumbing issues. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. This is the first negative review I've posted on Angie's List and it is a shame I had to do so. If anyone recommends, this company to you, beware.
