Everything was perfect. He was able to give recommendations on how to position the microwave and how it should look. Had no issues, and scheduling was a dream.
Description of Work: Purchased the Big Deal for 2 hours of electrical service. He was able to put in a new circuit for our microwave as well as hang the microwave above the stove. This took about 3 hours to do.

I called due to no heat on Friday night, never heard back from anyone. Then I emailed this on Saturday morning: Steve, I need to tell you that I am disappointed at the service that I have not received from the company. I was a customer for many years and had great service. We haven't been a maintenance customer for quite a while but I didn't think that would matter. I called last night, telling the lady who answered that we had no heat and I needed to hear from someone and I never received a call back. Then I called this morning again and the lady who answered said she couldn't see any screens that the other lady could see,when I had asked what happened, why we never got a call. I am unsure where the One Hour part comes in but I am beyond disappointed. Then Heather calls me back and says she will have a technician call me very soon, wouldn't you know, there is no call. So I call back again to their ever helpful answering service, who asks me every single question over again. Then I email this: I honestly can't believe this. Heather called and said she would get back to me very soon. That was about 3 hours ago. Still no call. So.....I call again and get Angela. There is no apologies, nothing and they don't listen after I say "We have no heat since yesterday" she says, is this something that needs immediate attention or do you just want a service call. I said, I think we should get immediate attention. Then she says, can you tell me what you need the service for? Are you kidding me?!?! I am a member of Angie's list and I am going to go on and review this there because it is so beyond unbelievable that I have spoken with 3 different people at ONE HOUR HEATING and can't even get a call back to talk to a technician!
Description of Work: Nothing went since I haven't heard from a technician yet after 3 phone calls.

Based on the information you provided in your emails and reviews, you spoke with a few different representatives from the answering service we work with before ultimately working with our customer service representative, Heather. Regardless if this was the first time you would have called our company or have been a long time customer we strive to provide professional and timely service and are concerned when a customer feels that they did not receive the proper care. We apologize for any upset caused due to any miscommunication. Our records show that Heather spoke with you on Friday evening and again on Saturday morning. According to her notes from your conversations, you had no heat but based on direction from your HSA you were required to use another heating contractor and indicated that they were coming out to provide you with service. On Saturday you called in again to request pricing on two parts that needed to be replaced per the other heating contractor's recommendations. Unfortunately, our office staff isn't equipped to provide pricing for parts over the phone; only our technicians have pricing information and have the ability to provide it during a scheduled appointment in the home. Heather offered to send out a technician again that day but was declined as you were already working with the other heating contractor and were only looking for a price comparison. After this attempt to provide you with service we perceived that you were already moving in the direction to work solely with the other heating contractor. While we wish we could assist you further there seems to be restrictions in this instance with the HSA involvement and contractor you are able to work with. Not what I expected (see above).
Description of Work: This was last year! I thought I already did this? I don't remember the date anymore! But your stupid form wouldn't let me submit without one so I made up a date! I didn't like what I received because I bought a discounted furnace cleaning and tune up though Angie's List. What I received was a sales pitch on how bad my furnace was and why I should replace it because it was so dangerous. I won't fall for that again.

Joe showed up on time for the service call but was slow to get to work. I soon realized that Joe also a salesman, and he relentlessly tried to sell me a service plan for the furnace. Note that I had bought this furnace from Holland over two years before without a service plan, so I'm sure Joe was looking out for my best interest.
Description of Work: I bought the $99 Angie's Special for a '21 Point Certified Furnace or Boiler Tune-Up' from Holland's One Hour Heating. The serviceman Joe did a thorough job tuning up the furnace, finding a large water collector that was leaking which he replaced under warranty. I give Holland an A for this furnace tune-up.

