We've always have had had a great experiences with them. They may not be the cheapest plumber in town, but the things we have gotten are in the right range and they do not try to oversell. The piece is expensive, but they said for right now to try a piece and if you need another piece we would be able to order. She saved me a lot of money.
Description of Work: I had to get a piece for a shower head They didn't have to come out.

I could not be any happier. Responsive, professional & courteous. Both of our garbage disposals sprung leaks over the weekend. We had a house full of guests so no time to deal w/ a weekend project. I emailed through Angie's List first thing Monday morning and received a call w/in the hour. Ken showed up with the new garbage disposals in hand and had them installed in no time. Love that he put on booties without asking if he needed to, each and every time he came back in to the house. We have a 2 year old lab who can be very noisy when she greets new people. He was patient, kind and understanding of this. We will absolutely use them again and refer to friends.
Description of Work: Replaced 2 garbage disposals.

We called Benjamin Plumbing around 7:45 and described our problem. The scheduler said that she would work us into the days schedule as soon as she could. We got a call back a little after 9:00 that a plumber could come at about 9:15. Rick arrived and diagnosed the problem. A cold water copper pipe to the shower had sprung a leak. Rick said that he would try to cut the pipe out by working in the small opening behind the shower plate and then pull down the leaky pipe thru the basement ceiling. The alternative would have required cutting open the drywall in our main floor hallway to access the leaky pipe which then would have required patching drywall and repainting. Rick was successful in cutting the pipe and pulling it out thru the basement ceiling. Working in the small opening behind the shower plate he got the new copper pipe installed and watertight. We were impressed that Rick could get this repair done via the small working space and spare us a drywall patching and painting project. We could not have had a better plumbing repair experience than this one with Rick and Benjamin Plumbing.
Description of Work: We had water leaking down from a pipe in the wall that came from the shower control valve.

Benjamin Plumbing located the new water heater in a more convenient location in the basement, closer to the water lines for the dishwasher and master bath. As a result, hot water arrives much more quickly in those locations. The removal of the old water heater and installation of the new water heater were done efficiently and professionally. The work site were cleaned up after the job.

They did a really neat job. They were very responsive. The price was somewhere between $3200-5000. I would definitely highly recommend them. We were very happy with them.
Description of Work: They put in a tankless water heater. Ours was leaking and we knew it was getting to a point where it would need to be replaced. When they came to give the estimate, they came up with a plan that freed up a lot of floor space. They really didn’t need to do that and we really appreciated them going the extra mile. They also put up drywall in the basement to kind of separate the bathroom and furnace because I wanted it covered so it would look better. They put in an insinkerator water filtration system under our sink in the kitchen with a spigot for both hot and cold water to be filtered. The sink didn’t have enough holes so they had to put in a hole. They also put in a mechanical timer on the valve for the washing machine so the pressure isn’t always on the hoses.

I told Rick we had put a new water heater in when we bought the house in 1997, and I thought it might be about at the end of its natural life. Rick hooked a hose up to the nozzle on the heater, and ran some water out. It was relatively clear and free of a lot of lime. Under the circumstances, he thought replacing the thermocouple for under $120.00 would correct the problem and save us the cost of a new water heater. We asked him how long water heaters usually last, and he said he's had to replace some of them after 10 years and some after 40. We decided to go with replacing the thermocouple. We appreciated his advice. We've used Benjamin Plumbing in the past, and like the work they do.
Description of Work: I called Benjamin Plumbing at about 8 am, and reported the water heater was not working. The man who took the call said he would send someone over a.s.a.p. Rick Cooper came at about 11, and replaced the thermocouple in our water heater.

We went to their shop where they have all different kind of sinks, etc. Ken came out a few days later and put it in. It is expensive, but they do things really well and worth the price. I had another plumber cheaper and the work was not as good.

It went as usual with Benjamin-great. I trust all their plumbers and appreciate their knowledge and friendliness. I have never had to wait into another day for someone to come and check out some problem I might have. I highly recommend Benjamin.
Description of Work: Responded to call about what I thought was non functioning water heater. As usual, Laurie the scheduler was more than accommodating and found a tech quickly. He discovered that our power was out in the area including water heater. Asked about the fuse box and restarted softener, heater etc by regenerating fuse. Something I might have thought to do but didn't. He also noticed a gas pipe without a cap which had recently been left after gas dryer was moved to our daughter's house.

Water heater was badly leaking. Called Benjamin Plumbing to come out and replace it. They came out that day and were able to not only remove our old water heaters but were able to install a new one the same day. The fact that they could do this the day we called was very impressive. My only regret is that given the emergency nature of the replacement we did not have time to check price and models.

Went well. The estimator and the plumber were both pleasant and professional. They made good suggestions for how to do this work. I would not have known that the city water meter could be in a better position. They fixed the dryer vent which was not installed right and we had not discussed that. It was all done on time.
Description of Work: Reorganized the plumbing in my laundry room. Moved the water softener, moved the gas pipe for the dryer, and put on new fixtures for the washer. Moved the utility sink and put on new faucet. Moved the city water meter to a better place. All of this made more room in the laundry area and will make it possible to put in a more efficient washer and dryer.

