I called Fred's Sanitary to set up an appointment for well and septic inspection, hoping to "kill two birds with one stone." I asked for the inspector to give me a call 15 min prior to his arrival so that I could go over to the property, as I do not live there. He said "that system does not work". I asked him what that meant. He said that cell phone communications do not work. I am still scratching my head about that one. The day he was to arrive, we called to find out a time of arrival and were told ten minutes. He showed up and ultimately wrote a report that failed the well and pressure system due to "casing height" and "incorrect sample faucet". I have an inspection from 2009 on the same property that says that the systems were checked and found to be in compliance with WI code. Since nothing has changed about the well system, I could not help but wonder why it passed once and then failed. I called another very reputable well inspection company and had him look at the two "failing" components. He looked at the sample faucet and told me that it passed with no problem. He looked at the casing and said that he would pass it as well because the system is situated so that it would never be prone to flooding from excess rainwater or run-off. He did recommend a vermin proof cap. He also told me that any well systems installed before 1991 were grandfathered in as far as code requirements, and this particular well was installed in 1973. I would never recommend using these people for any work. This man's lack of knowledge cost me $600.
