Description of Work: Removed and replaced existing asphalt driveway. Showed up on scheduled day and removed driveway and prepped driveway for next day surfacing of new driveway. They found a soft spot at the end of the drive when prepping the first day. They had to remove several feet deep of soil and replace it with large stones. None of this was in the quote. All the extra work was done at no extra charge. The salesperson was very nice. H was there at the prepping and the pouring. He kept us updated as to what was happening at all times. We are very pleased.

Description of Work: They put in new driveway, claiming it exceeded all standards. It settled two inches within a few weeks. Numerous complaints and threats, including discussions with the owner, led to the marginal solution of evening out the asphalt at the sidewalk; with an incline. Looks terrible. I'll have someone else put in a new driveway next year.

+ -1 moreThey did the job quickly and without a lot of inconvenience for us. Within 2 months the asphalt was cracking, and they blamed the dryness of the summer and tree roots. Perhaps they were right, I don't know. I asked them what they could do, and they came out with a blow torch to try and fix the cracks. They didn't really respond, they only came after I came called them numerous times. When I first evaluated them there were people saying there was a problem with their responsiveness, and I had a problem with it from the beginning.
Description of Work: I used Suburban Asphalt to completely re-do my asphalt.

+ -1 moreAt the very end of September, someone finally called and left a message saying that they were too busy to get to me this fall and asked me to call if I would like for them to come out in the spring. They at least had the courtesy to call, but it was several weeks later, which was too late because I needed it done quickly.
Description of Work: I called them out on September 2nd and left a message on an answering machine to have my blacktop driveway resurfaced.

+ -1 moreThe gave me an estimate in April. I sent in 1/3 down: $156 and asked that my driveway be done before 6/20/08. On 6/10 I received a call that they would be out the next day. They came at 7:00 am Wednesday 6/11. The only day in a long string of days it didn't rain. Not sure if that was pure luck or excellent planning on their part. They cleaned out the weeds in the drive and cut back the grass on the edges. They swept the whole driveway and applied a sterilizer to retard future weed growth. They filled all the cracks and applied one coat of sealer. I stayed off of it until Thursday afternoon. Looks beautiful. Absolutely no mess left behind and no black marks on my concrete areas or even on my grass.
Description of Work: They seal coated my 4000+ square foot circular driveway.

+ 0 moreAs they were doing all of this work they encountered problems with rotted siding. Terry contacted someone to come out and replace the portions that were rotted. The second thing, because the patio was raised four inches, he has a landscaper that is going to come out and do a retaining wall and install new beds to make it look pretty. Because I had other problems with my siding, Terry gave me two separate recommendations and I ended up choosing one to do that work. This guys are so awesome! When we had the shed installed we were afraid that it was too close to the property line. Terry had a survey company come out and make sure that it was within the property limits. Everything that came up Terry took care of immediately. They even completed the work ahead of schedule. Joe and Pat, the two workers were awesome. They were on time, professional, friendly and cleaned up after themselves. They were just wonderful to work with! I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: I had an asphalt driveway that had all kinds of potholes on it. They took that out and installed a new concrete driveway. I've always had drainage problems and so they installed a drain near the garage that's taken care of all of my water problems. On the side of the house they took out all of the old concrete and installed a new concrete apron for my finance's truck. They also put a concrete path to a shed we had installed (by another company) as well as the slab for the shed. In the back of the house they tore out the old sidewalk and I was only going to have them replace it with more concrete. They came up with a cool design so I could have planting beds on my patio instead. For my patio, they put stained concrete over my old patio so it's 4 inches higher, it's a stained terracotta color which is absolutely gorgeous. My front porch was really cracked and broken concrete with a crumbling brick wall. They removed the wall, took out the bushes, extended the front porch about three feet and then put a stained terracotta on top of it.

+ -1 moreCalled on Sept 19th to ask if someone could give me an estimate on paving a driveway. Tanya said it would take 1-2 weeks. After almost three weeks had gone by without hearing from anyone, I called again and Tanya said she would check on it. She called me back to say they were too busy to get to me, existing customers have the cell phone numbers of the pavers, call them directly, and they come first.
Description of Work: Asked for an estimate on paving a driveway, did not receive an estimate and no work was done.