Scheduling the estimate was really easy. The estimator was on time and very pleasant. However, they never provided the estimate. If you choose to contact them, I wish you better luck than I had with them.
Description of Work: I am looking to replace my current water heater with either a tankless heater or a gas 40 gallon tank with a recirculating system. The estimator came and talked to me about the pros and cons of both types of systems he wanted to email me the quotes. I watched him write down my email address and saw that it was correct. I waited three weeks without a reply. I was still interested in getting their quotes so I emailed him. I gave him the excuse of saying that there must have been a typo in the address he used to send the estimate to me. I told him to reply to my email and to attach the estimates. It has been three weeks since I sent that email and I still haven't received a quote.

I called Benjamin Plumbing and they set an appointment window for 1-3 PM on 3-22-13. They called 15 minutes ahead of time to let me know that Lee Benjamin was on his way. He arrived and went right to work. He quickly located the leak from the master bath. It was the shower drain. Everything was completed in two hours and we are now back in business. The price included labor, trip charge and parts.

We chose them because they had the lowest price for the same work. They were more professional and more prepared to do the job. So, when they came in, they displayed a lot of confidence; that was also a factor. We had three different plumbers who came, and they were the best both in terms of professionalism and in terms of cost.

I researched on Angie's List and Benjamin Plumbing came highly recommended with an A rating from 40 customers in Madison. **I called them at 11am on Monday morning Jan 7th and they said they'd call as soon as a plumber was free. **At 11:45 they phoned to say a plumber was on the way. **By 12noon the plumber was out here and diagnosed a defunct sump pump. He had the SAME model on his truck and installed the new one right away. He tested it and the sump pump wasn't turning off so he made some adjustments. Then he did a second test and it was working perfectly. **By 1pm the plumber was done and our problem was fixed.

So My son pushed the handle of the bathroom faucet down so hard, trying to stop the leak, that he broke the handle off. I called Benjamin, the receptionist was great, asking me for the numbers on handle, they didn't jive so she said why don't you email me a picture. So I did and after alittle research she found the right one to order. A few short days later, the plumber was at the door with the right replacement. They promised to charge a trip fee, and whatever fraction of an hour of labor he needed to complete the job. But there was a communication error and he didn't know the faucet leaked to begin with. So after replacing the handle, it still leaked so he had to remove it again and fix the tension or replace a washer or whatnot. So we did get charged for a full hour of labor. That would be my only complaint, that he was here an extra 15 minutes that he didn't need to be. Otherwise, the job was done well, promptly and Julie on the phone was great!

I had a dishwasher drain that was plugged and backing up under my kitchen counters and seeping through holes in the floor and through the floor itself (!) into my (fortunately mostly unfinished) basement. There was an obvious cast iron trap between the dishwasher drain pipe and the main sewer riser with a removable lead cleanout plug which I could not get off to clean out the dishwasher drain pipes. I emailed Benjamin Plumbing (from their web form) as this was not an emergency, and told them what was going on about 10:30 AM. Not having heard back from them by the noon-hour, I called the office and was put in contact with the person responsible for scheduling service calls. He set me up with an appointment window between noon and 2:00 the next day. Within an hour he called me back to let me now he'd had a cancellation for the same day and offered same day service. Within an hour Ken was at my house! Ken first tried to remove the plug with his bigger wrenches and by chiseling around the edges of the plug. He was unable to budge the plug (which made me feel better about having to call a plumber - I have performed most of my own plumbing replacements & repairs) with the wrenches and chisel. He next drilled a hole in the plug to drain the water from the trap, then applied a BIG torch to the cleanout and basically melted the lead plug out of the cast iron trap. A big wad of steaming gunk plopped out with the plug and the drain ran free! Ken did a good job of cleaning up the gunk, then snaked both the inlet and outlet pipes to and from the trap to be sure there was no blockage elsewhere. He finally capped the trap with an easily removable rubber cover which fit over the entire bottom of the trap. It will be a simple matter to remove it in the future if it should become necessary. Ken spent about a hour on the job, was personable and polite, had the right tools and the right knowledge to get the job done quickly. Labor price seems fair enough at ±$100 per hour. $44 trip charge for the 1.3 mile "trip" from the shop seems a bit rich, but I neglected to inquire about this first... GREAT experience overall! Only room for improvement might be a faster response to webform inquireys. That could be an issue in an emergency situation. It was not an issue for me.

I would definitely recommend Benjamin Plumbing to anyone who asks for a good plumber. The customer service was excellent, it took very little time, and Ken gave me advice and information I did not expect. The price, I think, was very fair and probably doesn't get much lower than that anywhere you go.
Description of Work: The hot water shut off valve to my kitchen sink leaked overnight and left a TON of water in the kitchen and living room. I called Benjamin Plumbing around 8:00 a.m., explained the situation, and they said they would have a plumber come take a look at it as soon as possible. The plumber showed up around 10:00 a.m., which gave me time to clean up the water and such. I explained what had happened and the plumber, Ken Yager, had me show him around to see if there was any water damage. Once he realized the water had leaked into the basement, he gave me a card for Certi-Dry and recommended I contact them right away considering there was so much water damage. Ken then proceeded to replace the hot water valve and replaced the cold water shut off valve as well, since they often fail around the same time. I was expecting a bill of about $200 after reading about valve replacements. I was shocked when it was only $118. He only charged me for 30 minutes of his time and there was no emergency fee. He was professional, friendly, funny, and efficient. I would recommend Benjamin Plumbing to anyone!
