Our roof was the original installation, approaching 31 years ?. it seriously needed replacement. After delaying the project for several years, I solicited two quotes ... lot of variation in pricing (50% variation in cost) ? schedule for roofing replacement varied from 3 to 6 days. One of the proposals even tried selling me a metal roof (2.5 times the standard of conventional shingle roof). We had special requirements that the initial two proposals did not address, or refused to consider. Because of the variation I decided to get another estimate. I started by reviewing Angie?s list ?.. found very good reviews for H and S Roofing. A representative from H and S responded immediately ... their quote was received by email the next day ?. a formal written proposal followed by mail within 1-day. Many of the special requirements were outlined in the formal proposal; the other two provided a verbal quote without details. H and S Roofing?s willingness to modify their standard schedule, i.e., date and start time, in conjunction with cost, made our decision easy! My requirements were ? 1). minimize the time to complete the roofing, 2). start after 9:00 am (had business commitments), and 3). provide support to recommend shingle colors/patterns to match proposed new siding. H and S Roofing cost was in line with the previous lower bidder (within $100) -- cost $11,000. Gutters and gutter topper (not addressed by the other two bids) were an extra cost. We initially set a construction date. However, it was necessary to delay the construction to allow additional time to review different shingle patterns/colors ? we found the decision was not easy. They were very easy to work with ? when we needed additional sample panel boards, they contacted the manufacturer, and with 3 days, they arrived. CONSTRUCTION: Construction proceeded with no issues. There workers were one of the most efficient crews have I have ever worked with (been in engineering/construction for over 45 years). Workers were professional, complied with every detail of their original proposal and completed the roof replacement with 1-1/2 days, even with the later morning start time. I was especially impressed with the ability of every member of the crew ? each of the worker would remove the old roofing, clean/replace bad decking, install base sheet, set and install shingles and finally the trim/accessories. No one stood idol for even a minute! A different crew arrived, several days later, to install new gutters and gutter guards. This crew performed as well as the roofing crew. I would not hesitate to recommend H and S Roofing for roofing replacement, to include gutter replacement and gutter toppers.

These guys were AMAZING during both of the roof replacments that they did for us. I received 3 quotes from 3 different companies and H and S was by far the price. I was receiving quotes $1000 more than what they gave me and in the end that is what we paid. They didn't suddenly add on things or "find something else wrong". The day that they were to replace the roof on the house it was going to rain, but they kept in contact with me letting me know when they could start. Recently we needed to replace the roof on our detached garage. I contacted them 2 days before we were leaving on vacation for a week and half. They rushed the contract to me and they did the work while we were gone. The clean up is like they were never even there tearing up a roof. The customer service I have received with them is above and beyond what I was getting from other companies and have recommended them to everyone I know! Highly recommended.

Extremely pleased. Crew arrived right on time and never stopped working! They finished on one day. The site was left absolutely spotless, neat and clean. Plants and other landscaping were carefully covered. While I expected a roof room I was very pleased with the efforts made by the crew to be so professional.

H AND S Roofing made the roof replacement on our home a very positive experience. The quote we received was right in line with other contractors who had quoted. The selection of shingles was fabulous with a wide array of colors/brands available to select from. Someone was available to answer any questions or address any concerns. H AND S had excellent communications with us. Ourselves and our neighbors were delightfully shocked as to how professional the installation process went. Everything was covered all around the house so any nails or materials that fell would be caught. There was no damage to any plantings or shrubs around the foundation of the home or in the yard. The mess was completely cleaned up. There are no nails on the lawn, driveway or mulch. Everything from gutters to leave guards were put back to its original state. Our complete roof was removed and the new one installed, the mess cleaned up.... all in ONE day. The workmanship on the roof looks GREAT! I would definitely use H AND S again in a heartbeat.

Paul was extremely professional... and his crew was curious and very thorough. They cleaned up after themselves, they were willing to negotiate the price and added in our shed for free. Our original roof should have been replaced years ago and was in extremely bad condition. Paul inspected thoroughly and estimated exactly what was needed to do the job the right way. We had some other quotes that were a little cheaper... but they were going to cut corners that we didn't want to cut. We wanted the job done the right way and Paul did that for us. He is very knowledgeable, extremely professional. He informed us in his written and detailed quote exactly what would be done. We were also not inconvenienced in any way during the process... didn't have to take any time off to meet him for a quote, he maintained communication through emails and calls and he was very easy to work with. His crew arrived on time and with the proper safety gear and finished on time. They use a quality product and were very skilled with installing it... we feel we got exactly what we paid for! We are very pleased.

