remodeling a bathroom turned out to be more stressful than I had expected, but having Steve took some stress away. We took the old linoleum up, and cut the sheetrock an inch around the shower so the old tub/shower could be removed as the plumber requested. The plumber came and took the old bathroom fixtures, but when he went to put the new tub in he had to cut about 36 x 24 inches of sheetrock out of the wall to slide the tub in. I was in tears, but when Steve came the next day to start, he said, "No problem, I'll patch it right up for you and all you have to do is repaint it". I was so impressed. He wasn't the one to cause the big hole, and it didn't affect his project, so it was really nice to not have to figure out how we would get the hole patched during the remodeling. When Steve came out to give us the estimate, he broke it down with 3 separate #'s (bath surround, bath floor, and entrway). He was real clear on the timing and when he could start. He told us the cost would change based on the tile we chose, but told us how to calculate it when we selected tile. I'm very big on clear communication--Idon't like when someone says they will show up and I don't hear from them, or they leave mid way and I don't know when they will continue. Steve was very precise. He told me each day when he would be there, informed me if he had to leave, when he would be back (he had to get corner bead for that sheetrock mess). He always told us what stage the tile was in (should we walk on it, how many days/hours til we can walk on it or shower, etc). Before we started, we had some questions about picking the tile, so we would send him emails (about 3 times), and he always responded promptly. I just don't feel there is a lot of good communication around these days, so it was a pleasant surprise to have that during the tile install. I know his price was good. I don't know if you can find cheaper, but I would never hesitate to call Steve again for another project because the tile is beautifully done, and his communication and help with the sheetrock problem was fabulous.
