Measured basement provided 2D pdf drawing of space

Too expensive but fine plans.

Used an Angie's coupon for American Home Remodeling to measure my unfinished basement and provide 2D computer-aided design plans. Scott and I arranged a date for him to come over to look at the basement and discuss the project and how our family would like to use the basement space. It took 3 weeks for Scott to get the 2D plans to me. I consider the plans a good start. I chose not to follow-up with Scott until my family understands our storage space requirements better and we can build the right amount of storage space into the design. I would call Scott back in the future.

Took a while to connect and schedule. Just got the impression it was not a job he really wanted to do or bid on, so design was extremely basic, and his estimate seemed inflated

Scott walked through the basement with us. He had excellent ideas on how to accommodate the different features we wanted in our rec-room (small bathroom, theater area and a small wet bar). He spent a great deal of time explaining their services and was honest about where their estimates would fall compared to other contractors. Ultimately we decided to go with a contractor whom we know through church but had we met with Scott first ( or at least earlier in our process ) we would have likely decided to use his services.

He came to our house on time. Discussed our plans for a kitchen remodeling. We were looking for information on the best way to proceed. He gave us several good suggestion/options. After we agreed on what we wanted, he took measurements of our kitchen. Within a week, we had a drawing of the plans and 2d color images of what our kitchen would look like after the project was completed. It was very helpful to see the color images of the project.

He came to see the space we wanted to turn into an apartment. Then He designed the space according to our specifications and submitted a design that we accepted.

The provider did not get back to me in a timely fashion. He stated to me that "I don't make a lot of money on this". In addition he wanted me to make some measurements when that was his job. The amount of information that he wanted was overwhelming.

It turned out pretty good. I know that he’s pretty busy. Maybe it just depends on the customer. If they thought that it was going to be something that they might see something going through then they will make themselves more available.

Poor communication and could not schedule appointment.

Met with us to do a walk-through of the basement and get our needs / ideas. Then produced blue prints of the proposed remodel. We suggested some changes and he rapidly updated the blue prints. Was very easy to work with. When we actually go forward with the remodel, we will be asking him for a quote to do the work.

Scott came over and measured the kitchen area. We talked about what we were looking to do and he provided a drawing detailing the cabinets and appliances. He was busy so the design took some time, but we were not in a hurry anyway so it wasn't an issue.

He seems a little laid back in trying to assist. I wish the service and interactive was more involve.

My wife was very impressed with his ideas & I liked his honesty with great opinions how things should go with the project; now waiting to hear back about also remodeling our upstairs bathroom & of course the costs involved.

The provider was punctual. He contacted me and let me know when he would be available. He was able to fit my appointment in earlier than expected and provided prompt replies to all emails. I will definitely contact him when I am ready to finish my basement and get an estimate.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went well. We're not gonna be doing anything right now but we got good service from them. We talked about what I needed to do. He was helpful in helping me figure what are the things to do. I didn't ask them to quote a price because we weren't gonna do anything and prices will change before we can.

We were very happy with Scott's work. He was very responsive to our request for a quote, and the final cost was right on the quote he provided. He was able to start very quickly, and he installed the window in two days. We love the window; it brings a lot of natural light in the basement, and it gives us peace of mind that the basement will be safe for guests once it is finished. Very happy with the final product and the communication. We would have no hesitation recommending Scott to others.

The service was for a 3 D drawing of my kitchen for planing.. he also makes cubbards etc. he drew up one set of plans and also made it clear that he would not draw up more without extra fees. I did not go with his plans .. nor did I contact him back.. as I wanted actual 3D drawing to see how my kitchen would look different ways. (I was thinking this would be on computer.. not drawn on paper, this is my fault for not asking if that is what I would get) I have found that you can go with places such as home depot or other remodeling places and they will draw up plans for free.. and you dont have to go with them. The choice is yours.. I felt a bit taken on what I rec'd. I would have loved to get 3 different sketches. some help in planning and moving things around..and. a sit down on materials etc.. someone that really wanted to get my business.. in the end I dont feel he wanted that. I'm sorry.. I wish it would have been better.

