Description of Work: Comfort Heat and Air installed a gas furnace, air conditioner and duct work in our home. Very happy with the furnace and air work but had some minor issues with other things such as cleanup (not always done or done well), minor damage (broke baseboard when removing but failed to fix or replace), and appears a glue gun or other "hot" tool left on our tv stand. (Burn mark and glue found). We were not informed of these things nor were they fixed. Also they misplaced our house key. Would I hire them again? Yes! There is a lack of professionalism in cleanup as well as repairs when they damage things but the price is very affordable. Makes up for the minor damage and inconvenience. And the work so far appears excellent.

Bill seemed to know his stuff, but came a little unprepared to do the work. Left his flashlight in his truck. I offered to get my own flashlight and held it for him so he could see. Said he was going to get himself "one of those headlamps someday". Indicated that he needed to polish the tip of the sensor with steel wool. But didn't have any steel wool in his tool box. I dug some out of my supply for him. His knowledge was helpful the day before when he got the furnace up and running over the phone. But the work he performed the next day seemed very basic and rudimentary. The most difficult thing he did was to clean out the condensate trap with soap and water. . When he handed me the invoice he admitted that he had filled out the invoice back at the office before he came out. Which seemed a little strange because it said he "cleaned and checked burners, igniter, sensor, combustion compartment interior, wire connections, safety and limit control, blower assembly, condensate trap and inspect primary heat exchanger". I stood there watching him do the work, and asked what the components were that he was servicing. In my opinion, he over charged me because he didn't clean and inspect all those components as listed on his invoice. I wish I would have spoken up when paying the invoice, because I feel like I paid for services that he didn't perform. He was in my house for only 15-20 minutes.
Description of Work: Had been without working furnace for a day before we recognized furnace was on the fritz. I was able to communicate to Bill over the phone that according to the furnace troubleshooting manual the blinking diagnostic light indicated that the pressure switch was closed. He had me disconnect the wire leads to one of the switches and then reconnect it. That got the furnace operating again which was great. He had told me that he'd be over early in the morning, probably between 7:30-8:00 Said he'd likely have to replace pressure switch, and would perform furnace inspection since it hadn't been done in 4-5 years. Actually showed up the next morning around 10 am in jeans and tennis shoes (no uniform). He said he had gone in to town to get the proper switch because he didn't have in stock which is why he was late getting out to our house. Furnace had continued to function on its own with the original switch until he came out and replaced with new. He left the original switch as a spare. I'm assuming that meant the old one might still be good.

Response from Comfort Air Heating and Cooling
This is in response to [member name removed] review on December 13, 2013. The lateness of this response is a result of Angies List failing to promptly notify Comfort Air Heating and Cooling in a timely manner. The service call performed on December 2, 2013 for [member name removed]. First of all, I want to say I am sorry [member name removed] was disappointed in service performed. At Comfort Air Heating and Cooling we always strive to go above and beyond the call of duty do the extras that prevent service call backs. Initially, I received a no heat call on the Sunday December 1, 2013. Our service department was able to instruct the [member name removed] how to temporaily adjust the pressure switch wires to to obtain heat over the weekend and avoid the extra cost of high rates charged on after hours calls. The following Monday I was able to locate the necessary part to repair to fix [member name removed] furnace. Since the Rheem disdtributor is 45 miunutes from my home during rush hour traffic and [member name removed] home in proximiity is 45 minutes from the Rheem distrubutor the travel time to complete the circuit was 90 minutes. Therefore, the tenative time promised to service [member name removed] Rheem high efficeincy furnace was not what I had estimated. [member name removed] Rheem high efficiency gas furnace which is approximately 14 years. Our company has installed and serviced this particular model since they have produced since 1994. The furnace was not operating because the condensate trap was internally obstructed with condensate debris. If a high efficiency gas furnace is serviced on annual basis this type of service call can be avoided. After cleaning the condensate trap and cleaning the flame sensor, I visually checked all the furnace components listed on the invoice. I certainly would have appreciated any concerns [member name removed] would have had when I presented him with the service invoice. Sincerley, Bill Parikka/Comfort Air Heating and Cooling