+ -1 moreWE HAD 3 ESTIMATES. SUBURBAN CAME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TWO. WE CHOSE THEM NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE THE CHEAPEST BUT BECAUSE BOB TOOK THE TIME TELL US ABOUT WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE TO IMPROVE DRAINAGE A LOW SPOT IN FRONT OF A SMALL OLD GARAGE. THAT AREA WAS VERY ICEY IN WINTER. HE WAS CERTAINLY POLITE AND HELPFUL WITH HIS COMMENTS. THE ACTUAL QUALITY OF THE PREPARATION AND PAVING IS EXCELLENT. HE DID NOT RETURN THE INITIAL CALL RIGHT AWAY, NOR DID HE CALL TO INFORM US OF CHANGE IN SCHEDULE FOR THE TIME FOR THE PREP WORK OR THE PAVING GIVEN US Y THE OFFICE STAFF. THE OFFICE SAID THEY WOULD BE HERE IN THE LATE A.M. BUT RANG THE DOORBELL AT 6:30 A.M. THEN, THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE HERE ON MONDAY AFTERNOON AND SHOWED UP AT 6:10 A.M. TUESDAY! THESE WERE ANNOYING BUT NOT SERIOUS PROBLEM, BUT OVERALL THE GUYS DID A GREAT JOB AND I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THEIR WORK. OH, AND BY THE WAY, BOB'S ADVICE ABOUT THE ''POOLING POTENTIAL'' BY THE OLD GARAGE WAS 100% CORRECT. THERE ARE NO POOLS!
Description of Work: LEVELED AND PREPARED AN OLD GRAVEL DRIVEWAY TO PAVE DRIVEWAY. THE DRIVEWAY HAD NEVER BEEN PAVED, THE GRAVEL WAS VERY SCANT, AND THERE WERE DEEP PUDDLES AFTER RAIN. THE WORK WAS COMPLETED BY POLITE AND VERY EFFICIENT LARGE CREWS.

+ -1 moreMY NEPHEW CONTACTED SUBURBAN ASPHALT ON MY BEHALF TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THEM COME OUT TO MY MOM'S AND PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAVING OF HER DRIVEWAY. MY NEPHEW WAS ACTING ON MY BEHALF SINCE I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES AND HE WAS THE ONE WHO WOULD MEET THEM FOR THE APPOINTMENT SINCE HE LIVES IN MILWAUKEE. SEVERAL MESSAGES WERE LEFT FOR SOMEONE TO CALL HIM BACK, HOWEVER, NO ONE FROM THE COMPANY RETURNED ANY OF HIS PHONE CALLS.

I BELIEVED I WOULD HAVE A SMOOTH SURFACE WITH CLEAN EDGES WHEN COMPLETE. THE DRIVEWAY ACTUALLY LOOKED WORSE ON THE EDGES WHEN THE SEAL COATING WAS COMPLETE AND A LOOSE PIECE OF CONCRETE WAS SEAL COATED AND LEFT TO SIT ON THE DRIVEWAY. THE SERVICE PROVIDERS DID NOT CONTACT ME WHEN THE JOB WAS FINISHED SO WHEN I SAW SPILLS AND BLACK MARKS ON THE SIDEWALK, I CALLED THE MAN BACK. HE ARGUED WITH ME THAT A) I HAD GRAND ILLUSIONS OF WHAT SEAL COATING COULD DO AND THEN B) TOLD ME THAT THE BLACK SPOTS WERE LIQUID THAT WOULD WASH AWAY. THEY'RE STILL HERE. IN FAIRNESS, I BELIEVE THAT HAD MY EXPECTATIONS BEEN CORRECTLY SET BY THE SALES STAFF, I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN TO WAIT UNTIL I COULD AFFORD A NEW DRIVEWAY.

+ -1 moreSUBURBAN ASPHALT CALLED ME PROMPTLY, GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE, THEN WARNED ME THAT THEY WERE SO BUSY THAT THEY MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO GET MY JOB DONE THIS LATE IN THE SEASON. DESPITE THAT, WITHIN A MATTER OF DAYS I GOT A CALL FROM ONE OF THEIR CONTRACTORS WHO CAME OUT AND RESEALED MY DRIVEWAY THE DAY AFTER HE CALLED. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE, AND WITH THEIR PRICE. I WOULD GIVE STEVE NELSON AND SUBURBAN ASPHALT AN "A". I can report that Suburban Asphalt called me promptly, gave me an estimate, then warned me that they were so busy that they might not be able to get my job done this late in the season. Despite that, within a matter of days I got a call from one of their contractors who came out and resealed my driveway the day after he called. I was very happy with their service, and with their price. I would give Steve Nelson and Suburban Asphalt an “A.”

I SPENT $1000 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE SITE CLEARED SO THEY COULD GAIN ACCESS TO THE PROPOSED DRIVEWAY. I CALLED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A MONTH AND THEY NEVER RESPONDED SUFFICIENTLY. THEY FINALLY SAID THEY COULDNT DO THE JOB AND CANCELLED THE PROJECT. I WASTED A LOT OF TIME AND MONEY FOR NOTHING. IF THEY COULDNT DO THE JOB, THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE SIGNED THE CONTRACT.
