My Furnace went out in January. Ray's came out in less then 30 minutes. Replaced our Furnace on a holiday at no extra charge.

Tec was on time that is all the good I can say. Walked to the back of the house told me he could not do anything for me , told me he needed to go back to the office and look the unit up I asked if he needed the model number was told no said he would call me in half hour to 45 minuets never called back very unprofessional called a different company had unit running in 15 minuets

Not good. Sam arrived, took one look at furnace, then left for 2 hrs., Said he had a hard time finding “control spark box” when he returned. I asked him how he knew what problem was when he didn’t test anything. He said,”that’s always the problem. “ Charged me $158.87, plus $175.00 labor. Did not fix problem.Had him back 3 times. Finally i called another heating Co. and they installed a new Ignition Control Box. (proper name for box). I then called Ray’s & asked for the refund on the box which had only been in for 4 months and never fixed problem. I said I would pay for labor, only wanted to be reimbursed for control box. She said he would call me back. When i had not heard from him i researched the box he installed and found out Johnson controls had quit making that box for several years. I don’t know where he found the box he installed in my furnace, but when i called again & spoke to the woman (i took to be his wife) she said i should drop the box off in his shop and he would see about what a warranty would do. I told her I had checked and this part had not been made for several years so obviously there was not a warranty. Have not heard a word since. I would definitely NOT recommend Rays Heating.

Mrs. [Member Name Removed]: I feel your review is not fair to my Company. Our motto is to treat people the way we would like to be treated. We have worked with you on this issue from the beginning and went over and above what most companies would do for you. We did replace the box, referred by some as control spark box or ignition control box among other references to the exact same part. It did work for 4 months as we did not hear from you again until you called another company out. We did come back each time you called us, at no charge. Each time the unit was working properly. Had you called us back again & the part was faulty/defective, we would have replaced it at no charge to you, but you didn't. As I told you on the phone, I have no idea what part the other company replaced & if they did replace the same part that we had initially installed, please drop it off at our shop & I would see what warranty I could get. I can not get warranty on anything if I don't have a defective part to turn in. You chose not to bring the part to my shop, therefore, I can't file a warranty claim on it. That is why you haven't heard back from me. If you would still like to drop the part off, I will see what I can do for you. Our goal is to treat our Customers with the utmost respect & make sure they are completely satisfied with our service. We are always willing to work with our Customers and according to your review and mine, we came back to your home every time you called, without hesitation, and we did not charge you. That to me, sounds like a company I would be greatful for & willing to work with in the future. We are an honest & fair business. I'd be anxious to know if your furnace fails you in the future or if the part we bought had been defective & should have been replaced by us. We appreciate all the work you have given us in the past and hope things work out well for you in the future. Lisa

I called around and found other servicers willing to come out to have a look in a week, but Ray's said they could work me in the same afternoon, and even managed to make it over earlier than their target window. (They called to make sure coming early was okay.) Their house call fee was $20 less than the cheapest of the other places that I called (another wanted $45 more than Ray's). Ray came, quickly diagnosed the problem, had a suitable replacement in his van, and had the stove back up and running in an hour. He also caulked a hole in the base of the stove that the installer should have when the stove was put in 15 years ago.
Description of Work: Our remodeled attic bedroom in our century-old bungalow is only heated by a gas fireplace, so when the thermopile (which keeps the gas valve open as long as the pilot light is lit) failed the first weekend in February, we needed to get it fixed fast. (Symptom: stove turned itself off when it was going and was supposed to be on, based on thermostat setting; and the pilot light also went out. Then the pilot wouldn't re-light after several tries -- the igniter lit the flame, but it wouldn't stay going.)

Description of Work: I had a space heater go bad in the basement. It was a natural gas one. Ray fixed the issue by shorting the thermo switch so the fan would be running 24/7. That was fine I suppose. He mentioned he had an old unit back at his shop to sell me. I paid cash for the unit which was from 1974. He installed it and it didn't work, it actually caused our CO2 alarms to go off because it wasn't venting properly. He returned and re-routed the out-vent. That fixed that problem but my tenant still wasn't satisfied because the furnace wasn't outputting very much heat (He had a thermometer in the basement, and the temperature barely raised at all after 2 hours). I called Ray and told him he wasn't happy suggesting we could put the old one back in. Ray was pretty p***** of at me and said I should pay him first. He said he would get back in touch with me after I paid him. Well, I paid him and it's been about a month. I guess Ray doesn't want to deal with any bad news.

THE FIREPLACE WOULD NOT WORK. tHE PILOT LIGHT WAS OUT. HE CLEANED AND ADJUSTED THE LINE WHERE THE PILOT LIGHT IS AND RELIGHT THE PILOT.AFTER A LITTLE MORE ADJUSTING EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT.

Description of Work: He came in and told use what was wrong with our A/C. It cannot be fixed because it is 45yrs old and can't get the parts and cannot get the R22 freon. When I told him I could get a used unit he was still willing to install it but he also took the time to explain the pros and cons of using the used and a new unit. He did NOT pressure me or try to convince me to go new but he did want me to understand the risks of going off of a used unit that I could get off of Craigslist. | |I really liked and appreciated that he took the extra time to explain what was wrong with my A/C in a way that I could fully understand and write down notes. He also showed me what he was talking about. | |The company also offered me the option of having 1 yr of no interest to finance it. | |We have 2 other major issues with our house so we are going to wait a bit before purchasing a new unit but I will definitely use this company when I am ready.

Started having issues with our forced air gas furnace on Sunday. It didn't work for the better part of the day and then decided to work again around 10pm that night. Called that night at 8pm and someone actually picked up. I was planning on just leaving a voicemail and scheduling something the next day, but I was able to talk to them that night and got scheduled for 1:30 in the afternoon the next day. Ray arrived on time and was quick to diagnose the problem as a bad pressure switch. My drain lines got plugged up and moisture had gotten into the switch causing it to go bad. He replaced the switch and took extra care to make sure the fix worked as it was, after all, an intermittent issue. It fired up perfectly every time after that. He even went above and beyond and looked over some of my ducting and noticed my water heater exhaust wasn't to code. He wasn't able to fix it, but recommended what could be done.