I felt at the time that the service was good, but I still had no heat in the bedroom. I had a differrent comany come in to give me an estimate for a furnace. He looked at the duct in the basement and found that there was a switch that was turned off, thus preventing the heat from getting to the bedroom (this switch was in a place I could not see). I contracted with the other company to reploace the furnace, for about $2000 less and when they examine the duct to remove any debris there was nothing there. The bedroom has been as well heated as the rest of the house with the new furnace.
Description of Work: I wanted the service to determine why one bedroom in my home wasn't getting heat. The technician checked the furnace and the ducts, and told me that the duct was block by debris and that there was a hole in the converter (?) in the furnace. They gave me an estimate for the furnace replacement.

The electrician put in switch boxes in the place of pull chains in the two closets. He did not put the boxes into the walls, but mounted them on the outside (but inside the closets). The light fixture we bought were not the right kind, so we had to return them and get flat mounted florescent lights. He (or someone else) came back the next week and installed them.
Description of Work: They came to perform $99 worth of electrical work for me. I asked the electrician to change the wiring in a hall closet and in a bedroom closet because they were not up to code. He said that he had to run wires all the way to the breaker box and create an additional breaker. Thyis took him several hours.

The work went smoothly and quickly and neatly. One man managed to bring in all the new parts and remove all the old in less than a day.
Description of Work: Small water leak on basement floor was clue to interior problem. The original plan was to replace some major parts, but, when unit was opened, the rust damage was extensive along with stress marks from heat. Therefore replaced the furnace. I am pleased with the new unit. The electrical inspection was completed successfully by the city of Greenfield on 1/18/13.

The man who came out to give estimate was very good. The company operator and customer service people did not have good communication between them selves which was frustrating. The man who came out and did the electrical work needed help from my friend who was there. My friend had to go to the store for items also.

Purchased the Big Deal because we hadn't had a furnace check yet that winter. Initial contact with the company was pleasant enough. We were able to get an appointment in a reasonable period of time. They were late, but sadly, that's about average these days. Technician sent seemed competent. No additional work was recommended - or performed - beyond the diagnostic check as the furnace is only a few years old. I am unhappy with Holland, however, because the technician very intentionally covered over the name and address on the furnace installer's service sticker with Holland's own service record sticker. In my opinion, this is very unprofessional. We plan to sell our home in the near future, and having the installer's information, and entire service record sticker, visible is important. Of course he did not tell us he was doing this and we did not see what he had done until after he had left. Damaging our prior service record was totally unnecessary and due to this dirty trick, I won't be using Holland again.

The installation of the two fan/heater units was much more difficult than anticipated since the replacement units were slightly larger than the original units. The electrician finally found a way to connect the vent fan to the duct work in the ceiling space, but it was necessary to cut out part of the drywall to do that. This was not the fault of the electrician. The electrician persisted and was able to complete the installation satisfactorily. He even tried to fill in the cut-away drywall, although it was necessary to have that repaired separately. Again, this was not the fault of the electrician. I was very glad to have the job completed - it would have been difficult for anyone to do.
Description of Work: Holland's electrician first visited my home to determine if they could install replacement ceiling fan / heater light units in two bathrooms. They assured me that they could do the job so I purchased the fans that were closest to the fans being replaced. The electrician returned a few weeks later to remove the old bathroom ceiling heater / fan units and install the replacement units.

I had purchased a small chandelier to replace an existing chandelier in my dining area. Holland personnel did a good, quick job of removing the old chandelier and assemble and install the new chandelier. The Holland electrician not only did a proper electrical installation but also made sure that the arrangement and appearance of the shades on each light bulb was straight and attractive. The electrician also installed two replacement wall sconces in a foyer, making sure that the sconces were positioned evenly and that the appearance was correct, as well as the electrical hookup. The electrician left the area clean and neat also.

Andy, the electrician, arrived on time. We discussed what I wanted to have done. He explained why the washer/dryer might be tripping the circuit breaker and installed the new GFIC outlet. He was personable, professional, and explained what he did and answered any questions I had. Had the deal for $99 for 2 hours, plus $43 additional cost for materials.
Description of Work: Fixed a switch in the bathroom Installed/replaced an outdoor flood light which I had purchased. Installed a new GFIC outlet in basement for washer/dryer.

