Excellent service. Two gentlemen came to our house on the same day we called (Friday of Labor Day weekend) and diagnosed the problem, but they had to order a new part. On Wednesday the part was installed and our washer runs like brand new.
Description of Work: Our washing machine was making a loud, grinding noise.

Description of Work: He looked at our old built in oven and advised that with the age and cost of electronic parts replacement, it did not pay to repair.

Even though John Behnke, the owner and serviceman of Independent Applicance SVC Inc., received high ratings and words of praise through Angie's List from previous customers, I was not at all pleased with his overall service. My 2003 Maytag washer did not drain the water from the wash cycle. Because of positive comments from Angie's list, I called his office cell number three times. John never returned my call. So I callled his home phone number. I was given very poor excuses as to why he did not return my calls. such as he was taking a nap. He gave me a time and date that he would be at my home to do a diagnostic check of the washer, and he did arrive at the appointed time. I was billed a $30.00 service charge and $25.00 for each 30 minutes of labor. He checked to make sure that the water in the wash cycle was not draining and then made a call to order a new timer. That took no more than 15 minutes, but I was charged for a full half hour. Before he left, he asked me to pay him for the cost of the new timer which amounted to $157.82. ( It was my assumption that the parts would be paid for when the job was completed.) I was told it would take one day for the timer to arrive and that he would call me when it came in. After 4 days, I had not heard from him, so I called his office cell number. Once again he did not return my call, so I phoned his home phone. He informed me that he had not checked his messages. John did arrive at my home at the appointed time to install the new timer. I must admit that he was a competent worker and was familar with various parts of my washer. On the other hand, I was very disappointed with his lack of professionalism and the over charging of his services. Because of his disappointing work ethic, I would not recommend him to anyone in search of a person to repair a large appliance unless you are patient and willing to make several follow-up phone calls in order to have your repair needs attended to in a manner that will be met to your satisfaction.
Description of Work: My 2003 Maytag washer did not drain after the wash cycle. It was determined that a new timer was needed. A new timer was ordered on March 14, 2013 and was installed on the March 18, 2013.

Excellent.
Description of Work: My nearly 20 yr old refrigerator was frosting up in the freezer section but wouldn't stay cold. John was able to diagnose the problem when nobody else wanted to bother with it due to age of appliance, took the back off the unit, replaced the thermostat and it works better than ever.

GREAT work for various repairs over a number of years
Description of Work: Wanted a trustworthy appliance repair vendor in Green Bay area. Friend recommended John of Independent Appliance. Have used his services now for over five years, He has repaired my stove, washer and dryer in addition to various repairs for an old dishwasher. Later I purchased a new dishwasher and requested his install of the new unit as I trusted his workmanship. John is kind and soft-spoken older man that does outstanding work for a very reasonable price. He always makes his appointment times and is very efficient. When my mother-in-law in De Pere needed appliance work recently, I insisted that she call John. She was also very satisfied. As he works alone and has a list of clients, he is busy. But call and request an appointment and he normally will be there within 24 hrs for non-emergency repairs. Would recommend VERY HIGHLY
