Bertram's Construction (also listed under Mike Bertram) replaced a garage spring door while I was overseas on a military deployment for the young lady who was maintaining my household during my absence. Mike was good enough to stop by on an emergency call; however, a year later when my garage door was not closing properly, I contacted another company who told me that he should have replaced both springs and the spring he did replace was the wrong size. I have also had problems with Mike when he replaced a front door (during my deployment) and he took my old door (which was still in good condition) which I wanted to keep to give to my neighbor. To this day, I also have no idea what happened to the keys to my new front door so I have no keys to my front door. In addition, I have had problems with Mike with a basement window replacement and a couple other handyman jobs that he was supposed to complete (installing light fixtures, fixing loose doorknobs) which he said he would do but it has been months, and he has not returned my calls. Mike may be better suited for larger construction jobs such as remodeling but if he did not want to be my handyman, then he should have mentioned this in the beginning. I would not recommend Bertram Construction or Mike Bertram to anyone.

Mike's most recent job was to replace a basement window which had been leaking from rain water. He was good enough to measure it for me and tell me what supplies I needed which I gladly purchased from Home Depot. After he installed the window, I stated that I was really happy the window was not going to leak anymore. He responded, "You should have had me put in an ice block window." which shocked me since he never mentioned this to me before even after having a lengthy discussion about my leaking window. Well I went and purchased an ice block window and unfortunately, 3 years later he still has not replaced it. I was out of state/country for a military obligation however had left instructions with my house sitter to contact him and had also spoke directly to Mike in regards to my situation. He promised that he would replace the window and to this day (May 26, 2014) he has yet to replace it. My most recently conversation with him was about 2 months ago when again the window started leaking and again, he promised to come out and replace the window. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY! I think that since most of my jobs were small, he felt that he was too good to take the jobs since his business card lists remodeling and larger construction projects. If he did not want the jobs, then he should have told me in the beginning and told me the proper window I needed to fix my leaking window.
Description of Work: I hired Mike Bertram from Bertram Construction on a recommendation from my local mechanic. Mike never really seemed interested in helping me with my "honey to do lists" such as replacing light fixtures, making minor repairs in the bathrooms, replacing sinks etc. He did each job but would often grumble about it and left quite a few jobs uncompleted.