That was a very good experience. I called them for 2 reasons. I had no idea how long it would take to do the two things. First, I had fire coming from my wiring and he came out to fix it. Then, he went into the basement to fix an electrical issue there. He is very clean. In fact, there was no trace of him even being there. He did everything in such a timely manner, I still have an extra hour to use. He let me know that the new switch cover normally, but he did it inexpensively.

The inspector was very polite and professional. He made a very detailed inspection as noted in the work description portion of this review. He replaced the batteries in our thermostat. During the inspection he accidentally broke a plastic part, but repaired and warrantied the repair immediately. He drilled a hole in our duct-work to insert a video camera to inspect it. This was the first time an inspection of this detail was performed. He made several recommendations. The price of this service was outstanding for the value received, however I did go to another Angie's list provider for some of the recommended services due to pricing considerations.
Description of Work: I received a season ending furnace tune up and safety check. What that consists of can vary from supplier to supplier. In this case, the inspector checked at least 50 items He checked the thermostat, its mounting, its batteries, and its programming, ductwork cleanliness and condition (he used a video camera for this). He checked the blower for motor current (amps), capacitor condition, cleanliness, wheel bearing condition, and proper cabinet insulation. He checked the evaporator coil for cleanliness, the condensate pump for proper operation, the furnace for proper condensate drainage, proper limit switch operation, gas leaks, and proper gas shutoff functioning. The hoses were check for signs of cracks and wear. Filter condition was also checked. The safety check included checking for the presence and condition of carbon monoxide detectors and whether inflammable items were adjacent to the furnace.

Very Good follow-up and service after the sale...thanks and will use again.
Description of Work: Set appt to Clean and tune furnace in a seasonal rental home...all went well with schedule and service until the sensor and ignitor parts were recommended for replacement by tech. Went along with the upsell safety issue replacement (knowing)to find the price a bit high...but about a week later, when one part failed, they had a tech service truck out there w/in 2.5 hours... FYI...there is a price for Good vs. GREAT service. Thats great service for a Friday night. Thank you again.

see above. The $500 was for the heat exchanger work.
Description of Work: We have had Holland install one new furnace in 2011 and do service work for two residences since. The furnace install went well and we are very pleased with the product, a modulating furnace. (we no longer get blasts of air when the furnace kicks in...well worth it). The price was fair and the install went smoothly. On our property that has an 8 year old furnace, we were told by the technician that both heat exchangers were bad. Obviously this caused a bit of concern given the furnace was installed in a new home in 2004. However it turns out the furnace, made by Carrier, has had a significant number of hear exchanger issues because of the "coating" used. Instead of a recall, evidentially Carrier waits for the homeowner and A/C service provider to show that there an issue. Additionally, Carrier covers the secondary because of a class action suit but not the primary beyond a couple of years. (I think I have this all correct) Anyway, I know a couple of other A/C companies and wanted to cover all of our bases. One servicer would look at the furnace....for a $100 service charge and one stated that Carrier would cover the cost of both exchangers. Given the conflicting stories, I contacted Carrier directly and found the Holland story to be accurate. I did have a delayed quote from Holland due to "communication" issues, however Steve Holland called me immediately and discounted the installation of the primary heat exchanger (the secondary was covered by Carrier per above) When the installation of the two heat exchangers took place the technician showed me where both exchangers were bad. The primary had two noticeable cracks/holes and the secondary looked like the metal had disintegrated. I will not install a Carrier again, although i understand there are only a few manufacturers with multiple lines these days.... When Holland inspects your furnace expect a complete examination. They even look for the residences fire alrams and carbon monoxide detectors.