They arrived between 7:00 and 7:30 AM, and finished about 3:30 PM. The workers were very hard working and courteous. They also did a nice clean up when they were finished. I was very happy to the job! Even some of my neighbors stopped by and admired my roof. One even had them do his roof a month later! I would recommend them to anyone.

PERFECT. This company does what they say and a at a fair and most competitive price. Crews were great! Good communication with any questions I had. Would recommend to anybody looking for roofing and gutter replacement.

Arrived morning of project. Roof on in one day, clean up excellent. Very polite and professional. Another crew came following day for gutters and downspouts. Again no complaints. Very good work done by all.

went well. Provider showed up promptly and was very thorough. There was a delay waiting for workers to eventually come and do the repair work but provider actually charged less than his initial estimate.

The crew of 10 laborers and one of the owners, arrived at 8am and started setting up.They were on the roof and tearing off shingles within 15 minutes. By 10am the entire roof was cleaned off and roof damage was being repaired which amounted to 4 sheets of plywood being applied. The supply truck of shingles arrived around 10am and started loading them on the roof. Around 12pm the crew a lunch break and by 1:30pm, the roof was done and clean-up was taking place. By 2pm, the place had been cleaned up and the crew was gone. Excess materials were neatly piled up on the lawn next to the driveway and were picked up by who I believe was a co-owner around 4pm. Upon inspection of the area around our house, I found that nothing had been left behind. I especially was looking for any roofing nails and didn't find any. My wife and I live in a one story 1300 square foot home with an attached two car garage to put things in prospective for any readers.

These guys are fair, honest, hard working and prompt. I'll call them again in a heartbeat

The project went extremely well. We obtained 3 bids and their price and proposal were both realistic extremely competitive. It was a big project so it took about a week (compared to a 3 week estimate by a competitor). The crew showed up every day, worked 10 hour days and were diligent. They cleaned the work area every day and were extremely polite and accommodating. The shingle we chose was one of the more difficult to install and they made the job look easy. When special requests were made the word no was not in their vocabulary.

Excellent customer service. Very responsive. Did the work to the quote from the insurance company. We had to have this work done by July 30 to get paid for by our insurance company. We didn't get insurance company approval until July 23. H and S moved our work up and got both the roof and the gutters done in less than 3 days to meet the deadline. Very responsive. Overall quality of workmanship was excellent. Friendly staff, Paul walked us through the process. Only small issues what that their crew did damage (a little) a few of our bushes but given the rush nature of this job the damage was minor. Would definately use them again. Highly recommended.

It was a very lengthy, in detail estimate and I would use them probably when I need a new roof.

I chose them because they gave me the lowest estimate for the entire job. I would use them again in the future.

I already had asked for several estimates when my insurance agent mentioned the excellent job H and S had done on their building. Prior estimates were not satisfactory or could not complete the job before winter. The H and S representative gave me an estimate of $7400 but offered a coupon for $200 off the final job. He was easy to work with and answered all my questions thoroughly. They began work and dealt with the very complicated (multiple high pitched surfaces on a triple A frame construction) roof on my home. they completed the job in 3 days and cleaned up extremely well. They provided extra shingles for future repairs. I would ask them to work on the roof if needed in the future.

We had a big storm and a branch fell through the roof. My insurance company paid for the repairs. They did one roof, with 5 guys in one day. They were here in the morning and they were gone at night. Its a beautiful roof. They did a great work. They had to replace some boards and they did that easily and its just a wonderful job. it was fast! We had the storm and they were there at night when the storm hit and nailed a tarp to the roof so there wouldn't be any damage to the inside. Two days later they were there to fix it. They are wonderful guys. I would absolutely use them again.

They were excellent and really really good. They came out and showed me a lot of samples but we decided not to do the work right then.

The company we contracted with (Hand S) brought in a subcontractor who subcontracted his own workers for the insulation portion of the work. The crew who did the roofing was very efficient, professional and tidy. The crew contracted for the insulation work was messy, loud, and careless. They had to come back out 3-4 times to get the insulation and soffit portions done, and the result was what we had contracted for, along with a popped swimming pool, several dozen cigarette butts around the house, 2 blown fuses (one of which damaged our networking equipment and left us without phone or Internet for several days), a broken attic door and a variety of empty fast-food containers in the bushes and along the curb. All of these were from the subcontracted company - not from Hand S, but when we asked Hand S to help with these issues he kept forcing us to deal with the subcontractor who HE hired - which was very frustrating and ineffectual.

I will update this report when we sign a contract and the work starts. So far so very good though.
