This company was scheduled for over a month to install a dishwasher that I had purchased from Sears. The installation was scheduled for tomorrow. Today I received a called from a lady at Quality First Installations named Cathy, who stated that they would be at my house tomorrow between the hours of 3 and 7 PM to install the dishwasher. I explained that I could not be home before 4 PM, but that I could be home between the hours of 9 AM and 2 PM if that worked better for them. I just could not be home between 2 and 4 PM. I asked her to please make sure that the installer did not come before 4 PM and if he did, to please wait. She was very inflexible and unyielding and stated that the installation time was set between 3 and 7 PM and that the installer wouldn't wait if I could not be at home between 3 and 7 PM. What kind of customer friendly attitude is that? I explained that I had waited for this dishwasher for over a month and she was not interested in hearing about my problems; she reiterated that I needed to be home between 3 and 7 PM if I wanted the dishwasher installed. She then asked if I wanted to cancel the installation. I said no, but then I called Sears and advised them that if this contractor did not get my dishwasher installed tomorrow (between 4 and 7 PM), I would cancel my order and purchase a dishwasher from another retailer who used customer friendly installers

I spoke with him after he left the house asking him to please just lift up the countertop that was being replaced 1/2 inch to get the dishwasher in there, he refused to listen, told me that he's been doing this a long time and that i needed an ADA dishwasher. I told him fine and asked him to return the dishwasher back to Sears so i could get a refund. They NEVER returned it back to Sears and i am still trying to get refunded for the dishwasher that never got off the truck, 2 months later. I was able to get a new dishwasher (non-ADA) installed the following week by Lowes and it couldn't have been easier, as the installers were professional. Sears unfortunately uses this company exclusively in our area for their installs, so looks like I won't be doing any more business with Sears either. As a note, this was the 2nd time Quality First botched an installation for me, the other time was a island exhaust hood. They are terrible. If you are forced to buy an appliance from Sears, please make sure they DON'T use this install company. It will be better to pay more for a reputable company to install your appliance.
Description of Work: The installer came in, made 1 measurement, told my wife he couldn't perform the installation of the dishwasher without cutting 18 inches out of my hardwood floor and then left.

We purchased our dishwasher online from Sears, who scheduled the installation with Quality First. Long story short, we ended up ordering the wrong size the first time around, so we in fact had two installation experiences with Quality First. The first installer, Jeff, called ahead of time to let us know he was on his way and arrived on time as promised. When it came time to remove our old dishwasher, he had the unfortunate task of telling us we had ordered the wrong size, and that the new one in his truck would not fit. (Apparently, homeowners with hardwood floors often find themselves in this In pickle, as the old dishwasher essentially becomes wedged in the space, and new ones are built differently altogether.) In spite of our frustration, he was kind enough to walk us through the next steps of returning the old one and going about finding one that would fit. Grade: A+ service. [In between installations, we had gone back to Sears and purchased the right size dishwasher, which they again set up for delivery with Quality First. We walked out of the store with instructions that we would again receive a call confirming the date and specific time prior to the installation.] Fast forward two weeks. The day before our scheduled installation, we still had not received a confirmation call, so we contacted Sears, who assured us our installation was still "on." They left an email and voicemail at the Quality First office, asking them to call us to confirm directly. The following morning, I received a call from the receptionist who told me the installation was cancelled. Not good, particularly since neither of us had actually called to cancel, much less actually spoke with anyone regarding our second install date. I ended up speaking with Pete, the owner, who explained that he would need to check with his team and the warehouse to see whether our dishwasher could be picked up. Within an hour, we got a call back confirming that he would be picking up and installing our dishwasher. Like Jeff, he called when he was on his way, and he was able to remove our old unit and install the new one within two hours. Grade: C- on the scheduling; A+ on the installation.
