He said on more than one occasion that I should make the decision quickly as he was already booked three months out(!) It felt a bit like a scare tactic to make me rush. The price was reasonable, but I chose another provider mainly because of this rushing. He may have been that booked up, but it seems unlikely as all of the other roofers I contacted had much shorted time frames.
Description of Work: Provider came promptly after my initial inquiry. He measured and delivered a complete estimate on the spot, which was a nice surprise.

I received a quote just a day or 2 after requesting one from the owner. We were very impressed that he agreed to come over on a weekend morning to talk with us about the quote. He agreed to use the shingles that we found on Consumer Reports. We discussed what needed to be done and agreed he'd be in touch regarding a timeline. It was a rainy spring so a firm start date could not be set at that time. Before we settled on the shingle color, it occured to us that we didn't see the garage roof included in the quote, so we called and in fact, it hadn't been included but he was able to alter the quote quickly. He also let us know that the price of shingles would go up soon so we told him which ones we wanted and he ordered them. I wish we'd been able to have more of a say in the timelines but with the rain and the press of other jobs we kind of had to go with the flow. The shingles showed up on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend and they couldn't put them on the roof due to low wires next to the street. When the crew arrived on Monday morning they took it in stride. They also took in stride some of the "unexpected" issues they found on the roof - tar under the siding and a rotted board. The crew was great - hard-working, polite, nice guys. They had the roof on in a few days. The only somewhat negative comment I would make is that they could have given us some instructions on how to make their clean up easier - like make sure the grass is mown as low as you can, make sure any garden beds around the house are weeded and your plants are protected with burlap or an old sheet when the crew is working near them. This might have helped improve the clean up. Don't get me wrong - they did a good job, but my husband still stepped on a nail in the grass in the back yard (not serious) and I've found 5 nails and tar paper in and immediately around the plants near the foundation of the house. Overall, I was very happy with the process. The owner came back to check in and we asked him about a few shingles that looked like they weren't fastened down enough, and he said they'd settle in once it got hot, and he was right. The only thing they have yet to fix is a piece of siding they put on to mask the new roof and the old siding gap. He said that the gutters would hide it, but they didn't. But he has been great at responding to our other questions so I feel confident that this will be corrected without a problem.
