Description of Work: To start off here, it should be said that I am a master carpenter and have a hard time paying others to work on my house. I prefer to do my own work but realized that the roof was too much for me and my aging buddies. I did a ton of research and decided on J&J. I removed the chimney and patched the framing and sheeting on the roof. (No need for the chimney anymore and it was in sad shape). |I hired J&J Contractors to do a full tear-off of two layers of roofing and remove all old trim and soffits. They were to fully vent my soffits and add a ridge vent. All new metal trim and gutters and downspouts were to be in a new color. |My neighbor has an un-accessible back yard AND she needed a new roof too. We both got bids and decided to have J&J do both at the same time since her dumpster would be in my yard anyway. |We were told an expected date of start and that day came and passed, after a few calls the job-runner called me back and told me of a new starting date. (July 5th.) Work began and the neighbor's house went well, start to finish. After completing the neighbor's house they began mine, I was a little worried because I had a planned trip coming up (and they knew about it) and I wanted to be here when the new soffit work was being done. Dustin, the lead man on the roofing crew was awesome! He was however, saddled with some truly p***-poor helpers. BOTH of his underlings quit or just stopped showing up for work and were fired. Poor Dustin finished up the job alone. I helped the tired guy clean-up and stow his gear at night just so he could get home at a reasonable hour. |Two days before I left for my trip, neither of our houses had gutters or downspouts. The day before I left, the gutters were rolled out and mine were the wrong color. I caught it and stopped them in time to save them from producing the whole job. The soffit, trim and drip edges were also the wrong color. Everything was delivered in the right color later that day. |Next morning I left the state and got daily text updates from my neighbor on the progress of her gutters and later, finally, mine were installed too. |Upon returning home a week later I discovered that the small roof over my front door was not stripped and simply just shingled over BOTH layers of old roofing, trim was wrong style and installed incorrectly, and my soffits were not vented as bid. |My house has a very small overhang and needs to be vented fully to give any benefit to the ridge vent. The venting that was done in my absence was a few panels of vents servicing about every third rafter space. Not every rafter as was needed. The wooden soffit board above the vented panels had seemingly randomly placed holes drilled into them supposedly to allow air to flow. The holes drilled were 2" diameter and were fully covered over with debris from the roof tear-off. This was clearly visible to me from inside my attic. This soffit board was supposed to be almost fully removed in order to offer enough vent area. |I waited for the job-runner to call and had him come by, even he was shocked to see the bad level of work performed. A few days later he had his "A Team" show up and re-do the work. |They then did a fine job, it just makes them look bad that all the shortcuts were taken while I was out of town. | |I was disappointed with the short cuts taken and the poor quality of some of the work. |I was VERY impressed with the response I received after my complaints were heard. The work in the end is truly top notch. The beauty of the shingle job and the quality of the trim (once it was all done), is something even I am proud of. |Granted there were some problems with my job, but J&J didn't fight me, and stood up to the problems and then dealt with them. |They made it right. |Every remodel or construction job will have trouble with workers or materials or even sub-contractors, but how the company deals with these issues is the real measure of satisfaction. |I am very happy with the outcome, Jerry was a great first-contact, Dustin was an amazing lead-roofer, my job runner is a little inexperienced and learning his trade but still got it done right. The office people were the most pleasant and very competent. |Now two houses on our block look great and are ready for winter. |Thanks.

Description of Work: I had a complete roof tearoff. There was extra work involved because of previous roofers from another company a few years ago not only put on the second layer of shingles they also put on another layer of boards. This involved more labor hours to remove every layer. I was satisfied with the work J&J did.

Description of Work: Tear off old roof, remove siding from large dormer, replace roof and siding, ice and water shield on dormer, install all vents including ridge vents.

Description of Work: Needed a new roof, Angies list rated J&J contractors very well and were close(didn't want to pay any extra for fuel costs}. The supplies and dumpster arrived before the job, (a good thing). The crew arrived straight from another job, put on company shirts and went straight to work. The work was done quickly and expertly. The crew was always courteous and answered any question i had. They were careful to cover any plants that might be damaged and did a thorough clean-up afterwards. Roofing is a hot and tiring job (I wouldn't want to do it!) and no one complained. Any concerns I had were immediately addressed. That said, they are still a company for hire using your money, it is your responsibility to monitor the job.

Description of Work: J & J Contractor put a new roof on my house. They had to extend the roof line over a flat porch area that had a flat roof on it and I always had leakage there. They extended the slope of the roof line over that area. They also put in new gutters over the whole house.

Description of Work: J&J Contractor I LLC tore off all layers of the old roof, replaced the entire roof on the house, the siding on the dormers and the gutters were replaced with a gutter helmet system.
