AMC Countertops

After we placed the order with Hensen, Esmeralda at AMC, Customer Service representative, notified Hensen that we could come to Fond du Lac to confirm that the piece of Granite was acceptable or approve the photo. Having watched DIY TV and HGTV and talking with people who purchased Granite....they all said you must go the converter to confirm the Granite is acceptable. Reread that last sentence. YOU MUST GO TO THE CONVERTER TO CONFIRM YOUR GRANITE. DO NOT DO AN APPROVAL FROM A PICTURE. This is a great example why you MUST GO TO THE CONVERTER. My wife said she will stay home so I took the Granite Juparana Gold sample from Hensen and drove to Fond du Lac. Easy to find and only 1 hour from Sun Prairie. They did not have the piece ready to review so I had to wait 15 minutes. Esmeralda and the CS Manager took me to where they had the Granite displayed and I did not like the slab. I said it was "not acceptable" due to the pigment being spaced too far out and it was not close to my sample from Hensen. CS Manager checked for a 2nd slab and had it pulled. It was closer to the Hensen Sample but not as close as I expected. It was marginally acceptable. The CS Manager went looking for a third slab and I took pictures of #1 and #2 and sent them to my wife. They found a 3rd slab and when I laid the Hensen sample in front of it, you could not find the small sample. It was a dead on match to my sample. Took a picture and sent it to the wife. Looked at #2 and #3 and picked #3. Wife called and said go with #3. #2 sample would have been okay but #3 was an outstanding match. Then I asked where would they cut out the counter top and they said I could pick. So I picked the top portion. Monday Esmeralda sent me an email showing the photograph of the slab with the cut out marked from the bottom and the top. The wife and I confirmed we wanted it from the upper part of the slab. The picture quality of the slab was washed out but I knew it was the right slab since I was there to pick it out. We are so happy we did not make a decision by picture and that I drove to Fond du Lac. The template guy arrived on schedule and did not use the higher technology "dot" system due to the small size so he jsut measured the top of the existing cabinet. Checked the sink and faucet model numbers and left. Within a few days the installation was scheduled. The installers arrived within the window. I had provided the sink so they checked the sink model number to their records and it matched. They placed the sink over the cutout and confirmed it fit. Then applied the silicone and secured the sink to the Granite. They laid tarps down to minimize tracking and installed the new Granite Counter Top. They did their careful measurements and used a diamond tip cutter to cut the hole for the faucet. We confirmed the faucet fit. They used painted Silicone to seal back splash to the wall and a different Silicone sealer at the edge of the back splash to the counter top. They cleaned the counter top with Denatured Alcohol, removed some excess Silicone and gave me the warranty and maintenance information and had me fill out an evaluation and sign it. This is a small job and they were efficient with their time. The Granite counter top looks great we are really pleased with the final results. AMC did a good job on the conversion and their timing was reasonable. We had hopped for an earlier install but it was only two days later than expected. Would recommend then to other buyers.