I was willing to spend a little extra for this first time check-up in my new home. I currently have 2 furnaces that feed different parts of the home. They are controlled by 2 separate thermostats. When scheduling this appt, I shared that I wanted to control both furnaces from one panel and that the technician should be ready to quote this service along with the winter check-up/tune-up. While the winter check-up/tune-up was completed, I was told that we would have to call to make an appt for the quote. WHAT? I set this up when I made the initial appointment. Received a call on the following Monday morning after leaving a message communicating my frustration and disappointment with their answering service. Their customer recovery effort was ok and I did receive an apology. Not sure if I want to give them a 2nd chance but I know that miscommunication happens all the time.
Description of Work: Asked for check-up of 2 furnaces in my home and quote for installation of a single thermostat panel that would control both systems including zone temperature control.

I got lazy and did not follow up to put my money toward another service, but that is not Holland's fault. Overall, my experience was pleasant, they just didn't get the chance to do any work for me.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal thinking that I was purchasing a furnace cleaning, but in fact it was an amount toward any type of maintenance work. This was my misunderstanding. When the tech showed up and found out the misunderstanding, he was polite about the mix up. I got lazy and did not follow up to put my money toward another service, but that is not Holland's fault. Overall, my experience was pleasant, they just didn't get the chance to do any work for me.

The company arrived on time and performed the work quickly. They even inspected my circuit breaker system and made recommendations and quotes for combining my multiple circuit boxes into one box.
Description of Work: Had them replace some old light fixtures and repair some shorts.

Prior to scheduling the repair my husband removed the small area of drywall that Ron indicated would be sufficient and removed shelving that was in the way. I also purchased the outdoor weather proof GFI box needed to replace the exterior box. Luckily Ron was the electrician they sent again since he was available that day and he was the one who saw that when we removed the shelving, left in place by the last owners, an outlet appeared with the missing GFI switch which was off (probably from pressure from the shelving)! I was sure I'd just wasted $99 and a wall! Ron retested the outlets and the outdoor one was not usable and he had a better yet cheaper one on the truck that I chose to install (allowing me to return the more expensive one I had purchased). Rechecked the indoor outlet which was fine, MOVED the missing outlet to where it was usable and the GFI available, added a length of wire to the whole thing so that there was no tautness (the wires had been stretched way too tight). He also checked connections to the electrical switch box and added a switch that made sure the laundry was up to code. As there was still time left he replaced an outlet in the garage which was causing problems, discovering it was crumbling inside the wall and probably saving us from a possible fire. I am a Holland and Ron fan and do recommend them and if the need arises I won't wait for specials because I don't think they will waste my time or money.
Description of Work: I had 2 dead electrical outlets, one inside my laundry room and one outdoors; another electrician had told me they probably couldn't be repaired or the problem traced w/o tearing everything apart and probably rewiring which was not financially feasible. When Holland came out in the spring their excellent electrician, Ron, looked over the area and explained what he would have to do to trace the problem and suggested ways in which my husband and I could keep that cost low by doing some prep work ourselves. So when the next 2 Hours for $99 special appeared I grabbed it.

Ron arrived on time and went over what needed to be done. He took down the old lights on either side of the garage door and installed the new, even putting in the new bulbs, went straight to the dining room (after donning paper booties) took down the hideous ceiling fixture and put up the new one. He was fast, efficient, and courteous. We had 30 minutes left so he proceded to test and repair some switches and outlets in my living room and explained how he would fix another problem and suggested I buy another $99 special later in the year to do so (which I did). I would hire Holland again in a second for electrical work and wouldn't hesitate to hire them for other work hoping for the same competence and ability shown by Ron.
Description of Work: I had purchased 2 exterior lights and a ceiling light that I needed installed and had several questions about other electrical problems in my home. Holland offered a 2 hours for $99 special through Angie's list and they were highly rated so I bought the special! Holland is known for their heating and a/c work but was promoting their electrical work. Holland sent Ron, a master electrician to do the installations.