His ad said a 2D drawing for a kitchen or bath remodel. When I questioned him about his very basic sketch for my bathroom, he said that a 2D drawing is just a floor plan drawing, not a 3D rendering. To me a 2D drawing would be a drawing showing 2 dimensions, primarily horizontal and vertical. I believe his advertisement is both deceptive and misleading and a waste of my money. This is the third deal that has burned me so it will be my last 07/19/2013 I would normally never do this but after speaking with Angies List corporate I feel that this needs to be brought to someones attention which in this case is the provider of the service. Angies list corporate remains neutral in disputes because their stance is that the website is an open forum whereby purchasers and providers can praise or denounce each other at will. After my complaint mentioned above The provider has taken it upon himself to communicate with me via my email address stating " It's sad that people such as yourself can get enjoyment out of hurting others". My criticism of the provider is that the perceived value/ the advertised value of $399.00 is misleading. For my $99.00 I received an extremely basic black and white floorplan for my 200 square foot bathroom. It took awhile because the provider was very busy but I was disappointed in that I could have done this very basic drawing myself. I never would have spent $99.00 let alone $399.00 for what the advertisement stated which was "LAST CHANCE $99 for Custom Kitchen or Bath Design with FULL Set of 2D plans" I misinterpreted the 2D reference. As I explained to the provider with a detailed request to change the bathroom vanity and make the shower slightly larger, i gave him desired heights of the cabinets, drawer sizes, kickboard height, material choices, etc hoping for a length and height rendering but what I received back was a simple floorplan.His definition of a 2D drawing and what I expected of a 2D drawing is where the problem came into play. I should have asked more questions. Unfortunately the money was already spent to Angies List with no recourse. The provider believes that I can take this drawing and get competitive bids, building permits, and lengthy consultations with someone else but that I would debate highly. Lastly I am not out to hurt anyone's business or family. I do expect a good value for my money spent and I just don't think that the service provided was worth $99.00 and that the FULL set of 2D plans was deceptive in it's description. I am sure that his business is very competent, professional, and up to building standards otherwise he wouldn't be in business today. I probably would blame the Angie's list advertisement people for creating a piece that left consumers like me wondering how the service provided was different than what was promised .I'm done with Angie's list, deal of the Day, Groupon, etc More times than not the provider gets the shaft with criticism while the advertising company pockets most of the money and the provider gets a small percentage of the actual money collected and has to give away his services at a reduced cost. I personally give free consultations when necessary to get new business and then I am not beholding to any marketing firm whatsoever. The old adage still holds true today YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

We contacted Scott after reading reviews on Angie's List and it was a pleasure working with him right from the start. He was extremely professional and always responded in a timely fashion. We had contacted 3 businesses to get quotes for cutting out and installing a large egress in our basement. Though American Home's prices weren't the lowest, the quote included the most attention to detail and also the time frame provided was the shortest. We are glad we worked with American Home Remodeling. The crew started on time, were very respectful and finished the job in a timely fashion. I did have one minor concern at the end of the work due to a misunderstanding on our part and Scott offered to work with me on it until I was completely satisfied.

We are ecstatic about our new basement! We have received so many compliments about it and are thrilled with the quality we received for the price we paid. We interviewed other contractors prior to choosing Scott and we think we would not have gotten so many extras if we had gone with one of them. Scott was easy to work with and worked around our schedule even when we didn't want work going on because of the holidays or other happenings going on at home. He quickly responded when we had questions about certain aspects of the project, even on weekends. His subcontractors were also easy to work with. In addition, he offered interesting suggestions but was never pushy. We could tell that his ultimate goal was for us to be happy with it, not just to get the job done. We would not hesitate to work with him again and have recommended him to others.

We didn't end up doing anything yet, we were impressed by his designs that he came up with but we just kind of put the project on hold but it wasn't anything to do with him. We're keeping his information and when we do what we want to do, we'll probably get in touch with him again. We ended up using the big deal coupon and he accepted it. He was very nice, good to work with. We bought a new home in 2008 and we still haven't had the basement finished, some time we want it in the future but we just want to start looking into it, we didn't do anything yet but we are going to do that eventually. He's friendly and very thorough, and just did a good job. The planning stage is good.

I contacted AHR by e-mail to schedule a date to meet at my house to review the current layout and discuss what I was looking for in a remodeled kitchen. We talked for about an hour at the meeting at my house. AHR provided many good suggestions and was able to provide feedback on what I did and did not want to do with the kitchen. AHR took measurements of the kitchen and provided a 2D floorplan and a color drawing 11 days after we met. The floor plan was well done and I really appreciated the color drawing showing what the kitchen could look like after it was completed. The floor plan and drawing will help finalize what remodeling I want to have done.

We hired Scott to remodel our basement adding a bedroom, bathroom, playroom and bar area. He did a great job! He was easy to work with and addressed any issues in a professional, timely manner. The cost of the remodel did not exceed the estimate that he gave us. Most importantly, we love the space and it is a great area for our family to gather.
